Consequences of fighting with the Great Ones (A Redwall log)

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

The Redwallers have returned to their Abbey after the battle to save Camp Willow. Let's visit with some of them, shall we?

RW Abbey: Infirmary

Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Exits: Infirmary [Rec]overy Room, [H]ealer's [D]ormitory, [O]pen [G]round, [Hall]

Badgers: Zee, male. Zinnia, female.

Mice: DoraRose and Angela, females. Emyuil, male.

Zee lays in one of the cots. It took a group of strong otters to get him here on a stretcher and they helped to get the seriously dented armor off him. It's clear right away that armor saved his life more than once. The chainmail ad padding on his arms and legs was easier to get off but was bent and sliced in some places and some chain mail bits went into his upper right arm. His chest and back is bruised badly and he has a couple cracked ribs.

The badger also has, where some armor loosened from numerous hits right at the collar bone area, a rather nasty gush going down his shoulder and to his upper arm, the same arm that had bits of chainmail stuck it. A large cut on his forehead, cuts on his arms and legs and some bruises there as well and he has been unconscious the past few hours, and has yet to wake up.

DoraRose is staring at the ceiling. No, she's GLARING at it. It's the second day after the Camp Willow battle, and she has still not been allowed to get out of bed. Her grandmother had successfully removed the arrows from the Warrior's arm and thigh, and forced her to not even sit up except to eat. Dora sighs heavily and bends her right leg. Drumming her finger on her uninjured thigh, she tries her level best to keep her left side still, despite her growing restlessness. A Healer goes to check on the male badger. Angela is busy making some mint and white willow bark tea.

Zinnia knows they are back and tried to busy herself and the one time she tried to come here she was stopped, but her Uncle Oz is not here to stop her now as she comes in and rushes over to Zees side, "Uncle zee...uncle Zee please wake up, say something to me" Tears of worry go down her face, "Please I can't lose you too"

Zee doesn't respond. He is breathing but his eyes remain closed, and his pulse is still a little weak. He did take a good beating at the camp and a couple stoats though it be great fun to try and take down a badger. They clearly failed but one did finally knock him out, luckily an other finished off that Viking before it got a chance to stab Zee in the neck, so he is lucky to even be breathing right now.

Emyuil has been in the infirmary for quite some time now, only occasionally, and reluctantly, leaving his sister's side out of concern. He stands up from the chair he's in over in the corner and comes over to check on her yet again.

DoraRose sits up a little, leaning on her right arm. Her left arm and left thigh are bandaged, and they have both been immobilized to try and prevent further injury. Straightening her right leg again, she says nothing. What can she say? Angela leaves the tea she's brewing and hobbles over to the badgers. "We're doin' all we can. Keep talkin' to 'im, it might 'elp, but please be careful if ye grab 'is paw'r somethin'." As her brother comes over, Dora looks at him, eyes wide, both concern and irritation evident on her face. ".....wanna go dancin'?" she asks him jokingly in a whisper. "I hope Zee wakes up soon," she adds more seriously.

Zinnia frowns as the tears fall, she carefully holds a paw not so bandaged and looks to Angela "Why won't he wake up? Is he gonna be ok please...I can't lose him too. I lost papa and most likely lost Xander...you can't let him die please."

Despite himself, Emyuil snorts at his sister's weary quip. "Heh. Guess not. Did anyone get that rat that shot at us?"

Zee still lays there, un moving or responding to anything. Even his paw being touched. He is still in a deep faint it seems. An area on his shoulder seeps some blood a little.

Angela goes to lay a gentle paw on the badgermaid's shoulder. "I'll do everythin' I can, but I can't make any promises. I'm sorry that I can't give ya anythin' firm. But I'll do what I can." Dora raises and lowers her right shoulder and lays back down. "I have no idea. I hope so."

Zinnia frowns, she is very worried and thats clear, "But he has not woken up yet, why has he not woke up yet?"

"If not, I will," Emyuil says firmly. He sits on the edge of the bed, careful not to sit on his sister. "So...what d'you wanna talk about?"

"Oy... me 'ead..." comes a voice from nearby. "I... feel like I gotta... whole army... marchin' away in me noggin..."

Zee moves his fingers on one paw a little, just ever so slightly, but no sound comes from him. He is still unconscious and will be for a day or two yet, maybe longer it's hard to tell yet.

DoraRose goes to grab a hold of the front of her brother's shirt and pulls him a little closer. She had better have his FULL attention. "You are NOT to go after those....Monsters. YOU are /going/ to stay /here/, even if Nana and I have to drug you, so help me!" Angela turns and looks at the person the voice belongs to. "Oh, so ye're awake now, huh? Do ya 'urt anywhere else?"

Zinnia looks at Zee, the injuries and she got a brief glace when thee otters carried him in...the armor and how it looked, she stands and rushes off. She is not staying here to possibly watch him die in front of her, if he wakes up someone will find her locked in the library book binding room, 'sides she has some journal logs to write

Emyuil yelps, taken by surprise as he's pulled towards DoraRose. "Okay, okay," he grumbles. "Fine."

Lee moans. "Ev'rywhere... I feel like I been beat to death..."

"Y'almost were, son." Angela goes and gets a cup of the mint-and-white-willow-bark tea. Putting in lots of honey, she brings it back over to the otter and goes to help him sip it. "Drink this very slowly, y'ear." Dora goes to wrap her good arm around her brother's neck in a fierce hug. "You had better. After seeing what those....Monsters...are really like....don't you /ever/ go after them by yourself, or I'll never speak to you again!!" Okay, so she's overreacting and probably doesn't actually mean that last part, but she does not want her brother to die by the paws of those..../animals/.

Emyuil returns the hug. "Don't worry 'rose," he says softly. "I won't." He goes to kiss her on the cheek gently.

Lee sips the tea slowly, wincing a bit. "Tha' fox was a brute... Oy... Thank ye for the tea, Angela..."

DoraRose is crying a little now, so her brother's lips will probably get a little wet. "....I was terrified...." she quietly admits. Angela nods, smiling softly. "Ye're gonna 'ave a long road o' 'ealin' to do before I'm willin' to let ye do much walkin', but I think ye'll be on a good track if ye continue to listen t'me." And after a pause. "Ye're welcome."

Emyuil hugs DoraRose if she lets him. He wants to take away her pain, suffer instead of her. "It's okay...I'm here, and it's over. It'll be all right." He reaches up to stroke her ears if she'll allow it, trying to comfort her, again, playing the role that their deceased father once did.
