Dibbuns trash the Redwall kitchen like nobody's business or LilyMoore Louise gets into ever so much trouble, I kid you not. (Sorry this is long. But at least it's funny!)

Redwall Abbey pond

Thorn the rat. Aveelia the mouse and Novice Len the squirrel spoof. LilyMoore and DoraRose, mice. Lacota the squirrel. Emyuil the mouse.

At the pond already there is a small mouse dibbun. She is standing at the edge of the frozen pond with a very mischievous expression planted across her face. She seems about to step out into the ice when she catches sight of the rat, which causes her to pause and reconsider her actions. It isn't usually encouraged to go ice skating without permission. With a sigh, she flops down onto the snow covered ground and waves to Thorn.

Thorn walks over and nods "Hey..there, yeah it will be frozen a couple weeks most likely, or more. Besides could be thin ice further from the shore and thats dangerous"

The little mouse crosses her arms and nods slowly, "But the edges 'er safe, right? And if we fall in, we get to skip bath time!" It sounds like a win win situation to the mouse.

Thorn frowns "Well, if you fall in you could drown and its really really cold so you would be in the infirm a few days. The edges may be safe I dont know really, not been on the pond "

Aveelia, for that is the mouse, shivers at the thought of the cold, which she hadn't exactly taken into consideration. She shrugs. No matter, there's always the kitchens to be raided! Speaking of which...Aveelia gets to her feet and walks over to the rat, asking, "I'm Aveelia, who you? And 'er you hungry?"

Thorn smiles "I'm Thorn and..well maybe not sure if I missed lunch or not, I may have" She now frowns at the idea of missed lunch.

Aveelia maliciously rubs her little paws together, causing her sleeves to falls down over them, "I hungry too. Let's go to kitchen and get something to eat! They might have scones or a truffle cooling and I sure they wouldn't notice if a scone or two went missing. Besides, I likkle and need lotsa food so I can grow."

Thorn opens her mouth to say other wise and then shuts it and chuckles a little, "Well..they may not miss a couple small things maybe." She starts to walk towards the inside of the abbey building. "Besides...I did miss lunch"

Aveelia trundles along behind the rat, delighted that they are actually going to get food!

Redwall Abbey Kitchens

Thorn pokes her head in and looks around, well its fairly quiet and for now no one seems in here, she hmms softly and guesses its that short perod of day when nothing is going on and dishes are being washed so she walks the rest of the way into the kitchens and looks around walking softly as she does so, she has skills of walking softly and uses them now.

Aveelia tip toes in behind the rat, though she not as quiet. Unfortunately, she has not quite perfected the art of walking silently. Over in the corner of the room and kitchen novice has fallen asleep on a pile of flour sacks and they now snore softly. Aveelia glances around the room, hoping that she will find what she is looking for. Ah! There! Sitting on one of the shelves, a jar full of candied chestnuts. She rubs her paws together and starts to move towards the delicacy.

Thorn looks over at the novice and frowns, well they will most likely get grumbled at later as she glances around the kitchens,"There really isn't much...oh!" She sees some scones on a plate, blueberry it looks like and walks over, careful not to make a sound with the plate and uses her tail to get one, luckly they are cooled down as she grins, this is sort of fun and something she hasn't done, anywhere, in a long while. She steps back as she speaks quietly "Just..be careful" Her voice low.

Aveelia grins, nodding lightly to the rat as she makes her way over to the shelf that is holding the candied chestnuts. However, she encounters a problem. Due to her small size, she is unable to reach the candies. She scowled darkly then turns from the jar to call to Thorn in a not-so-quiet whisper, "I can't reach! Could you get these down for me?"

Thorn blinks as she takes a couple bites out of the scone and walks over looking at the jar thats slightly above her height also, she looks around for a foot stool and carries it over, she looks towards the doorway to the great hall and the one towards the area where dishes are and quickly climbs up and reaches the jar and just as quickly sits it on a bench, she smirks as she seems happy she succeeded with this, some hidden skills maybe shared with few coming out as she whispers "This is fun, reminds me of some things"

Aveelia grabs the jar victoriously, doing her very best not to drop it. She sets it on the floor and struggles with the lid for a few moments before she is able to open it. She holds up a candied chestnut, looking quite overjoyed. Before she pops it into her mouth, she looks curiously at the rat, "Reminds you? of what?"

Thorn finishes her scone and gets a candy nut for herself and eats it, her eyes light up as she smiles, "Nothing important, just some skills I learned and practiced a lot. I didn't always live here." She gets another nut and eats it and chuckles quietly.

Suddenly, from the cellar, footsteps can be heard... Coming up the stairs...

Thorn frowns as she hears footpaws and looks that direction, hmms there is always running, or a distraction maybe, she is not sure yet.

Aveelia seems satisfied by the answer and continues to stuff her face with the small candies. After a moment she starts looking around the kitchen, aiming to find some other delight which she can sink her teeth into. The she hears the footsteps coming up the stairs and she freezes, a look of fear passing over her face.

Suddenly, the door to the Great Hall bursts open, and a brown-furred mouse dibbun comes dashing in. Slamming the door shut behind her, she pulls a chair over and goes to lock the door. Turning to the other Dibbuns, she smiles craftily, her purple/blue/gold eyes twinkling wickedly. "Hi! I'm LilyMoore Louise. Quick, lock all the other entrances! Even the windows!" She starts to push the chair over to the cellar door.

Thorn stands from the bench and looks around, "Maybe we should go, but first.." She finds the honey and some blueberry jam and goes to reach for it, she gets the jam fairly easyly but the honey not so well and clay jar and honey inside both crash to the floor and she gasps and jumps off the stool backing up to the doorway, on the way she grabs the plate of 12..oh yeah 11 now, blueberry scones, "Hey I didnt do all this for nothing.." She says to Aveelia, and then she blinks when she sees Lillymoore and umms.. "Why?"

Its not the thought of /who/ is coming up the stairs that scares Aveelia, but rather the thought of /what/. It could be anything! A giant roach maybe? Or even worse, a looming monster made of all the broken dishes? The little mouse shivers and scuttles back to where Thorn is, as far away from the mysterious steps as possible. She lets out a small "eep!" of surprise as Lillymore dashes in. However, she doesn't stare long. This other mouse is on their side! Wonderful! Aveelia giggles mischievously and runs over to a nearby cupboard; she flings open its doors, looking to see what kind of mischief she can do.

The footsteps are slow, halting, and even wheezing can be heard, as well soft grumbling. The beast is nearly at the top, though, and within only a couple minutes, will appear.

LilyMoore rolls her eyes as she clambers up the chair and locks the cellar door. "So we don't get caught, obviously. The beast down' there probably won't mind staying in the cellar for a little bit. Hurry! Lock the windows so nobeast will know that we're the ones who made a mess! Hurry, quick! Fast!" She climbs up some shelves and locks the first window shut.

Thorn frowns, she goes to shut the other window but not all the way and it opens back half way, but goes unnoticed. She slips on the honey on the floor and drops all but a couple of the scones, she sighs and gives one to both mice dibbuns and decides to not worry on the other ones on the floor, well 9 scones on the floor, oh well maybe no one will notice them and the scones are sort of soaking up the honey anyways.

Aveelia stares disconcertedly at the contents of the cupboard. Only a bunch of neatly stacked pots and pans. No matter! They would simply have to be un-neated! The little mouse starts flinging the pots out of the cupboard, one at a time. However, after about the fifth pot, her arms start to get tired. One more for luck! She grabs a rather large mixing bowl and gives it a mighty throw! It flies through the air only to land a few feet away...on the head of the poor novice who had been napping moments before! The novice, who is a squirrel, sits up quickly, looking very confused and a tad fearful, "W-what is going on?!"

The footsteps pound up the last four steps quickly this time. The beast evidently heard the lock close, and had obviously discarded the heavy cask of October Ale he had been so carefully bringing up, after three hours of searching. There is then... Dead silence. The silence lasts for close to two minutes, until... "I DO HOPE YOU'RE ENJOYING YOURSELVES," comes the Friar's voice, booming through the door. "YOU ARE ALL GOING ON ABBOT'S REPORT."

LilyMoore throws a towel at the Novice, growling, "If you make one peep, ONE PEEP, I'll pull your wiskers out!" She gasps and freezes at the Friars voice, then grins wickedly and shouts, "Nyanny nyanny boo boo, go stick yer head in doo doo!" She laughs and shoves a couple of spoons under the cellar door. Scrambling over to the stoves, she reaches for some hotroot, aiming to spike all the food with the firey powder.

Thorn gulps at the sounnd of Lacota's voice, maybe she can slip away and pretend she wasn't here...and then the novice wakes up and she frowns, "Great" she mutters to herself, all she wanted to do was grab a snack and now she is involved in who knows what, she walks over "Maybe we should just leave quietly..." She looks back at the novice "Umm...bad dream?" She catches sight of the hot root being reach and frowns as she goes to try and place that higher up "Not that.." She says,"Your...umm..upset the otters if they cant have it" Ok not the best reason why to not use it, but she is low on ideas.

Aveelia winces when the mixing bowl finds it's target and calls an apology to the disgruntled novice before moving right along. She looks around, a wild glint in her eye. Then she spots it! There, on the counter is a bowl! She isn't entirely sure what's /in/ the bowl, but it's on the counter, so it must be important. She goes back to where Thorn had put the kitchen stool and grabs one of it's legs, starting to drag it over to the counter. Meanwhile, the novice blanches at Lillymore's threat and makes a placating gesture with his paws. He sees Thorn as she attempts to stop Lillymore and immediately takes her for an ally. He calls to her in a half whisper, "Pssst, miss! We need to help the Friar! He can set all this right."

The lock starts turning. "DID YOU THINK I WOULDN'T HAVE THE KEY WITH ME AT ALL TIMES?" Silence falls again, footsteps descending the stairs... The silence remains for nearly 15 minutes, before steps pound up the stairs once more. Then... More silence, until... *WHAM!* *WHAM!* *WHAM!* The door reverberates from the other side. Just what on earth did the Friar find in the cellar?

Lily shakes a finger at the Novice. "No whispering! I mean it!" She starts at the Friar's hollering, then starts giggling at his pathetic attempt. During his 15 minutes of absence, she drags her chair over the door and jams it securely under the handle. Turning back, she says, "Now, what was I doing? Hey!" She dashes over and goes to get the hotroot pepper again. "I'm gonna use this and I don't care what you say--" *Crash!* The jar of pepper falls to the floor and breaks into so many little pieces, spreading powder everywhere. "NOW LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO!!" She shouts at the rat, gesturing wildly. Suddenly, the huge pot she was going to spike falls off, having been whacked by her paw. She screams as it falls, but fortunately she's not burned as the hot soup spills all over the floor. She jumps, a little frightened as the Friar starts murdurizing the cellar door.

Thorn gasps as the soup and the hot root go all over the floor and she coughs deeply as some powder goes into her nose and mouth and eyes as she rubs her eyes and rushes over to the wash basin and quickly splashes water into her eyes and looks around blurry eyed and finds some left over greensap milk not put away and drinks a lot of it to cool her burning mouth and throat and coughs as she rubs her eyes and eeps as she finds the spilled soup and honey and goes crashing into the shelves and down comes sugar and flour and some oats all over her as she falls onto her bottom. She backs away and stands up and looks to the cellar door and moves the chair away and the spoon in between blams of the door and scoots away, only to fall again onto her bottom.

Aveelia has managed to pull the stool over to the counter and scramble up onto it. She is just about to start climbing the counter when the yelling starts from the cellar. She glances fearfully towards the door, almost tempted to escape now rather than face the music later. However, she steels herself against the fear and turns back to the task at hand: Climbing the counter. She is just about to reach the top when the bottle of hotroot shatters and the giant cloud of the stuff invades the air. She slips and falls to the ground with a shriek and then she is overtaken with coughing. The novice, on the other hand, has covered his face with an empty flour sack and now moves towards Thorn to help her up. He is about to reach out to her when his foot-paw also finds the honey and he slips!

With the chair moved, the next *WHAM* does indeed cause the door to start to come open. "ONCE I GET THIS DOOR OPEN, THE WHOLE LOT OF YOU, YOU'LL BE PEELING POTATOES, SCRUBBING POTS, AND DUSTING THE CELLAR *FOR THE REST OF YOUR NATURAL LIVES*!" The door shudders from another *WHAM!* "AND YOU, NOVICE LEN, I KNOW YOU'RE IN THERE, YOU WERE IN THERE WHEN I WENT DOWNSTAIRS. I PUT YOU IN CHARGE IN MY ABSENCE!!! YOU ARE HEREBY *BANNED* FROM KITCHEN DUTY!" *WHAM!* The door shudders again.

Thorn coughs roughly again, right now she is not able to say or do much too much hot root powder , she takes a couple breaths or tries to as she coughs again and goes to try and open the window, fresh air is what she needs or...maybe a healer as she coughs and actually gets a little ill, well so much for candy nuts and the scone she had, its added to the floor as she throws up and groans curling into a ball and shivers in the corner.

"OH, NO YOU WON'T!" Lily shouts as she grabs a jar of pepper an goes to dump it on Thorn and Novice Len, not caring that the rat just barfed. She goes to grab hold of the Novice's whiskers as she runs by, going to hastily shove the chair under the cellar door handle again. "You'll have to catch me first, lard bum! Ah--ah--CHOO!" She falls on her rump as pepper gets up her nose.

Thorn shakes her head "No...no.." Great she coughs more now and can't catch her breath very good , she goes to shove Lillymoorse off her as she tries to crawl over to the door to leave and whimpers as she passes out, well this can't be good.

Novice Len lets out a groan of dismay as he hears the friar and he starts to crawls over to the door, not trusting himself to walk, "What?!? Please Friar! I love the kitchens! Don't kick me out! Please! PLEASE?!?!" His voice becomes a desperate squeak and he sinks to the floor, groveling in the mess. However, he is not allowed to marinate in his sorrow, for moments later Lillymore runs past and pulls out three of his whiskers! He lets out with a shriek of horror and puts a paw to his face, "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?!?!?! DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG IT TAKES TO GROW THESE?!?!?! GIVE THEM BACK!" He starts to crawl wildly towards Lillymore, aiming to regain his now ripped out whiskers.

The door shudders again, as the doorjamb starts to show a crack. With the handle still jammed with a chair, though, all the strain is forced back on the cracking doorjamb. "IF YOU DON'T OPEN THIS DOOR NOW, I *WILL* BREAK IT DOWN, AND THAT WILL BE REPORTED TO THE ABBOT, TOO. THIS WEDGE IS VERY LARGE, USED TO SPLIT LOGS TO MAKE PLANKS FOR BARRELS... IT *WILL* EVENTUALLY BREAK THE DOOR OPEN!"

Lily hesitates, saying "ummmmm" with a very regretful look on her face. Then she scowls, ignores her already screaming consciouns, and shouts, "Yay, go soak yer head! Yeep!" She rolls out of the way of the Novice and throws his whiskers to him, grumbling, "Here! Lotta good they'll do you! Twiddlepaws! Krinky tail! Nyah, nyah, the Friar is a krinky tail!" She darts to the stove and tips over another pot. Then another. And eventually all the cooking food is on the floor.

Thorn stirs a little but is clearly unconicious now so can't reply to anything right now, her breathing is not that good and she clearly needs a healer soon. The hot root and pepper not a good combo and it got into her lungs and eyes and nose.

Aveelia has now recovered from her coughing fit, though her eyes are still watering from the hotroot. She struggles to her feet, her sleeves flapping at her sides, and stares wide eyed at the mess around her. She runs over to Lillymore, waving her paws in the air to get her attention, "Hey! We need to get outta here! Tha' door is gonna bust!" Meanwhile, Novice Len is cradling his three whiskers in his paws, a broken look covering his face. However, the words of his Friar seem to move him into action. While Lillymore is distracted with the soups, he turns towards the chair holding the cellar door and SHOVES with all his might, yelling at the same time, "FOR WHISKERS!!!!"

  • WHAM!!!* The door slams open. There is then... silence. And suddenly... He enters, unbridled fury simmering. The middle-aged squirrel stands there, paws on hips, scanning the enormous mess with a glare. "LillyMoore, you are in *deep* trouble. You are going to clean this mess, NOW! You, too, Miss Mouse." He frowns, seeing Thorn. "Oh lass... Why?" He sighs, disappointed.

LilyMoore blinks, shuffles her feet while struggling to hide a guilty look, then she jumps off the counter, sending icky liquid whatever-on-earth-it-is flying everywhere and shouts, "You have to catch me, nutjob!" She dashes to the opposite side of the kitchen from the Friar.

Aveelia winces as the Friars gimlet eye falls on her, if only for a second. She gulps and sits down on the floor, awaiting whatever may come. Unlike Lillymore, she decides running is too much work. Novice Len is sitting upon the empty flour sacks again, trying to figure out if its worth it to approach the furious friar now, or wait until later. Maybe a few weeks later.

Lacota looks to the novice, then to LilyMoore. "I am not going to bother... You can't run around forever... However, I *can* wait. I can wait all day, if necessary. We just won't unlock the doors."

Lily looks truly frightened now, and she screams as a guard bangs on the door. "Oi! What's goin' on in here?" Suddenly, the unlocked kitchen window bangs open and DoraRose slides in, snow sticking to her skirt. She gasps, slips, and almost falls on the ick that's on the floor. Looking around, she takes the scene in, her blue eyes flashing as she gets angrier and angrier. She takes 3 steps in, glares at her daughter, and asks in a dangerously calm voice, "What. happened. in. here?!"

Emyuil pokes his head around the window frame curiously. He'd followed his older sister out to see what was going on. He says nothing, but stifles the slightest twitch of the corner of his mouth.

Aveelia's eyes widen as DoraRose appears and Emyuil comes into veiw. Oh dear, more adults. She scurries over to where Novice Len is sitting and situates herself on the flour sacks behind him; peeking over his shoulder, so she can be relatively safe from anyone's angry glaring.

Lacota crosses his arms, tapping his fingers. "Glad to have you join us, DoraRose." He moves to the door, unlocking it quickly and admitting the guard into the room. "No need for alarm, sir, I have absolutely *everything* under control." The kitchen looks like a warzone or the aftermath of a vermin horde. "As you can see, I can handle this, thank you..." He starts to usher the guard right back out the door again.

The guard whistles in admiration. "Whoa. An' a couple o' Dibbuns did this? I'd better tell the Abbot..." He leaves and goes to tell the Abbot. DoraRose puts a paw to her forehead as her temper mounts. "What. In the name of mice. Were you thinking?!" She turns to the Friar as Lily gulps. "What, exactly, happened?" She looks at the cellar door. "Holy...did they lock you in the cellar?!"

Emyuil's eyes shine with suppressed mirth. "Yeah, I'm wondering that too," he says, trying to keep the laughter out of his voice.

Aveelia shudders as the guard goes off to speak with the Abbot. This wasn't what she was expecting from a small trip to the kitchens for a snack. She pipes up from behind Len, pointing adamantly at Lillymore "She locked all 'e doors! Thorn and me weren't gonna do anythin'!" Not entirely true, but now's not the time for technicalities.

Lacota brandishes the cellarkeeper's mallet. "As a matter of fact, they did. Using this, and a wedge, I knocked it the door open again, though I'm afraid at the expense of damaging the doorjamb pretty severely. It'll have to be repaired by a carpenter. In the meantime, ma'am, your daughter and her friend hiding behind Len over there are *both* going to spend the *rest* of today, and *ALL NIGHT*, if necessary, cleaning this mess, TOP TO BOTTOM, *ALONE*. LilyMoore, you had better have this kitchen completely spic and span by morning, or you will be peeling potatoes for the rest of your life." He sighs, rubbing his temples. "Now I have a massive headache, and on top of that, *I* have to explain to the Abbot why there will be no dinner tonight..."

Emyuil looks around and finally allows himself a small chuckle, knowing his sister'll get mad at him anyways.

LilyMoore stares at her mother in abject horror. DoraRose scowls back. "Get working." LilyMoore sniffs and goes to get mops, rags, soap and buckets of water. The adult mouse whacks her brother as hard as she can, growlign at him to lay off. After apologizing to the Friar, she climbs back out the window to go tell her husband what their daughter has done this time...

Emyuil yelps when he gets whacked, but scurries off after DoraRose regardless.

Aveelia scowles as the Friar points her out so specifically and stands to go help Lillymore. Len wasn't being a very efficient shield. Said scarred squirrel stands now and tentatively approaches Lacota, "F-friar? Maybe you wont have to tell the Abbot there will be no dinner. Maybe, if you temporarily removed my ban from the kitchen, I could make something quick." His eyes look pleadingly at the other squirrel.

Lacota watches LilyMoore, nodding in satisfaction. "You too, Miss Mouse, and Len... You get the unenviable task of making sure these two young ladies finish the job right. I might consider your request, if you promise NO MORE SLEEPING ON THE JOB!"
