Modest May is here, and things are buzzing about Southsward, both
literally and figuratively. A wedding at the castle and trading fairs from
afar, a contest to find swarms of bees for hiving, and other affairs of mice
and bees (and squirrels, and bats, and just about everyone else).
Excavations in the woods near the priory are not, contrary to dibbun
rumor, a new platinum mine or lost treasure, but the rather more prosaic
construction of a new mole-tunnel. Trespassers will be served raspberry
tea and rustic accents.
There is naturally some excitement about the royal wedding! Prince who?
No, no, the wedding of Laura (Taylor) to Koren at the royal castle of
Southsward. The grand event is scheduled for the eleventh of May, and
is expected to be an occasion to remember.
The sounds of harness bells have been reported along lonely
cart-trails, distant violin music heard in the silver moonlight, and
the fading embers of campfires found abandoned in the woods at
sunrise. While this is all /very/ atmospheric and steeped in mystery,
we'd appreciate it if fewer garden vegetables and pies on window sills
were vanishing along the way?
Notices of the annual /Mayfaire/ have gone up throughout Southsward
Village, and craftbeasts are trickling in from distant ports of call
to buy and sell their goods-- silk, spices, and rare crafts for the
bidding, starting in just another week or so. Lodgings in town are
starting to become scarce, and anyone with property in the village may
be able to earn an extra coin or two offering a room for rent.
