Bandits, Healers, and Inn Keepers

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Just what have these these three been up too? Leon and Dylan check into the Ferreval Inn.

It is afternoon by the time the lizard enters the Ferreval Inn. It's hard to tell exactly which species the lizard belongs to. He looks like a miniature red scaled velociraptor really. His clothes are made of animal leather from his vest to his pants, both of which do little to hide his pudgy middle. Although in comparison with the inn keeper behind the front desk, Dylan might as well be skinny.

Liam Grey resembles something of a sphere or ball while sitting down in the chair behind the desk. The fattened brown furred pine marten looks up at the arrival and smiles broadly. "Welcome! Welcome to the inn!" He shouts. The lobby is decidedly barren of guests at the moment and is starting to collect dust upon the usually pristine and well kept furniture.

Leon sighs as he walks into the Inn, he can't stay in the infirm the whole time he is here and he needs sleep, in a room even if its just one night and he let someone know where to find him if its life threateningly important.

The Pine marten leans his bulky body over the desk to talk around the vermin lizard, "One second! I'll be right with you!" he says to the woodlander. With a bright smile and a glint in his eye the marten begins to wag his tail. "Enjoying your stay in the city good sir?"

"Don't sir me Liam. You know who I am. I've stayed here before. Just get me my usual room and save the cheerful merchant act, ok?" The lizard says as he leans against the front desk, tossing a few coins the martens way.

"Oh, but I do remember you just fine, 'sir.' I also remember that you left here with out paying last time. So, if you don't mind paying your 'tab' first, then I can get you the room you want."

Leon sits down on a bench in the room, he is tried and it shows as every hour he would get woke up or something else would wake him or just concern maybe, he is not sure and he can't do well with his job if he is too tried.

The lizard becomes incensed at such foul treatment. "Listen Liam. We are both reasonable people here, right? Right. Surely we can come to some sort of arrangement here, right?"

"Yes. You can pay me the money you owe me or you can stay out in the cold. I hear lizards are very fond of the cold, yes?" The marten manages to keep his grin during the entire conversation. Dylan can't say he is too pleased with that.

"You know what I do for a living, right Liam? Perhaps that could at a bit of weight to the argument?" The lizard says with a hint of danger in his tone. THe marten leans backward, scratching at his many chins as he considers this, "That does add a bit of weight to your argument. Ok, tell you what. If you pay me half on what you owe me I can see if I can find you a room."

"That's better." The lizard says as he slides the coins forward.

"Good good. Thank you so much Mr. Locke." the marten says as he quickly makes the coins dissapear into his pocket. "I'm also afraid I have to inform you that we are currently full. I'm afraid you will have to stay in the hayloft out back."

The lizard gasps. His eye twitches as he struggles to form cohesive words while the marten gestures to Leon. "Sorry about the wait, how can I help you sir?"

Leon looks up "I need a room, just for one night as can't sleep in the infirm and if an old badger comes, it best be cause someone got worse otherwise don't want disturbed"

"Wait...did you say infirm?" The pine marten pulls out a large wood bound log book and flips through its many pages. "Oh yes! The healer from Redwall. Someone in the infirm already reserved a room for you tonight. I have a room with 2 beds left. Would that be ok?" The lizard to the mouses right twitches an eye. "But, but, but..." He stammers.

Leon blinks "And who reserved a room? Not many know I am here, I mean I would stay in another room but..lets just say it needs seriously cleaned and double checked to make sure its ok." He sighs as he looks around " Sort of low on coins as never really carry much."

Liam peers through the log book closely. "Who ever took the reservation didn't leave their name." The marten shrugs. "Either way, they paid for half of your room so, if you can come up with 8 ferrin your good. If not, well, there is always the hay loft outside." The marten says with a wide toothed smiled. His tail was wagging behind him again.

"That's half? YOu charged me 20 ferrin last time!" Dylan's complaints went ignorred however.

Leon frowns and looks at the Lizard, he then sighs"Maybe the lizard could use the room instead, he did pay you something already and he probally needs the room more than me, maybe Ican sleep at Zee's hime, if he lets me as he will want to beatthe infirm more, least till his niece wakes up but not sure when that will be she was poisoned, as was Scioto and Marek, but Zinnia got more of it somehow."

Leon room-pages, "well if he didnt know marek was around he does now...".

The two vermin stare blankly at the mouse for a long moment. "Wait...what?" The marten says flatly. He didn't catch all of what the mouse said, only that some poor beast was poisoned and the word Marek. "Run that by me a-"

"Woo! I do get a room after all!" The lizard throws his claws up in the air with joy.

"The last time you stayed here you left the biggest mess I ever saw! You get to stay in the hay loft! Now quiet you! I'm trying to listen!" THe marten hisses at Dylan before turning to the mouse, "Who was poisoned?"

Leon sighs, he is tried and this makes him moody, "Someone tried to kill Scioto and Marek, and Zinnia, the abbey recorder was there as well and she got poisoned. Something in tea or something but an anidote was given and Scioto and Marek woke up, Zinnia has yet to." He then frowns "Yeah Marek is back, but he isnt looking to take over any where it would seem and I am in town to make sure Zinnia and yeah Marek and Scioto as well, are ok and recover"

The marten continues to stare at the mouse to see if there was a punch line to this horrible joke in here somewhere. Finely he turns to the wall behind him and grabs a key from the wall. He tosses it onto the desk. "Here is the key to your room. Up the stairs, first door on your right. Stay as long as you need. If you have any problems just let me know."

The lizard now has his chin resting on the counter, giving the best puppy dog eyes his species can manage. "Oh come on Liam. Can't you do something with me too? Please? I have had a royally bad week as well. All the members of my gang-er, fellow swords for hire, were eaten by an eagle! An eagle! Can you imagine?

Leon gets the keys, well least a room can be locked and will be quiet, he tenses up at the word eagle as he is not a fan of birds too much, he mutters a "Thanks " And quickly goes up to his room before anything else is said.

"No! Wait! Let's make a deal! Your room has two beds!" The lizard cries as he stretches out a paw towards the dissapearing mouse.

Giving a hearty laugh the marten pats the lizard on the back, "Don't worry. There is fresh hay in the loft tonight." And with that the marten dissapeared behind his office door to avoid any more pleading from the bandit.

The lizard let's out a soft wail. "Awwwwwww maaaaaaaan..."
