The Pigeons' Roost Tavern

The Pigeons' Roost Tavern: Common Room --------------------

The Common Room of the Pigeons' Roost Tavern is clearly the largest. While not the brightest of rooms, there's sufficient light, mostly from candles rather then from the windows-- of which there are only three, all small, and half obscured by blue curtains. A few torches, two on either side of each doorway, are lit, and candles rest on every table. More light comes from the entrance, over the swinging doorway.
At the far side of the room, there is a raised platform; while usually empty, this is where the rooms entertainment, when there is any, performs. The other half of the room is filled by five or six round wooden tables, each surrounded by more wooden chairs. While all are plain wood, they are in good condition. The last open space, taking up an entire wall, consists of the bar. The bar is lined with stools-- four legged contraptions with a blue clothed place to sit on. Behind the bar, rows and rows of glasses and bottles of all sorts of drinks, as well as many other snacks rests, ready for the barbeasts to pick them up. On the bar, too, sits a small jar for payments.
The entire room, while not made of rich nor fancy materials, is clean, and pleasant looking in appearance. A few round rugs, with ringed patterns, lie in strategic places along the floor; one more noticeable one, a better make with a prettier pattern, sits by the entrance. A few other doors lead off the common room aside from the swinging double ones in the entrance. One doorway, in the corner of the room that's shared with the bar, angles downward to the cellar.

Characters Involved: Aden, Magramba

By some strange turn of events, Aden is not curled up /beneath/ any table, but is sat civilly /at/ one, not yet drunk, not yet hungover. Though, it seems she is fast approaching one of the two as a half empty pint is clutched in one paw.

Magramba is seated passively in the seat next to Aden, a mug of tea before him, gazing at the wall.

Aden turns and looks at Magramba and opens her mouth to say something, then falls silent again and turns away, her own gaze going to the wall. Then she does it again, this time forcing herself to say "So... nice night..."

Magramba nods slightly, eyes still staring pretty much into space. "Yep, nice night."

To muffle the awkwardness, Aden takes a long pull on her drink, though not quite finishing it off. "Very...starry..." Pause. "So... you feeling better? You know...after the swan, thing."

"Yeah." Magramba reaches down to scratch at his injured leg. "I think I'm taking this splint off tonight. It's not doing anything but getting in the way."

Aden erms. "And, you know, helping it heal." she adds, a thin note of sterness detectable in her tone. Thats what splints are used for, afterall.

"It's... a stick. On the outside." Magramba looks at the younger squirrel. "The bone is on the /inside./ And I've worn it long enough anyway."

"A stick that forces the bone to stay in place." She grumbles darkly, taking another sip. "But if you've worn it long enough..." shrug.

"Oh, it'll be fine." Magramba pushes his chair out from the table to lean over and untie the strips of cloth holding the splint on. "Feels much better already."

Aden nods, though still uncertain. "Whatever you say." The gray squirrel sighs and peers down at his leg.

"Well, I say it comes off." Magramba straightens up, depositing the splint on the table, and picks up his mug again. Tea! "Anyway, that's that."

Aden raises an eyebrow. "But, the important question is - " she finished off her drink "Hows it feel to walk on?"

"We'll find that out when I get up." Magramba chuckles, taking a sip of his tea. "Where'd you come from, Aden? All I remember was waking up after they'd dragged me out of the river and there you were."

Aden gives a soft laugh herself. "Can't wait for that." then to his question: "Erm...well, the circus, so nowhere in particular. I met Castus a day before I met you lot again - you were unconcious both times, and Cas was looking for herbs the first time I met him. You could say I, ah, dropped in on him."

"The circus, eh." Magramba takes another sip of tea. "Fell out of a tree, did you?"

"Yep aaaaaand yep. Though, in my defence, I was asleep and he startled me." Her arms cross stubbornly. She /was/ asleep, afterall.

That comment elicits another chuckle from Magramba. "What, you fall out while you're sleepin'?"

"Well, I was sleeping and then he sort of...made noise, and I woke up an sort of twitched..." She scratches behind her neck in an embarressed sort of way. "I have excellent balance, mind you."

Magramba snorts, taking another sip of tea "Sure."

Aden frowns. "Uh, honest." She searches for a high ground in the conversation "So, about that swan, how'd you get squished?"

Magramba's expression hardens somewhat as he thinks about that swan again. "The swan was going after Claviger, one of the females who's travelling with us. So I ran out in the river and got its attention." He snorts lightly. "That was when it stepped on me."

Aden nods slowly, she still hadn't met this mysterious Claviger... "That was noble." She offers politely. Soft sigh. "Anyways, I should probably be off to bed for the night, before I have another..." She pushes off from the table, offers a mock Chinese bow to Mag and then is off to bed.
