RW Abbey: Bookshelf of Woodland Lore

The books contained here consist of everything from woodland legend and myths

to herbal lore and the invaluable knowledge of healing arts that has made

Redwall renowned. There are many, many books and scrolls present. There is an

area where some papers are stacked on one side of the shelf, but these are in

a clear ABC order still.

Boaz is checking the shelves, making sure books are in the right places and scrolls are neatly placed, he only has a couple books and smiles as they are placed where they should be, he steps back and folds his paws over his chest “Well, that’s done...now what"

Around the corner comes Quillwort, juggling an armful of scrolls! He stops and frowns, seeing Boaz. "Ah, Brother. I've a few more."

And following Quillwort at an unhurried pace is Ellery. She leans heavily on her stick and there's an audible pop or two as she comes to a stop. "Ah, young Quillwort. I wanted to thank you for suggesting that book!" The old squirrel looks from Quillwort to Boaz. "Oh ho! Putting the library back in order, my dear?"
Boaz smiles "Placing some things back on the shelves that was taken off, I did promise Sister Zinnia I take care of the library while she was away, oh dear I should say my name..Brother Boaz, temporary Recorder till spring."
Quillwort turns toward Ellery as she approaches, and nods. "Ah. You're quite welcome, mother. My pleasure, bringing some summer out of season." He nods too to Boaz, shifting the scrolls in his arms. "Novice Quillwort. What's happened to Sister Zinnia? Sick?"

Boaz answers "Went on an Ambassador trip with a couple others and that’s when she is due back. In fact they should be getting there in a few days."

"It is a most enjoyable read before my naps, my dear, thank you." Ellery nods and shuffles into a more comfortable standing position, both paws clasped over the handle of her stick. "A pleasure, Brother Boaz. I am Ellery."
Quillwort asks, "Oh? Well, good." He crinkles his brow, doing some mental math, then tossing it out. "Next spring? Spreading the Abbey word far or long, then. Or both. Here, I'll pass these off to you." The hog juggles a scroll into his paw and holds it out to Boaz, while answering Ellery. "I might, ah, look in on it from time to time. For reference."
Boaz takes the scrolls and nods "Well the next time Spring comes yes...first there will of course be this fall and winter, and then spring and that’s when they return so a couple seasons they will be away." He places a scroll onto the shelf as he speaks "I do hope a trip helps Sister Zinnia as she has been depressed since her father died a few weeks ago."

"Oh, please do dear! In fact, if it would not be too much trouble, perhaps you might read the passages you seek out to me?" Ellery's ears twitch. "Oh dear, poor lass. Losing a loved one is never an easy thing."

"Absolutely, mother." Under the gruffness, Quill sounds pleased. "Ah. It would be a boon to my studies." Another scroll is waiting when Boaz turns back to the novice. All he has to say to Zinnia's father's passing is, "Hm. That's difficult. Something else to focus on can help sometimes."
Boaz nods as he places the scrolls on the shelfs and frowns, he finds one out of place and fixes it and then reaches for another, "Sometimes it can help, sometimes it can't. I am hoping she sends a letter back, least to let it be known she got there ok if anything else"
"I am sure she will, my dear. And if she does not, it is not something one can worry over while she has gone, it seems, so far away." Ellery smiles gently but there's delight for Quillwort. "And, thank you young Quillwort, that will be very pleasant indeed. It will be nice to have company reading to me down here. I shall try not to keep you late when you do, I promise. One finds oneself napping very easily these days..."

"Might get the Sister back before the letter," Quillwort observes skeptically with a raise of his brow, holding another scroll out to Boaz. For Ellery, though, his tone eases. "No trouble, mother. I've ah, a project just now from Brother Braithwaite, diseases of the liver and such, so I come here after lunch most days any case. Could bring some tea, or water," He suggests, side-eying Brother Boaz for an objection to tannin-containing drinks.

Boaz hmmms, "I guess someone who is curious, well all the books and scrolls are in an ABC order after all, should be easy to find"

Oz hears voices as he is in the main room of the library and just finished a story time with the dibbuns, he stays by the shelf before he speaks "Seems we have a new guest to the order, least a voice I don't recognize yet anyways."

Quillwort blinks at Boaz. "Pardon, Brother?" he asks, brow wrinkling. "Not sure of your meaning."

"Ah yes. The alphabetical order. It is usually a good system for common tongue literature." Ellery agrees with Boaz as he suddenly comments on how the library is arranged. "Oh, my dear, tea would be most welcome! The abbey teas do so seem to soothe my aches and warm me to my tail. I can think of nothing more pleasant than time with tea, company, and reading." Her joints pop and creak a little as she turns to see the new voice, smiling. "Why, hello there dear. My, the library is attracting a crowd today isn't it?"

Boaz answers "Just a curious bit of info to look up is all." He then greets Oz with a "Hello"

Oz chuckles, "Sorry, I usually try to learn of new guests as they come to the abbey. Winter usually has some guests come for a little while, I should be able to know whom you are in a couple days most likely, maybe three days depending."

Oz says, "Well I am Oz, dibbun caretaker here. The dibbuns call me Papa Oz"

Boaz goes to head off "I must check on the book binding room, going to make it a temporary office as I don’t need much room really and it already has a desk and chair after all so hope all have a good day." He then walks off.
