Redwall Abbey Kitchens

Brash, Ahndia, Ash: Squirrels

Sam the spoof, Leon: mice

The kitchens are bustling and steamy, as per norm. Amid the noise, smells, and steam, there is Ahndia. She leans over with a paddle, dragging a pie out of a red-hot oven. Her habit sleeves are rolled up, showing her wooden cuff, and her forehead fur is wrinkled with the effort of trying not to burn herself.

Ash slips into the kitchen and looks around carefully. "Where to find the food...." She catches sight of Ahnida pulling the pie out of the oven and mutters, "Perfect!" She glances behind her to see if Brash is following then slipps over to the other female squirrle and taps her carefully on the shoulder, "Is that pie for eatting?"

Brash blinks as he sees yet another female squirrel but at least half his age. He walks over slowly to Ash and looks down at the pie giving it a sniff

Ahndia's used to being bumped into and tapped and shouted at- working in the kitchens makes you rather immune to that sort of thing. She slides the paddle with the pie onto the counter slowly and carefully, then she turns and smiles. "Hello! I'd say it is, but it's far too hot right now. I made some earlier that should be cool enough now though. Would you like some?"

Ash grins cheerfully, "If it wouldn't be to much trouble, yes, me and Brash here are interested in some of your pie." She shifts slightly and glances at Brash with a raised eyebrow, "Stop smelling the pie!"

Brash moves quickly back when he is snapped at "Not my fault the pie smells so good..." He looks away for a bit

Ahndia laughs when Brash is reprimanded. She scoots around them, walking a short distance away towards the windowsill where there are (drumroll) several pies! "Any particular one you want? I made some berry pies, and I think there may be a fruit one here somewhere..." She leans over them, labeling each one in her mind and mentally complementing herself for a job well done.

Ash laughs lightly at Brash, then quickly follows Ahnida, "Ooo! They look absolutly delicious!" She glances at Brash, "Do you have any preference as to which one we eat?"

Brash looks at each pie as they are listed "I think the berry pie will do nicely, I always did like berries"

Ahndia smiles at the compliment to her pies, but saves being honestly happy until the pies get eaten. She reaches over and picks one up with both paws- it has a delicate trellis crust draped over it, and the deep red color of cooked rasberries shows through. She sighs suddenly, calling out to another novice, a mouse, behind the group. "Sam! You put the fruit in first! Otherwise the cream won't have anything to stick to later! And can you get some plates? I'm taking a break with-" She realizes she doesn't know Brash, or Ash. "With friends." Turning back to the pie-eaters, she asks, "Where would you like to eat?"

Ash shrugs, "Anywhere is fine with me!" Suddenly a novice rushes in and nearly runs over to Ash, "Umm....Pheonix is having one of her fits. You'd better come quick." Ash sighs and nods, quickly saying to Ahnidia and Brash, "Duty calls! The names Ash, by the way!" She then quickly rushes out with the novice.

Brash watches as Ash hightails it out leaving him with the younger squirrel. "Uh er my name is Brash, I'm not from the Redwall tribe."

"Bye Ash!" Ahndia calls. "We'll save some pie for you! brash? That's a nice name. And welcome, then!" She says, just before Sam the mouse novice arrives, with a tray of dining-ware. "Uh, where do you want this Ahndi?" Ahndia shrugs. "Walltops?" She looks at Brash to see if he's ok with teh suggestion.

Brash looks at the mouse a moment "Um er wall tops will be fine I can climb up to them easily:

Leon slowly walks up the stairs seeming dreading each step up here, he looks back and forth purposely avoiding looking over the wall or behind him, e looks left and right and sighs, "where is she..." He frowns and looks down at his footpaws, yeah now he has to get back down the stairs.

Brash He told the squirrel that he was going to climb the wall so climb he did. It was much faster than the stairs anyways. Much like a tree he managed to find plenty of paw holds before climbing over the edge to the top

Ahndia comes up the stairs with Sam behind her with the tray. Some of the guards call out greetings- Ahndia and her mother (being members of the order) are well known around the abbey. Ahndia smiles and says hello to al of them, showing Sam to a spot on the walls where she sets the pie down and Sam does the same with the tray. "I'll tell Cook you'll be back in a few!" He calls as he goes back to the kitchens. Ahndia becons Brash over, watching Leon curiously. "Hello Leon. Is everything alright?"

Leon gasps, "Oh..I...WHOA..very high" He sits "I was lookig for Cera, see if she wated a healing lesson and can't find her though, maybe up here...no luck and bad idea, should of sent a novice up here"

Brash looks over a at the mouse as he follows the beckon of the novice. "The little ferret dibbun? That mouse dibbun scared her off kept calling her a vermin and to leave and not come back." He shrugs a bit "Your tribe needs to keep an eye on the young ones

Ahndia goes to take Leon's arm in case he falls, but she withdraws when he sits down. She spreads her arms wide, grinning. "Well, you've got a novice right here! What can I help with, Brother? I'm sure Cera will be found somewhere- she's most likely just out playing. It's such a beautiful day!" The young squirrel shrugs at Brash, motioning for him to sit. "They're young, and still learning. Everyone helps raise them. Pie, Brother Leon?"

Leon says, "Dont know if she is playing she was pretty upset yesterday and said she was goig to run away"

Brash shrugs as he starts to eat his plate of pie. "She was not playing she was upset." He continues to eat in silence.

Ahndia cuts a slice of pie for Leon and hands him the plate. She doesn't eat any- she's cook! They rarely eat their own food. Suddenly, a guard comes over and taps her shoulder. "Miss Ahndi, Sam said to tell you Cook wants you back on duty." Ahndia sighs and nods, getting up. "Well, goodbye Brash, Brother Leon. I've got to get back to work. The food doesn't cook itself." With that, she skips down the wall stairs.
