You know, I've been wondering about this for a while, but I've never been able to really come up with a good answer, or really come to a conclusion just by going off the books. As we know, with things like size and structure as far as animals go, Redwall has a tendency to be just... all over the place. At one point cats are ridiculously enormous, and at another point they're just bigger than mice. That's all fine and dealt with on the MUCK by the size comparison charts and such, but something that I've had to wonder is whether or not anyone's ever managed to figure out exactly how birds are shaped.

We can assume that other species, regardless of how anthropomorphic they may be, at least stand on two legs and have the ability to hold things, so they must have hands and must have human-like legs so they don't fall over everywhere. However, there's very little on the site as to how the birds should be considered. To me, they've always seemed as though they were just bigger than normal in the books, but in that they kind of don't fit with the rest of the animals who seem to have ditched their paws for hands and fingers. And on the MUCK, I've also seen birds carrying swords, despite the fact that there wouldn't be much of a way for them to use them, unless they were to wield their swords with their feet, which seems strange and difficult.

As far as the MUCK goes, are birds just the enlarged beasts from the books, or are they more... restructured things? Like, would they, instead of just being large birds, actually be more human-shaped with wings fixed to their backs a la angels, or would their wings be built into their arms with hands on the end or what? It would certainly make life easier for them if they didn't have to manipulate everything with their mouths. If anyone has an idea, please weigh in. I'm interested to see what others think.
