Failure to Communicate

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Tristan is sitting in his usual spot at the bar, looking around, as is usual. Even he begins to grow bored with watching the tavern patrons all day, but the rumor mill thrives here, and rumors, true or not interest Tristan. So he comes here, and he listens.

Lorimis walks right over to Tristan, folding his arms he regards the beast

The otter's hooded head turns towards the mouse. "Need something...?" he asks, eyebrow raised.

Lorimis asks, "just thinking about you, you want anything?" he says rather bluntly"

Tristan gives a barely detectable shake of his head. "No, not particularly."

Lorimis turns his back on the beast and goes to serve several Vermin beasts

Grey eyes follow the mouse for a few seconds, and then flick back down to the scratched wooden bar top. "Odd." the otter mutters to himself.

Lorimis flicks his tail at Tristan at the comment, and after delivering the drinks turns to bring out some food.

Tristan shrugs slightly. If the mouse is trying to force him to start a conversation, he's fighting a losing battle. Tristan maintains his silence.

Lorimis isn’t going to talk to the otter, in fact Lorimis seems distinctly and pointedly unhappy with the otter

Tristan has noticed this, but it does not really seem to bother him.

Lorimis chats with vermin, pointing from time to time at Tristan and shaking his head, the vermin chuckling

Tristan glances over at the mouse, quirking a brow as if to say 'really?' He clears his throat a little too loudly to be coincidental. "Lorimis, if you've got something to say, say it to my face or don't say it at all."

Lorimis looks over and smiles politely "No Tristan, I have nothing to say to you....I have no desire at all to speak with you

"You seem to have plenty to say /about/ me though." the otter says evenly.

Lorimis asks, "Did YOU have a question Tristan? Perhaps wondering what I told these beasts about you?"

Tristan betrays little emotion as he speaks, "I don't really care what you've told them, although I wasn't aware that the abbot of Redwall had sunk to gossip mongering."

Lorimis laughs merrily "For an otter with nothing to say your quite talkative....a peasant change

Tristan eyes him cooly, a calculating gaze, noting how he deflected the question. "I talk when I feel like It." he says simply.

Lorimis shrugs "well seems to me you talk when you should not and rather prefer to be a non beast… So I shall treat you that way

Tristan raises an eyebrow curiously. "And who are you to tell me when I should and should not talk?" he asks, "In case you haven't noticed, this is not your abbey."

Lorimis says, "I am not telling you Tristan, I told you how I feel, I do not care whose abbey this is"

Though the otter shows no indication of it, Lorimis is starting to get on Tristan's nerves, so with a weak half shrug he turns and looks away from the mouse, towards the other part of the tavern.

Lorimis goes back to chuckling and talking to the vermin like beasts, he seems to be enjoying themselves

Tristan stifles a yawn and taps idly on his bracer, looking around the tavern.

Lorimar’s taking to two ferrets and what looks like an Opossum

Tristan does his best to ignore the mouse for the time being.

Lorimis seems to have no problem Ignoring Tristan

Tristan waits around for a little longer, then rises from his seat, pausing to stretch after staying seated most of the day, and then walks towards the doors.

There is loud laughter as the Otter moves, not directed at him but all beasts seem to be having a good time enjoying themselves

Tristan takes his time getting to the door, but he doesn’t look back towards Lorimis, ignoring the laughter it seems.

Lorimis smiles and heads back to the bar to do some dishes, he gives a friendly wave to Tristan

Tristan ignores him and steps outside into the summer night.
