February 25 - In the Shed

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Kassle, Philio

Location: Camp Willow; Tree Shed

"Make sure you put the net..." "I know, dad. Hang it up so it dries..." "Well. Put the Har-" "Harpoon. Up on the higher shelf. So the young ones don't get it... Please dad. Just go home. I can put the stuff away myself... Ive done it millions of times..." "Hrm...If your so sure of yourself... Ill see you back at the house again" Plisk nods toward his son before walking back along toward the side grounds. He looks just like his son. Just a very old and wrinkly version. And his whiskers have grown to hang over his chest. Philio chuckles at his father before opening the door to the tree/storage shed. He takes a large whiff of the wonderful smelling interior before going over to one of the large hooks. Going to Hang up the largest net in the whole camp. He whistles to himself as he works. Like he always does.

There's a deckchair in here! And an otter occupying it. A wooden cup of something that might have been hot once, sits luke-warm on the ground beside her. There's a heavy book in her grip as Kassle reclines, one leg over the other, her staff propped up nearby. Without looking up from her tome she greets "Good afternoon Phil-mo, how're you?"

Philio nods as the net is slowly being put up on the hooks. One by one. Then she speaks. He didn't know she was there! Thought he was all alone he did! He ergs, "WHAT THE!" jumping out of surprise. He then misses his footing on the way down, and falls backwards. The harpoon that he was holding gets lodged into the wood next to him. The otter places a paw over his chest, as he beats out of it, "Holy Moley... Kass... Sacred the bajezes out of me!" he chuckles.

That's a lot of noise and one tumbling otter. Kass' blinks down at him, then smiles apologetically but amused after seeing that he seems to be okay. "Ah. Sorry about that." She leans forward, over her book, extending a paw to help him, though not quite leaving her chair. "Wasn't actually my intention, I promise."

"I'm sure it wasn't! Wheh... Its alright. I've learn to take a fall or two... Comes with growing up here!" he smiles as he takes her paw. Its not so much for her help. But its nice anyway. All the same. He gets up and fake dusts himself off before looking over at Kassle, "Okay. Lets start again..." he turns around then acts like he is walking in for the first time, "Oh hey Kass! I didn't know you where here! How are you? Hope you are well!" he chuckles.

Kassle smirks. "I believe 'How're you?' is something I asked already, though I am well too, thankyou." She moves to set the book on the ground, replaxing it with her warm drink. "I suppose you're done with fishing for the day, if you're putting that stuff away now? Seem happy, so I'll take that to mean a good time and possibly a rather decent catch?"

"Oh yeah. I forgot. Heh. Yep. Just finished. Cant really fish in the afternoon anyway. Just gatta put these bad boys away so they don't rot and such..." Philio yanks the harpoon from the wood, giving it an expert twirl, before holding it like a staff, "I am happy. Im always happy for some reason" he chuckles, "Spent most of the time on the river. I did all the work while my pop slept." he snorts, "As for this fish collection. It was okay. They didn't really bite until later on in the day... It was alright i guess..." he nods a bit before sitting down cross legged, "What about you? Why are you in the shed reading all alone?..." he tries to peer over that the book, "That book... thing..." cant read the title.

"It seemed a quiet little place. I've noticed that most otters here aren't truly very tidy... So the things already taken from here are mostly already available, left somewhere out there. Thus, aside from some gardener type who seemed a little in his own world anyway, you're the first visitor I've seen since I got here." She smiles, and sips. "Well, I'm glad you had a somewhat satisfying day of fishing." Her book lacks a title, having an embossed image of an oak leaf instead.

"They are civilized... But that is a very stretched generic term around here. One beasts trash bin, is another 'Im gonna put stuff here' place. Heh... A somewhat out of it, gardener? Which one!" Philio laughs, "Well I'm glad I'm the first visitor you had that was here on this planet. You're the first beast I've seen, sides pa, since yesterday." And what a sight it is, "Thanks. It should get better soon! I'm always the optimist. So... What yah reading anyway?" he points at the book. And then scoots closer."

Kassle sets the cup down, then lifts the book. "A compendium of the various plants- well, it mostly seems to be trees, actually- that used to grow around here. Still do, I suppose, but this seems to have been written quite some time ago. I don't know which gardener it was, but he knocked this out of a box while I was reading something else. I couldn't resist having a look."

Philio scratches the back of his head, "Your reading a Book o' Trees?" he tilts his head and smiles, "Couldn't resist? You do realize that was very cute what you just said. And i can stand it!" he grins stupidly going to lay next to her chair, "I bet it was Tim. Tim seems like the gardener who would knock something over..." he places his paws on his chest, "What was the other book then?"

Kassle nods slightly, replacing the book. "Yes... A book of trees... Sort of. There are more plants involved in it, but mostly it's about the trees." She raises an eyebrow, rather surprised now. "It was cute? How was that cute?" She shakes her head. "But, on the subject of our mystery gardener; would Time be short, grey-furred and constantly humming two tunes into each other with no inclination of which tune he wants to be following?"

Philio chuckles as his rudder lightly thumps up and down, "Yes it was cute! And you know it. Don't deny it. At least. I though it was. I think it was cute..." he smiles at her before going to look back up at the ceiling, "Yeltzen? Really? I knew he was off and old. But... Hrm... How strange. Thought for sure it was Tim." he chuckles, "Ill have to make sure about being around him now!"

Huh. Got away without answering the other question. Kassle twitches her ears, then her rudder, thudding the deckchair. "Yeltzen..? That would be his name? Is he not usually... quite so, um, well... Odd, I suppose would be the word for it." And, of course. "I still don't understand what was cute."

Philio stoke's his chin fur, "Yep Yeltzen. He is the only one that matches that description... I know he is a little cynical and stuff. And for good reason. But he usually acknowledges a beast... Maybe it wasn't a gardener. Not Yeltzen... And just some other otter, stealing junk!" he chuckles. At the other question, he goes to look back at her, "Well... You just don't hear that alot around here. Otters excited about reading 'reference like' books... And it makes me feel good when you say that. I cant really describe it... Sorry. If i offended you. But i still think it..." he smiles and stares at her.

"Cynical. Hm, well he seemed more distracted. He was looking for gloves- I assume so anyway; his paws were sort of scratched up and he was looking at mostly the fabric objects." She smirks. "Well, I happen to like books. The whole knowledge is power thing, I suppose. But also reading is just... fun. I'm not offended if you find it cute, but just surprised, I suppose."

Philio blinks at her and grins, "I have no idea who that was! Must have been some sort of theft!" he chuckles, as its not true. He laughs to himself for a few seconds before smiling weakly, "I like books... Not so good... with the whole reading thing..." he sighs, "You find it surprising?... I find a lot of things cute about you..." he taps his chest with his claws, nervously, "I like, that you like books... i find it... fascinating..."

"Fascinating? Well... I suppose that's certainly a compliment. And the whole... cute stuff, too. Guess I could say the same about your hair." She smirks then. "Ah. People are going to get ideas if they find us in here, but I have to admit this chair is really rather comfortable- and my mulled wine has made me a little bit lazy. Winter's nearly over- won't have an excuse to drink it soon."

Philio smiles warmly at her, "My hair appreciates that compliment!" he rubs his hair before nodding, "Right... I get the hint..." he slowly gets up from the floor and picks up the harpoon, "You can keep yourself right here. Don't wanna disturb you, if i can. Be lazy, and enjoy your fine wine!" he winks, "And of course... being your cute self." He watches her for a few seconds, with a grin. He then blinks and ohs, "Oops. Sorry. Was just... Yah..." he goes over to one of the shelves and puts the harpoon on its place. He looks back over to her, and has an urge to kiss her, "Well... Ill... See you soon?... I hope?" he smiles.

"Ah, I've finished it anyway. And, though I'm sure the kitchen will do without, I should probably see to the infirmary. Probably a couple with colds and that mystery otter from earlier if I haven't misjudged my guess. He was looking for gloves after tackling a plant that scratched his paws. The only plant I can think he'd be removing for any reason, that would scratch like that, would be Blackthorn if he were tidying up the Camp's trees. Thus, he'll have some painful, liable to be infected, little thorns stuck in him, wanting some paste of Thyme and Dittany after they're picked out. Should cleanse it and sort the swelling he'll no doubt have." She starts to get up. "So, what are your plans Phil-mo?"

Philio bites his bottom lip when she gets up, "My plan? Umm... Well. I need to get back to the house. But my father can wait... He is probably asleep anyways... Other than that... Im free for the rest of the night Kass... If you know... If... You want to go on another date?" he smiles hopefully. His heart starts to beat faster when she gets nearer.

"Well, perhaps after my stint in the Infirmary? Though, the tavern again, or something else in mind? The tavern might try to rope me into the kitchen if they're a little short-pawed..." She's smiling, it's not a no and... It looks like she's going to liberate the tree book from here for a while. It's made it's way under her arm somewhere between her getting up and retrieving her staff.

Philio grins and gulps, "Hrm... Lets see... Don't want that... OH!" An idea popped in his mind, "... Meet me by the docks after dark. Ill have a surprise waiting for you..." he smiles warmly, "Ill be waiting for you... Come on. Ill walk you to the infirm..." He reaches over and squeezes her paw for a second before letting go. Going to open the door for her.

'Meet me by the docks after dark' would have a distinctly sinister edge if it weren't for the nice otter currently saying it and Kassle can't help but tease as she moves through the open door after the paw squeeze. "If you tie me up and throw me in, I'll haunt you for the rest of your life." She smirks and then waits to be walked to the Infirmary. "Just teasing. I promise I'll be there."

Philio blinks, "What? Tie you-... Oh... Heh. Your just one big walking ottery ball of laughs. Arent yah!" he grins. Walking next to her as they head off to the infirmary, "Thanks. I promise that it will be amazing. I promise it will..." he smiles warmly, still holding off the feeling to hold her paw as they walk. It almost pains him. But tonight will be good.
