Downfall of Muenster... or is it?

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

-Enjoy-

Jake sits in a chair using some wax on the string of a longbow, not as fancy as his old one but still well made.

Aeris is watching him silently, sitting across from him. "So what's yer plan to take this fox?"

Jake looks up "Get him in range and fire off an arrow....I can shot a leaf from a tree from 300 yards. And the right area and the fox is dead...instantly."

Aeris looks skeptical, "Not ta cast any doubt on yer shootin' abilities, but what if ya miss?"

Jake frowns he then speaks "Well if miss, and yes it's possible I know, not sure then, could be more dangerous cause then he knows I am nearby"

Aeris nods, "My point. Yew said ye've faced this beast before. What did ya try the first time?"

Jake nods "Yes I did, had fired off an arrow to slide across his cheek, he left but cam back and...surprised me, used blinding powder on me...a friend helped me, if wasn't for him probably died achally"

Aeris thinks for a second. "What ya need is a distraction. Bait. Sumthin' that he can focus his attention on while ya get into range and take a shot." she scratches her head, "Any thoughts?"

Jake shakes his head "No thoughts, sorry...know he may have fought others, heck pretty sure he did, fought my friend he even told me friend he killed me..." he frowns "He probably thinks he failed in helping me..."

Aeris seems too distracted to wonder who this friend is, and she grimaces as she comes to a realization. "I'll be yer bait." she says simply. She's practical, and would rather find a solution to this than talk about the beasts that he fought in the past.

Jake frowns "Look, I would hate to see any beast hurt...or worse. I am sure you have a family that would...worry"

Aeris waves a paw dismissively, "No, even if I get hurt, it'd be betta' than lettin' this beast run around unchallenged. He needs to be stopped, no matter what tha cost is."

Dag arrives from the Staircase...

Jake frowns at her words, he sighs "I...look..." he shakes his head "You need to be careful."

Aeris raises an eyebrow, "I'm an adult, Jake, and a capable fighter. Besides, what else am I going to do? Cower here while he's out hurting an' killing beasts? I don't think so."

Dag Comes padding slowly down the stairs into the great hall, as he arrives on ground level he starts to make straight for the kitchen door as he notices the two conversing and raises a paw in greeting to Aeris.

Jake sighs "No, you have a point I just don't want to see anyone get killed either"

Aeris waves distractedly back to Dag, "Look Jake." she meets his eyes, "I'm not afraid of some fox, dangerous as he may be. I volunteered to be yer bait because I trust you and because I don't wanna see ya get killed. But yer gonna have to trust me that I can take care of myself, which I can. I've lived alone most of my life, I know how to fight and not get stabbed."

Jake nods slowly "Alright then." He looks at the bow he has "Well guess test it out huh...still have arrows in the gatehouse...then we can go"

Dag Stops and looks at the hare for a moment before saying "You're Bastien's father aren't you?"

Jake looks at Dag "Yes...why? He can know I am back later, have a fox to deal with."

Aeris nods solemnly, "I'll get my sling and javelin as we head out as well." She gets up, using her staff for a little extra balance as she walks towards the main hall doors.

Dag Says "I's just carried in Silverfangs last night from a tusses with that fox, you need any more help with im?"

Jake nods, he looks at Dag "Ok wot my son haf to do with that?"

Aeris turns around just before she reaches the door, waiting for Jake, tapping her rudder lightly on the sandstone floor impatiently.

-They leave and go to the dirt road-

It is early evening and the fox is walking down the road, a slight limp to his walk as his footpaw is sore. He mutters under his breath "Hate dibbuns, so annoying should just kill it and THEN it would ne quiet." He looks back and forth and stays alert his tail moving back and forth behind him, the weather is cold and seems to want to spit snow.

Jake walks up the road and stays to the edge, his ears perk when he thinks he hears a voice and he slows down to get into better cover, he spots the fox and gets his longbow ready and double checks his quiver of arrows.

Aeris is slightly right and in front of Jake. She slows as he does, her sling twirling dangerously as she sees the fox as well.

Muenster doesn't see anyone yet, but the wind could change that, he sniffs at the air and growls low as he touches his blade and narrows his eyes, he scans the woodlands and the road north and south, his tail moves slightly faster.

Jake takes a deep breath and tries to get closer to the fox without being seen.

Aeris whispers to Jake, "Remember, let me draw his attention, and then you shoot him." she checks her sling one more time, takes a deep breath, and says, "Don't miss," before she steps away from Jake, towards the center of the road, walking confidently towards the fox.

Muenster spots the otter and grins, "Well if it isn't an ottermaid, and one who don't seem afraid and should be." He smiles coldly as he reaches a paw to his pouch of powders and watches her. "Out fer a walk...all alone lady?"

Jake starts to say something and frowns, he watches the fox and grips his longbow, he selects an arrow and places it in the longbow and draws back ready to fire when needed and when he feels it's the right time.

Aeris steps forward calmly, stopping about ten feet from the fox. She addresses him coldly, "You may eat those words by tha time yew leave here, vermin." she raises her sling up to chest height, swinging it out beside her. The javelin in her other paw is used more like a staff at the moment, but it appears ready to be used at any second. "Throw down yer weapons. Now."

Muenster chuckles dryly "I am so afraid of a female, hmmm throw my weapon?...hmmms nice choice of...WORDS!" he gets out his blinding powder and blows it towards her, he grins and his other paw starts to slide out his blade.

Jake goes to take a better aim, but also makes sure Aeris is not in the way of the shot, he draws the arrow back as far as he can and looks down the arrows shaft, now all he does is wait to let it loose.

Aeris expects the movement, but is thrown off by his sexist comment, and is caught in mid growl. She manages to turn her face in time so that only one of her eyes is rendered useless. She swings the sling underhanded, releasing the stone towards his stomach.

Muenster smirks and starts to chuckle, the stone hits him in the gut and he growls in pain, he pulls out his blade and goes to try and slice at her now in a right angled move, aiming for her arm in hopes of causing a wound to form, he keeps a good grip on the blade as he swings it.

Jake narrows his good eye and then frowns; he waits till he has a good clear shot and lets the arrow fly towards the fox shoulder blade in hopes of stopping the blade before it hits Aeris.

Aeris raises her hardwood javelin to deflect the blade, and then, as she hears the missile go past her, she looks to the fox to see its effects.

Muenster growls as the arrow buries it's self deep into his shoulder blade, he grips his blade handle tighter from the pain the floods down his arm, blood leaks from the wound, he backs off and quickly tries to find the one who fired, he narrows his eyes having a fair idea who "Come out hare or are ya a coward!" he smiles coldly staggering slightly, "Then again, you are, never face me in true battle..." He grins "Oh by the way missing anything...anyone?" he laughs coldly "Think REAL hard now."

Jake listens to the fox and cusses under his breath, he readies another arrow and then listens more closely as he goes to get closer, he watches the fox from where he is, closer now, he doesn't shout out just yet as he tries to figure this out, he sets the arrow in place and pulls back again.

Aeris scoffs, lowering her javelin and placing another stone in her sling, "You call him a coward, but yew fight with powders yerself. What's tha matter? Can't bring yerself ta stab a beast? Eh?" she swings her sling, stepping in close, hoping to use it as a flail basically.

Muenster chuckles at this and smirks "I like to have... fun, and I have a healer that can...heal my wound, have another guest too..." he smiles coldly talking louder, he has a goal in mind, anger the hare..."A small guest...a hare"

Jake good eye narrows at the mention of this and battlelight comes alive now, he steps out of the bushes now and takes aim at the fox's chest, "Hallo" He then fires off the arrow, his aim a little off as he is a bit...peeved right now.

Aeris curses lightly, having hoped that Jake would have been able to resist the attempt to enrage him and stay in cover. As she sees this hasn't happened, she backs off a few paces, letting her sling wrap itself around her forearm. She holds her javelin like a quarterstaff and tenses for any attacks against, her, though she suspects that most will be aimed at Jake.

Muenster sees the arrow aimed and is able to sidestep this one, it does slide across his side and makes a line of blood, he laughs at this and raises his blade and goes to make a charge for the hare, he angles the blade and goes to slice at the hare's upper arm, for now he doesn't pay attention to the ottermaid.

Jake starts to get another arrow aimed and decides he doesn't have time to truly aim right and tosses it aside to get a saber he rarely uses out and barely manages to get out of the way of the fox, he tries to go for a kick to Muenster's legs from behind.

Aeris is perfectly fine with being ignored, and tries to pad quietly to get behind him. One good stab with the javelin is all she needs...

Muenster about loses his balance as he is kicked, he twirls his blade and goes to stab at the hare sideways , he has lost interest in the otter for now and just focuses on the hare right now.

Jake feels the blade slide into his upper leg as he tries to move away, this causes him to hold his now bleeding leg and loose his grip on the saber.

Aeris waits for an opportune moment to stab downwards, and finish this once and for all. But if the fox turns around and sees her, she gets a blade to the gut, and if she misses, Jake might die.

Muenster smirks he goes to kick at saber loose from Jakes grip and at the same time try and makes a slice down and across his chest.

Aeris throws caution to the wind and intervenes, stabbing towards the center of Muenster's back with the sharpened point of the javelin.

Jake gets the saber taken from his grip by the kick, he lets himself fall sideways with an oof to try and avoid most of the blade, the blade does slide across his side but some slight clinking is heard as threw the sliced cloak and tunic is some chainmail, not the best chainmail but it saves him from a more serious and possibly fatal wound, he tenses in pain as most likely will cause very bad bruising of the area and maybe chainmail mark across the side too.

Muenster manages to catch movement and twirls around to knock the spear away, it misses his back as it stabs into his already hurt shoulder, he kicks the ottermaid hard or least attempts to knock her backwards so he can try and make sure the hare is finishes off.

Aeris grunts as she is knocked backwards onto the dirt path, her javelin flying out of her paw. She pulls herself out of range of any follow up attacks and starts to pull herself up.

Jake tries to get up to prevent Aeris from being hurt, but pain and the wind knocked out of him causes him to lose consciousness, this can't be good as he is now unable to fight off an attack.

Muenster growls low and looks at the otter, "Bad...move dearie..." He looks at the passed out hare and smiles coldly, he talks to the otter "Say bye bye to the hare. My blade is sharp enough ta split, hee hee... a hare." He raises his blade to make a fatal move and smiles coldly; he looks away from the otter as he does this.

Motivated by terrible puns and the need to help Jake, Aeris brings up her sling, spinning it in a whirring arc above her head, she doesn't have time to get to her feet and make a precise shot, but as long as she distracts him from the downed hare. She releases the smooth river rock, sending it spinning towards the fox.

Dag Was quite a ways behind in following Jake and Aeris as he had to stop and retrieve his hammer prior to following them down the path, and upon seeing both Jake and Aeris on the ground he bellows out a Gousim war cry as he charges down the path hammer raised fully intent on running the fox over....

Muenster grins and goes to stab downwards, the stone hits him as he drops the blade with a loud clank, he staggers and starts to fall, he goes to kick at the otter when the beaver comes and gets him fully in side, breaking a couple ribs probably, he sways and falls tumbling head over tail into the ditch, breaking an arm and leg on the way down, he slips into the muddy and snow filled ditch, some cold water down there too...he has his nose and mouth above water and so can live, but with serious injuries. If he lives threw this he won't be back anytime soon.

Aeris gets to her feet and moves to stop Dag from pursuing the fox any farther. "If he's not dead, infection an' weather'll take care a the rest. Let's get Jake an' get back to the abbey."

Dag Looks at Aeris for a moment then says "You think you's can make it back on your own feet marm?" after saying this he goes to pick up Jake with both arms.

Aeris sighs, "Yes, I'll be fine." she says quietly, still looking towards the ditch where the fox disappeared. "Now get him back to the abbey, he's going ta need a healer."

Dag picks up Jake carefully and takes one last look for the fox before he starts down the path carrying Jake in both arms, as he's is starting to move off he says " Looks like and we's gonna have to hurry to. "

Aeris nods, staying on the road for a few seconds before letting her sling wrap itself around her forearm into its stored position and sets off down the path after him, javelin being used like a staff again.

-Long story short, Muenster's majorly messed up, and it'll be awhile before he shows up again. Jake's hurt too, but not as bad. Hope you enjoyed-
