Brainwave

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Brainwave

Back in the 90s there was a public chat channel on the MUCK. Due to our huge player base at the time, the channel became a spam factory, and was eventually disabled. The size of our community is much more manageable today. There also exists a glut of NMC programs, created to give players the autonomy to shape and strengthen their virtual world, which go unused. Among them are +skills groups and the corresponding chat functions.

I have created a new public chat group called Brainwave.

This idea sprung from the frequency of multi-player pages, and the frustration players have voiced when their pages go unanswered. A public chat channel is a great way to see who is available for RP, or to familiarize yourself with names that pop up on the find list but might not otherwise interact with the community at large.

Personally, I find chat channels to be more tidy than pages, which are best suited to private OOC communication.

I have set Brainwave to autojoin yes, so all you need do to participate is +skills apply brainwave. You will be automatically granted membership.

This group is for MUCK-wide OOC communication without a set topic. All are welcome to join! Multiple alt memberships are fine. The only rules are those described in news rules. Use this group to reach out to others for RP opportunities, to meet fellow MUCK denizens, or to just chitchat.

So here's a basic refresher on how to use groups and chats. All of this information can be found in +skills help and - #help on the MUCK.

How to Join

     +skills apply brainwave

Turn Channel On and Off

     - #on brainwave

     - #off brainwave

Say Hello

     - brainwave Hello, world!

Who is Listening?

     - #who brainwave

Helpful Shorthand

To send text to the last channel you used:

     -- Hello, world!

You can create aliases for your channels:

     - #add bw=brainwave

Now try: - bw Hello, world!

Reply here with any questions or ideas. Other than "owning" the group, I don't intend to function as its moderator. This is a public channel. As with all things on the MUCK, be considerate and have fun!
