Dancin' news

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Its another quiet night at the bar, meaning that its boring for the barmaid, but also a welcome relief from the normal craziness. She is leaned against the back wall behind the counter, wiping a tankard with a rag.

Philio comes in from the entrance, a slight breeze enters with the beast.

A thunking sound starts up as a beast crosses the threshold, a crutch under his arm. Still wincing a little Jo sighs and looks around and hobbles to a table and takes a seat, glad for a little quiet but still wanting to hear the constant giggles of Sanctus who finally went to sleep.

Ayita looks up and offers a cheery wave. "'ello. Want a drink? Somethin' te eat?" She puts the tankard down and then looks back up, realizing who it is. "Oh, 'ey Jo." her accent is always thickest when she's behind the counter.

Jo smiles a little and returns the wave, "Erm...what do ye' 'ave for a recoverin' beast who still has his crutch?" He slouches in the chair but thinks better of it because of the new stitches and sits back up.

Ayita gives him a weird look. "Erm...the same food for the normal beasts." She grabs the clean tankard again. "So, what'll it be?" Her gaze ficks up and down over him. "An' ye' look better then ye did earlier. Recoverin' well?"

Jo puts a paw of his face and exhales through his fingers, "If ye' 'ave tea possibly? If not then a little ale." He nods a little and rubs his shoulder, still a little painful. "Yeah, Otto did a good job fixin me up. And Gwennythe replaced my stitches."

Ayita nods and disappears under the counter, retrieves a cup, and goes to the back room fr a moment, returning with tea. "Otto...Otto...Don't know him. Did Gwennythe get out of the abbey alright, then?" She passes the tea along. "Ye' want a spot to eat as well?"

Philio has disconnected.

Jo accepts the tea and takes a sip and smacks his lips, "Otto is one of the healers of the Abbey, and Aye Gwennythe got out fine. She said she took a detour?" He says a little confusedly though the word sounds odd, he takes another sip of tea.

Ayita shrugs. She doesn't know what that would mean, either. She rests her elbows on the counter, "So. Ye got yeself a girlfriend since I seen ye last?" she asks with a smile.

Jo chuckles and shakes his head, "Nah...not anybody at the Abbey that has caught my attention." He looks up at the ceiling and blinks a few times and then looks back down, and takes another sip of tea.

Ayita nods. "Well, I'm sorry 'bout that then. Plenty of good gels here, though. Ye might find one ye like." She gives a smile and straightens up again to move along the counter, throwing some of the left over cookies onto a plate and setting it aside.

Jo shrugs a little and sighs, "So hows life lately?" He leans back in his chair a little, though watching the weight on his leg.

Ayita grins. "Its great, lovin' it." She nods towards him. "You? I mean, aside from...all tha'-" she waves a paw at his injuries, giving a little wink.

"Well, heh heh yes besides being cut up a tad. I have been good, erm....I have recently...ado....er he kinda actually adopted me but." Jo shrugs and sips his tea.

Ayita smiles shyly and grabs a plate, going after cleaning that with a rag. "Ye got adopted, eh? Tha's nice." She frowns a little. "I'm sorry I left the way I did, by the way. I got yer letter... I just..." she frees a paw from the plate to rub at the back of her neck in an embaressed way. "I was angry when I sent that reply, I didn' mean it..."

Jo looks down and nods, "Well actually I adopted a dibbun but, he asked me to adopt him. He took a likin' to me when he came to camp willow with Flick." He sips his tea, "I...it's ok." He says gently.

Ayita nods. "Oh, ye adopted." Her own gentle smile returns. "Congragulations, mate. I got me own dibbun as well, name Linu. Adopted him from the orphanage. They could have a playdate someday." Her ears flick back a little. "I did like ye ye know. I jus' got scared, life got real weird for me, yeah."

Rorri comes in from the entrance, a slight breeze enters with the beast.

Rorri has arrived.

Jelal comes in from the entrance, a slight breeze enters with the beast.

Could this conversation get anymore awkward? Maybe. But Phil is a good breaker of things. His happy excited side tends to do that. Sides. He has excellent news. That must be shared with the world. He enters the tavern. Wearing his normal town clothes. As he had the day off. And he goes over to the bar. Smiling at Ita. Then at Jo. Jo and Ita in the same room? Interesting. He waves at them both, "Hey" he grins big. Before looking to Ita, "Do you think its too early for a celebration?" he winks and laughs.

Jelal says, "Safe now. Going back to the pub for a few drinks. That lot aren't invited." Claviger murmurs, splitting her attention between watching Madison, watching where she's going and keeping ears, at least, perked for Castus. "Keep talking; will do her more good than silence." She tries to advise, though she sounds a little strained herself."

Jelal says, "I'm glad you're all right," Castus blurts out at Claviger's behest. "You're... you're safe now. Heh, we... we sent them packing. Played a trick on them in fact, they're on their way to kill each other right now." He smiles. "I did a pretty good vermin voice myself... but, you know, you don't have to worry about that now." He reaches out as they move and quickly squeezes her shoulder. "You're safe." "

Jo nods and grins, "I have seen tat' little beast trying to hide and such, it gets to be a type of fun to see him sneak. And yes, I am sure they would love tat', The last one Sanctus had a kindof playdate with was Philio." He says then blushes slightly but not much, "I understand, sometimes life can be a bit.....overwhelming."

Speaking of Philio... Oh! HERE HE IS! And he has excellent news.

Ayita shrugs. "Aye. Funny how things happen." and with a grin "Yeh, he's a pawful, but I love every minute of it." She looks up in suprise as Phil enters and waves. "Never too early for a celebration, whats the occassion?"

If anyone's going to be in the same room as anyone else, it's going to be Jelal. Everyone deserves to have him in the same room as them. Because he is /that/ cool and happy and nice. He doesn't threaten to slam the doors from their hinges this time, though. Rather, he has achieved some self-control and just gently opens it like a normal door. But the moment his eyes light on his new companions (otters just like him, yay), he raises his paw and waves. "If we're 'avin a party, I'd be glad ta' come up with an excuse!"

Jo chuckles and shakes his head, taking a sip of tea he looks up at the ceiling in thought.

Ayita offers Jelal a cheery wave, though frowning inwardly. Ugh, he's one of the loud ones, unfortunately. "So, out with it Phil. What are we celebratin?"

Philio pulls at his vest. Like he is some sort of royalty, "Well. Im thinking a party for me... And my... fiance!" he grins big, "Kass said yes. SHE SAID YES, Ita!!" He laughs and grins wildly, "Party. Tonight. Drinks. Fish. Biscuits. Music. They whole nine frogging yards!" He practically jumps up and down.

"Fiancee? Congratulations!" Jelal says, coming up behind Phil and clapping him on the back. "No wonder you're lookin' so jolly!"

Rorri enters quietly, slipping through the door with little fanfare. His eyes immediately focus on the bar, and, more specifically, the barmaid, before casting around the rest of the room.

Ayita practically vaults the counter in her attempts to jump at Phil with the biggest congratulatory hug in the world. "Congragulations!!" She hustels back to the bar. "Free drinks tonight!" She throws Jo a smile over her shoulder and bends over to grab several mugs and line them up on the bar. Then the door opens again and another wide grin splits her face as she waves to Rorri.

Jo starts to smile, trying not to be a downer to the sudden news. "Congrats Philio." He says with a wink.

Philio grins as he returns the hug, before getting belted in the back by Jelal. And he uffs lightly as he is shoot forward a bit, "Thank ye all! This is like... The happiest day of my life... I mean. It was just... Oh my god!" he grins as he goes back to the bar, "Free drinks? Well good! This party is gonna cost he a hells trip and more" he laughs, "I still have to tell... Well. Everyone else!" he grins just beaming up a storm. Not seeing Rorri just yet.

With a smile, Rorri returns the wave, making his way to the bar and stepping up easily to sit on one of the tall stools.

Ayita fills each mug to the brim and slides them across the bar to each beast, still grinning. Happy day, happy day! "Good on you, mate!" She disappears into the back for the only meal she already had made: A large plate of kippers! She sets it out on the bar as well, and goes over to Rorri. "Ye think you'll go fr an ale tonight, or stick with the apple juice and/or cider?" She winks.

"With the apple stuff, it may or may not count for that, anyway," Rorri replies, one eye giving off a single, solitary twitch. "But since it's a party...? I guess I'll have an ale." The otter crosses his arms on the countertop, smiling.

Jo take another sip at his tea, "I think i'll stick with me tea, can't have a woozy healin' parent now could I?" He sips again and smiles.

Jelal gladly takes a mug of ale and quaffs it. "Indeed. Happy day, Phil!" he congratulates with a wide grin. Everyone's happy, and that makes him happy. He doesn't even know who the intended bride is, but who cares! It must be a good idea if everyone's so excited about it.

Ayita grabs an ale to pass to Rorri and grins at Jo. "Well, alright then, be boring!" She gives him a wink, too - a brief bat of the eyelashes. She looks over at Jelal. "I take it you'll be having an ale?" Her muzzle twitches into a smile.

"Oh, ah, yep!" Jelal says, raising the mug high. "Wunner if some music is in order. I play a mean harecordion!"

Philio smiles at the ale, but refuses it for now. Chuckling at Rorri "There the way mate. Its not everyday that an otter asks to be tied down by his girl!" he laughs, "Thank you again Jelal... After she gets working for the day. Im gonna make her come here. Then... Party time! And you can. I can do a mean jig if you are up for it eh? Put yourself with the regulars?" he shoes a toothy grin.

Jo laughs a little, "Fine Ayita, Ill have some ale...." He trails off, "Though I will not get tipsy."

Ayita nods. "Thats the spirit." She grabs him an ale as well! Yay alcohol! After dishing out the drinks, she moves out from behind the bar to sit in between Jo and Rorri. "So, how'd you ask her, Phil?"

Rorri accepts the ale, taking a small sip, or at the very least appearing to. He smacks his lips critically, eyes looking up and to the right, then chuckling. "It's good."

Jo takes a sip and makes a slight face, "I 'aven't had ale often, I never got into the cellars ever so..." He sips at it again, putting his tea aside for later.

"Ha! I'd practically live in the cellar if I 'ad a choice!" Jelal says, raising his mug at Jo. "Ale is the way ta' go. An' grog, sometimes. Beer, too. Had it all, really. Wasn't much else ta' do on a quiet night!"

Philio taps the bar a few times. And if he wasn't so tipsy on life. He probably wasn't going to regale them with the tale. But he is GONNA NOW, "Well. Me and Kass have terrible work times. So. I sent her a note to meet me at the Skippers cabin for lunch when we both had times off. I set a small picnic for us at the top of the cabin. Wine. Cheese. The whole shibang. So we sat at the top of the cabin. And i said that i have something important to tell her. And she says 'Someone once told me, that i wasnt the marrying type. But ask me anyway'..." he grins, "Then i got on my knee. Told about how much i loved her... Then... Showed her the necklace... And..." he smiles, "Here i am!"

Jo chuckles and sips some more ale, "Aye here Ye' are Philio!" He raises his mug to the otter and take a big gulp of it, near coughing but not quite at the different taste.....as apposed to tea...

Ayita claps her paws. "Well, congragulations!" Again. She throws Rorri and Jo two curious looks; they can't handle their ale well, apparently. Wimps! Though, she's not one to talk, she's keeping away from the drinks herself.

Rorri handles it fine; he was making a joke. Or trying, anyway. The otter returns one curious look with another.

Jo blinks at Ayita, "What?" He says simply as a question, "Think I can't handle ale?"

"Obviously." she smirks at him before looking back over at Rorri and raises an eyebrow.

Jelal is handling his ale just fine! Throwing it around without spilling a single drop, chugging it down like there's no tomorrow. "That's beautiful, matey," he compliments Phil. "Quite a place ta' make a proposal, on a rooftop! Not that I'd know, since, ha, never proposed! Yet." Of course he will get a girl himself! One day. Don't think he can't.

Rorri's brow furrows slightly, but he decides against pointing out his un-funny joke. "Nothing, just fooling around." Yeah, that's a good explanation.

Philio shakes his head at them, with a smile, "Hmmm. Well. I would offer a drinking contest. But i have a girl waiting for me. And i need to be a bit cohearant when i tell me dad that im engaged..." Or else he might think that he is crazy, "It was a great place mate. I thought of it when i was stuck up there for a few hours..." he chuckles a bit.

Jo takes another mouthful of ale and sets it down and rubs his temple a little, 'This subject?' He says in his mind. "Heh heh, better to be able to talk straight than sounding like you've been drinkin' all day."

Ayita nods. "And then...jumped down like a cat." she adds to Phil's statement and then looks blankly at Jo for a moment. He has a certain...knack for stating the obvious. She shrugs and turns back to look at Rorri now, light smile opening across her muzzle and a little giggle escaping. "Oh, alright then."

Jo picks his ale back up and take a gulp, "Well, I am kinda liking this ale." He laughs a little bit and takes another drink.

"You should! It's stout. Just like otters need ta' be," Jelal says, giving Jo's shoulder a light smack. He nods at Phil again, grinning and showing his teeth. "You've a grand new life ahead a' ya, mate. Congrats again.

Rorri returns the smile, holding the mug on the countertop.

Philio smiles at everyone before saying, "Well. I must be off. Thank ye again guys. Will be back with the bride to be. So everyone can meet her! Properly!" he laughs as he heads toward the door, "Keep the ale a'pouring Ita. And the music a'playing!" he laughs before heading out the door. And he gone!

Ayita looks up at the band, who have switched their style from upbeat, party songs, to more slow, relaxed beats almost the second Phil left. The idea of a 'party' now was...empty. Without the source of said party. An awkward pause follows his departure. "So." she says, and looks up at the ceiling. "Anyone want to dance?"

Jo coughs a little and puts his mug on the counter and grabs his tea and chugs it.

Rorri isn't the coughing type. "Dance?"

"Dance!" The mug goes slapping down onto the counter now. Jelal rubs his paws and straightens his tunic. "Say dance an' you'll 'ave me there, maties!" He bounds onto the floor and assumes a very posh, regal stance. "Come on! I'll pull the rug out from any one o' ya'!"

Jo pats his chest and clears his throat, "Im sorry, tat' ale was getting to me." He hears the word dancing,

Ayita laughs and stands. "Any brave takers?" she gestures to Jelal. "If not, I'll have to dance with him, and I'm afraid that might be toomuch for the tavern to contain."

Jelal room-pages, "We will raise the roof. Literally.".

"Dancing..." Rorri glances down at his feet, trying to discern whether or not it would be worth the risk of utter humiliation.

Jo blinks, "Wait dance with him?" He points at Jelal

Ayita laughs. "Just grab a partner or I'll pick one for you." she demands in a mock commanding voice.

You page, "oi....im trying to decide haha!" to Ayita.

"Ahh, ya'll look like she's askin' ya' ta' run around tarred an' feathered!" Jelal says, waving at Jo and Rorri like they're little annoyances. "S'not so bad! I mean. It's /dancing./ You jump around and stomp the floor like real otters!"

"Well, hmm...im not sure who to pick." Jo laughs a little, "Ye' know I 'ave stitches in me thigh? They'd come out." He looks over at Ayita and shrugs a little, "I am not sure who to dance with." He says ucertainly.

Ayita waves a paw at Jelal. "Well... sort of." The song though seems a little too slow for just bouncing and stomping. "And a little slow dancing never hurt anybody!" she grins at Jo's excuses, excuses.

There's no way Rorri's dancing if it's not with Ayita, because there's /no way/ he's dancing with Jelal. He seizes the opportunity bought him by Jo's indecision and hops off his stool, making a beeline for the female otter. "I hope you know what you're getting yourself into..."

Jo leans back in his seat, and sips at his tea some more, kindof irritated at himself about some things. He puts on a smile and tries to enjoy it all.

Jelal looks around. It's a tavern! There's plenty to pick from. Not all cute females, sure, but, it's not like this is a romantic deal. "Oh, sure," he says, putting his paws on hips. "Go for the one with the pretty eyelashes. You're missin' out, mate!" He points at Rorri and seems to ignore Jo now, being the stick in the mud that he is. So time to go find someone for himself. Or heck, just jump on a table and jig.

"Its dancing, its easy!" Ita reassures him, moving onto the floor and holding her arms out, a light smile is played across her muzzle, the color in her cheeks flushing a soft pink. Though, you can't see it under the fur, phew. She laughs at Jelal though. "Hoi, the one with the pretty eyelashes just gave you a free drink!" Two actually, if she recalls correctly. She looks over at Jo "Yeah, just grab any girl!"

Jo chuckles and shrugs, trying to decied if he should get up off his tail and listen to the suggestion or just sit there not having fun. "I...." He thinks some more.

How is that a hard decision? Rorri steps up, familiar with the way your paws are supposed to go, and puts one at Ayita's waist, the other in her paw. "That right?"

Well, its Jo's fault he snoozed and lost, so her attention is directed to Rorri. "Yep, though -" she shifts her body so that the paw on her waist wraps around her back eeeeever so slightly, allowing a more close-knit dance. "There." She nods. "Now...just sway a little."

"Gerrup, ya' pansy!" Jelal yells at Jo from across the room. He's selected a perky looking female a bit older than himself, but still more than willing to go along. He points to the band. "Somethin' light, but not too slow if ya' please?" They oblige.

"Oi! Im no pansy, boy!" Jo says back to Jelal, He gets up and winces a little bit but the pain in his leg go's away a little.

Ayita doesn't really care that they're a beat or two off, she keeps up with the swaying, letting him lead - some confidence would do him good, maybe letting him do the directing in a dance would help, even if its just a little. Somehow during the dancing she manages to drift a step or two closer.

Ayita pages, "Your making my hands itch! Go's = GOES xDxD" to you.

You page, "sorry sorry! i was unsure! D:" to Ayita.

"Oi! Im no pansy, boy!" Jo says back to Jelal, He gets up and winces a little bit but the pain in his leg goes away a little.

Swaying. The best way to cover up the fact that you don't know how to do anything except shuffle around back and forth. And yet, it's so much fun with the right person. Jelal is talking and joking lightly with his chosen partner as they swirl about a bit quicker, the band providing a nice, melodic backdrop.

Confidence in general is not a problem for Rorri; confiDANCE, on the other hand, is a little lacking. He seems to be more interested in swaying contentedly, paw resting lightly in its place.

Annabelle steps out onto the dance floor, angling towards the wincing otter who's just got off his bum. The /drop/ /dead/ /gorgeous/ ottermaid taps him lightly on the shoulder. "Uhm, excuse me..? Sir...?"

Jo perks his ears towards the female otter, "Yes?" He asks with curiosity.

Well, if thats what he wants to call it, that works too. Ayita sticks with the swaying, and after a moment or two her head finds itself a comfortable nook in the the area between his shoulder and neck.

Annabelle bats her ridiculously long eyelashes, paws falling to the hips of the bodice that covers her fine red silken dress. "I was wondering if big-strong-You would dance with little-old-Me." She gives him a simpering smile and ducks her head shyly, batting her lashes some more.

Ayita is jealous of the hottie talking to Jo. Jealous of her beauty, that is.

Jelal and his partner seem rather engrossed in one another. Little old Annabelle has nothing on a great personality!

Jo grins slightly and bows a little, "I would be delighted." He says.

Rorri keeps swaying, and swaying, and swaying. It's not so bad, this dancing thing. He could learn to like it.

"Oh, /goody!/" Annabelle's face lights up in a tremendously large smile, revealing perfectly shaped teeth the color of newly fallen snow, /before/ it gets all icky. She curtsies a little, since he's bowing.

Sway, sway, sway. Its nice, simple, mundane - but in a good way. Ayita hides a smirk as she sees Jo and his hottie.

Rorri doesn't really notice the impossibly beautiful creature hovering around Jo, and frankly he could care less. He's swaying, man.

So is Jelal. But more laughing and flirting involved. Fun times!

Jo takes Annabelle's paw and leads her to a better area than by the bar to dance, and he starts to start off slowly because of his stitches.

But the music is quick and lively! Annabelle's pace is somewhat faster than Jo's, and she doesn't seem very attentive to whatever's up with his leg. She looks great, though.

Wondering briefly if Jo paid Annabelle to dance with him, Ayita keeps with the swaying. "See? Easy..." she mutters.

Jo starts dancing faster to keep up pace with Annabelle, surprised that his injuries aren't hurting at the moment. "Heh heh heh...." He chuckles.

"Yeah, it seems a little /too/ easy. Surely there's more to it?" Rorri asks, voice a soft, comfortable murmur.

"You are doing /fabulous,/ you big handsome beast, you!" Annabelle flashes her perfect smile, exuding a waft of her perfect breath. "Spin me!"

"Of course there is. But...this is nice. If you want to do more you can...move your feet or something." She takes a slight step back and then another one forward. "Like this." Her head is still nestled against his neck, one paw draped over a shoulder.

"Of course!" Jelal says as he and his partner go swaying by. "Ya want more? 'Ey! Mateys!" He calls to the band. "Up the tempo 'ere! Rorri wants a bit more outta this jig!" And suddenly the tune is growing that much more upbeat, just in time for any spin Jo tries to do.

"Oh, that's not hard, either," Rorri replies, following her motion and continuing it, perserving the sway at the same time.

Jo blinks at the sudden rise in tempo of the music, and laughs a little bit. And twirls around with Annabelle, matching the tempo.

"Very good." Ayita encourages, giving a little laugh.

Annabelle giggles with unbriddled glee, whirling faster and faster! Her footwork is flawless as she effortlessly spins around and around

"Thanks." Rorri's pleased with how well this seems to have gone so far. Unless she's patronizing him, or something.

Wow, that looks like fun. With a sly look to his companion, Jelal and his partner, we'll call her Jolie, take a few steps and really go at it now, spinning and locking arms and stomping the floor as they begin to just enjoy themselves. Listening to their own private soundtrack.

Jo keeps up with Annabelle, surprised at how he can keep up, "Heh heh, this is the most fun I have had for a long time!" He exclaims, and keeps twirling about with the otter.

As fun as this close dancing is, Ayita has a son to check in on, and...well thats pretty much it. "I think I should be getting home soon..." she murmurs apologetically into his ear.

Rorri nods, his head brushing against her's. "Right," he murmurs in reply, steering towards the edge of the dancefloor.

Ayita pulls herself free of Rorri and gives a cheery wave to the jaunty crowd. After a pause she looks over at Rorri again. He could walk her home. That would be gentlemanly.

"This is absolutely /amazing!/" Annabelle gleefully proclaims. However, just then, a rogue dancer trips and sprawls into the queen of the dancefloor! The gorgeous creature latches onto Jo as she trips and falls!

"...I could walk you home," Rorri offers, holding out his paw.

Hey, look, he can take a hint! "Oh, sure." She takes the offered paw with a smile and heads for the door.

Jo catches Annabelle and pulls her back up to her footpaws, "Up ye' go!" He says to her.

Rorri gets the door for her, stepping out behind her into the brisk, late-evening air.

"Oh! /Thank/ you!" Annabelle's frightened eyes have welled up with tears, but none actually fall. Instead, she leans in to plant a kiss on the otter. "My hero..." she murmurs.

Jo blushes a little at the kiss and rubs the back of his head with a paw in a shy way, "Your welcome." He says with a wide grin. Kinda in the clouds at the moment now.

"Strange beasts on the dance floor tonight, huh?" Jolie asks Jelal. "Ahh," the male exclaims, "true, makes me even 'appier I got the one who dances best!" And away they go again, ignoring all the other... awkward... happenings around them.

With a smile and a batting of her eyelashes, Annabelle turns and quickly flounces off, hiding her nervous embarrassment behind a wall of dancers.

Jo kinda twirls about, humming and kinda staggering about in a small dance of his and plops down in a chair and sips at his tea, grinning kindof funny too…….’Oh Sanctus would laugh his tail off.’ He thinks to himself, “Oi! Sanctus!” He gets up and grabs his crutch and hurries out the door.
