Busy Morning

  • Ferravale Marketplace*

Scioto is doing an early morning patrol and is walking along the streets quietly, his sword at his side as he walks.

Christopher is sitting outside on the step into the Pottery shop, leaning back against the shut door with a mug in his paws. He doesn't notice the cat just yet, the stoat staring down into his mug, humming an old tune to himself.

Scioto walks over, "Greetings" he states quietly, "You are new here as I do not recognize you at all"

Christopher blinks a little bit when he hears the voice. The humming comes to an end as he glances up slowly, staring at the cat for a moment before he smiles. "Hey...yeah, I am. Staying with my uncle for a bit." he taps on the door behind him lightly.

Scioto raises an eyebrow at this, "Your uncle is..a rat?" He shakes his head, "Anyways your welcome to stay if you so choose, maybe even offer your skills, they have been some trouble along the road, not very safe at the time being to wander around"

Christopher nods slowly and stands up, brushing himself off with one paw. "Yeah. He sort of adopted my father as a brother and well." he laughs a bit, rubbing the back of his head. "It’s been craziness ever since." he then nods. "I've been thinking about it honestly. I've heard of everything going on. It’s always something isn't it?" he chuckles a little bit.

Scioto nods "I am hoping the problems end soon and the village could always use more beasts,..guards, shop keepers, cooks and helpers for the Inn and...tavern" He sighs a bit on the tavern issue, "Or could just be a resident"

Christopher watches the cat carefully for a moment as he speaks before he nods. "Yeah. Well, honestly." he glances around for a second. "I've been thinking of staying. I'm a decent baker, and I like books. I've been thinking of opening a bookshop or seeing if they need help at the bakery." he nods towards said store. "Though I haven't seen anyone go in or out of it since I got here." He thinks.

Scioto says, "We don’t have a baker now, they left and never did return, the bakery was damaged but recently repaired."

Christopher ohs and looks back toward the bakery for a moment. "Ah, I see." he replies. "Well. I wouldn't mind something like that. I guess it could be a little easier than outright building a bookstore." he laughs a little. "If anyone around here can even read." , He jokes.

Scioto narrows his eyes a little, "Beasts here can read,..I can, and yes some can't but they can still do other things and I would be careful who I say that too, some don’t take kindly to it"

Chris's eyes widen a little bit at the response, before putting his paws up a little bit. "Oh, I'm sorry...I didn't mean to offend anyone. I'm just not used to being around other vermin species. All I've really known is the stereotypes and such." It’s a moment later he realizes that what he said could also be taken the wrong way. Rubbing the back of his head, he sighs. "I'll just shut up now." he glances downward.

Scioto nods "You are forgiven, I have just been under stress, the fox Vladmir Stormfeather is the one causing all the problems, and he has my daughter captive...he killed my mate and my son, he has also recently killed a beast acting as a bodyguard"

Christopher glances back up and sighs. "I know what you're going through." He says fairly quietly. "My family kind of went through the same thing a long, long time ago." he thinks for a moment. "I can't offer much help in fighting unless I'm really needed. But my nephew is here too. He'd probably be glad to lend a paw in that area. You can find him at the inn, or the tavern if you want to talk to him." He nods.

Scioto nods "What is his name?"

"Thane." Christopher replies before quickly putting a paw up. "But I warn you. He doesn't like this place. Nor is he very nice to start with." he doesn't bother mentioning he's basically still just a kid, but he knows that doesn't really matter. "He'd probably agree to help if you mention the chance to hurt someone."

Scioto listens carefully "I have not seen a Thane around, sorry...then been beasts in and out, even a small group of woodlanders looking for a safe place while the insane fox is out there"

Christopher chuckles a bit. "He came up with me only a day or so ago." he replies. "He probably just stays in his room or is out practicing somewhere." he shrugs.

Scioto ahhs "I see, practicing skills is always good, keeps ones skills in good shape "

Christopher nods. "Yeah. And unfortunately, he's fairly skilled for his age. Which I don't like but." He shrugs. "I can't convince him otherwise I suppose."

Scioto says, "being very skilled is not a bad thing, could come in handy"

Christopher shakes his head. "Not at all, no. But I view Thane as. Well, being as close to evil as it gets without actually being evil." he thinks for a moment. "Which is sad really."

Scioto hmmms "Just so he..is not wanting to fight me or my guards, then he can stay, but if he is trues to help the enemy, well could be a mistake"

Christopher nods slowly. "He'd never help that fox, I can promise you that. And as long as he's happy, you shouldn't have a problem. Just...try not to get him angry. For my sake."

Scioto says, "sounds good and I am not one to get a beast angry usually, had a badger mad at me once but he had thought I was the cause of the trouble at first cause this is a vermin village, yes there are a couple woodlanders here I know but it’s mostly a vermin village""

Christopher chuckles a little bit. "Yeah." he then decides to quickly get away from the subject of his nephew. "I didn't get your name yet...I'm Chris." he offers out a paw.

Scioto shakes the paw , "Scioto, chieftain of Ferravale, good to meet you"

Christopher squeezes the cat's paw firmly before letting go. "Likewise." he nods slowly. "So. I'm a little out of the loop. How long has Ferravale been here?" he asks, glancing around.

Scioto hmms "Well about 4 seasons, since I found it as an abandon place, and got some help to fix it up, come winter will be 5 seasons"

Christopher nods his head. "Well you've done a good job of it." he smiles. "I never knew this place was here. Even when dad bought the tavern on the dirt road where it splits off to get to here.

Scioto nods "I may have seen the tavern before, and the gull but don’t go to either much"

Christopher nods. "The Fang and Claw is...well, not open yet." he laughs. "Dad bought it when it was run down and broken and in dire need of repair. We haven't looked at fixing it yet. He wants to get it up and running really badly but we've never really gotten the chance."

Scioto nods, "Well maybe will one day"

Scioto says, "So if you want a job here and a home, though a home would be set up over a shop if needed, a room..maybe two, then meals could be gotten at the tavern""

Christopher nods his head as well. "Maybe. I hope so. I don't think dad has much time left sadly." he rubs the back of his head. "Being old and all." he thinks for a second and then smiles. "Yeah, that would be nice I think. I like the town." he glances toward the Bakery thoughtfully for a moment. "And I wouldn't mind taking over the Bakery maybe." he nods to himself.

Scioto looks to the bakery and then Christopher, "Then you can, if you’re serious on that....there is a room up above that is the living quarters."

Christopher nods slowly and smiles a little. "Yeah. I think I'd like to." he nods before smiling.

Scioto offers a small smile, "Then welcome as the new baker of Ferravale, I am sure beasts around here will be glad to see it open once more"

Christopher smiles and glances back to the cat. "Thanks." he nods his head. "I'm sure I'll do it justice." he smiles. "Anyway, I have some things I need to do for Will. I'm sure we'll run into each other again." he laughs.

Scioto nods "I am sure as well, if I am not patrolling I am usually in the tavern, least till some more news of when the fight against the fox will happen, then could be elsewhere"

Christopher nods his head. "Right. Well, as I've said. Talk to Thane. I'm sure he'll help. And if you need me...well, I guess you'll know where I'll be." He laughs.

Scioto heads off to patrol elsewhere.

        • Hour later by the bridge****

Scioto is taking a walk and patrolling the nearby road, he keeps an eye on the skies for any signs of trouble, sword at his side and chainmail vest on.

Willow is looking down to the river watching the river pass through, it’s even slightly flooded right now with some of the fall rains that has been happening.

Flameclaw has been following the haremiad since he has seen her, and now takes a chance with her back is turned to sneak up behind her, "Ya know thar be a toll here missy, ya gives me all ya coins and ya live"

Scioto slows when he comes upon this and sighs; he then recognizes the hare from the tavern and walks closer "Ok what is going on?"

Willow gasps as she hears the voice and turns to see Flameclaw, she goes to back up and about goes over the edge, a couple loose bits of bridge does go in the water, "I..I don’t have anything, used ta last bit stay at the inn, wot.." , Her attention on the stoat and not the cat.

Flameclaw smirks "How about ya mind your own business kitty cat, I aint in your village so more along now."

Scioto draws his sword, "You may not be in my village right now, but the hare you have there is under the protection of my village and so it is my business what is happening here, I have had enough problems and don’t want no more."

Willow looks slowly over to Scioto, hoping silently he is on her side after all, she then turns back to the stoat, "Bally well leave."

Flameclaw starts chuckling madly "I aint leaving, trouble...sounds fun, I welcome trouble!!"

It would seem the stoat gets his wish as a group of about five ravens soar out of nowhere, a couple attacking the stoat and the other two each going towards Scioto or Willow as one watches as it lands on a tree.

Scioto slices at the raven as it nears him, he manages to cut its wing badly, he doesn’t give it another change to attack as he quickly kicks it and slices again easily slaying it as it falls over dead.

Willow screams as the raven dives towards her, she sidesteps and the wing slams into her and she falls over the edge of the bridge and into the river.

Flameclaw growls, "Foul birds get away!!" He throws a couple daggers at one and the other bird’s talons cut deep into his shoulder blade and chest, he stabs several times finally killing one of them and rolls to avoid the other one just barely.

Scioto hears the splash and cusses, he slices at the other raven and it pecks at his arm leaving a wound, he jumps back and twirls in a circle and brings down his blade and leaves a fatal wound on the raven, the raven dies shortly after this, he looks over at the stoat and the hare in the river.

Willow has hit the water and surfaces, she coughs and tries to grab ahold of a passing log and fails at her first try, she then finds another and barely holds on to it, she is soaked and shivers, she looks up and manages a "Help!"

Flameclaw is meanwhile still fighting the one raven and seems to be losing badly as the raven gets a talon across the stoat’s chest and one on his throat, this one makes Flameclaw fall and grab his throat as blood leaks to the ground.

Scioto looks at his own wound and, goes to make a slice and kick at the raven attacking the stoat.

Willow coughs and gets pulled further downstream and ends up losing her grip on the log and screams, the scream doesn’t last too long as she goes under and coughs as she resurfaces again.

The raven attacking the stoat is soon slayed, the cat finishes it off as it was already wounded by the stoat.

Flameclaw looks at the cat and tries to speak but only gets out a weak sound, his eyes then close in death, not much a healer could do if even was one nearby.

The only raven left quickly flies off.

Scioto frowns briefly and then looks at the hare, he goes over to the shoreline and sits down his sword, takes off the chainmail and dives into the river after the hare

Willow goes under the water now and sinks.

Scioto takes a deep breath and dives under the water and feels around for the hare, it’s clear he dislikes the river but feels it’s his job to help the hare, he finally feels something and grasps it and goes to resurface and coughs and gags on water as he goes to the shoreline.

Scioto lays the hare on her side and pats her back a couple times, he looks her over and frowns, "Yeah when there is NOT a healer around." He thinks quickly and gently pushes on her middle and chest some, trying to get some sort of response.

Willow lays still, some water does come up but she is still not doing much.

Scioto shakes his head again and stands, he looks down at the hare as if debating on what to do with her, he mutters and bends down again picking the hare up, his chainmail and sword and then heads to the village quickly.

    • infirm in Ferravale***

Scioto brings the hare into the infirm and lays her on the cot, he motions a healer over and sits down, he has a small wound on his lower arm but it doesn’t seem to bother him too much.

Willow is laid down, a couple healers tend to her quickly, luckily she was brought her as quick as she was, the healers manage to get most of the water from the soaked hare's lungs and she coughs weakly and gets up more water, she groans and stays unconscious. One of the healers looks at Scioto, "What happen?"

Scioto answers, "Was on patrol.." , He gets a blanket to wrap around himself, "Seen the hare and stoat on the bridge and advised it stop or go elsewhere, then 4 ravens show up and attack all three of us...the stoat was killed, but so was the raves but one knocked her into the river and so, since she is an abbey beast I jumped in after her and then got her here. There was another raven that just watched and flew off."

The healer nods and tends to the hare best they can, Willow stays unconscious and a warm blanket is placed on her to keep her warm, the healer looks at Scioto, "Were you hurt sir?"

Scioto sighs and shows his lower arm, where one of the ravens managed a peck wound, "Nothing too serious."

Willow seems to be going to be out for a short while as the healer goes to look at the cats wound and starts to tend to it, the healer applies some herbs after washing the wound and then bandages it.

Scioto lets the healer tend to him and then nods his thanks as he glances around the infirm.
