Aclidia Blues Part 2

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

A dark plot is set in motion against one of the thieves guild members. Players are Albus and my two npcs the stoat and ferret.

With the sun yet to rise this morning find the Aclidian Harbors cold, chilly. The air is filled with invigorating smell of salt water. There are very few beasts out and about this morning, a few early dock workers and perhaps one or two beasts who came for a stroll through the beach side. A little ways from the harbor the streets are lit by the torches of street lamps.

Among the few beasts present at the harbors is an arctic fox who is seemingly wandering along the beach, watching the water of the sea crash against the sand. The fox always found the sound of the sea to be a calming one, and so he came here frequently, though that was not the reason he was here this time around. He had business to take care of, but it wasn't as though he wasn't experienced at it.

The cobblestone street seems to weave on and around the city, the shore line to the fox's right after a steep drop off from the street the sandy beach. To his left a steep wall to block off the hill. The back of houses can be seen on top of the wall. Up ahead at the next lamp post there are two beasts. One is a scrawny brown furred stoat dressed in a red long sleeved coat and tan trousers. The other, a tall ferret leans his back against the post with his arms crossed. His fur is pure grey with a white patch of fur running down his tummy. He wears a short sleeved jacket he leaves open to expose the beginnings of a pot belly. He also wears a wide brimmed hat a bandoleer across his chest with a short sword attached to the bottom. He gives the fox a smirk as he draws closer.

The fox, who had lived his life having to observe his surroundings along with other beasts, had most certainly caught sight of the beasts by now, though he gives no sign. His soft white fur rustles in the wind coming off the ocean, and he simply draws closer and closer to the two beasts, figuring they would be his contacts, especially from the look of the smirk that ferret had given him.

The stoat looks upon the fox nervously. He is rubbing his paws together as he asks, "You know there is no going back if we do this..." The ferret waves off his companions concerns witha wave of a paw. "Top of the morning mate. I take it your the fox named Albus?"

The fox, who indeed was 'the fox named Albus', gives a small silent nod, finally directing his attention to the two beasts with his piercing stare. "Aye, my name is indeed Albus. I would assume you are the two that were looking for me."

The ferret pushes himself away from the post. His black 'mask' highlights his green eyes. "I'm Korudon Miron, this is Galyn Nino." The stoat looks horrified that the ferret would give him their real names, "K-kor! Why..." The ferret hisses at the stoat before he can finish. Turning once more to the fox he smirks yet again, "So glad you could get the message. My employers have a job for you..."

Albus raises an eyebrow, folding his arms and watching the two carefully. It seems that the fox is going to have fun intimidating the stoat at least. "I had that figured out. What do you need me to do?" His tone is quiet and collected, but not a whisper.

The ferrets smirk turns into a full fledged grin. His tiny white teeth sparkle in the darkness and his facial features are only partially highlighted as they contort into something...vile. "That lizard gall that brought you the message, her name is Sibyl....I want you to kill her."

Albus is inwardly stunned. This is usually why he didn't like to make friends, because with his luck, he always ended up killing them as a job. "Right, and what price do you plan to start at for this target then?"

The ferret snaps his claws. The stoat pulls a small leather bag from his belt. Taking a cautious step forward the beast offers the bag to the fox. His paws shake as he does. "This is only half of what my employer wants to give you. Half now, the rest after the little snake is delt with." Korudon looks positively giddy at the thought of the lizard meeting her end.

Albus decides that, just for fun, he would snatch the bag from the stoat's paw, shooting a glare as he does. Returning his attention to the ferret, he nods, but just out of curiosity... "May I ask what exactly you need her dead for?"

"I'm paying you to violently murder beasts, not ask questions," The ferret cross his arms as the stoat makes a terrified yelp at having the bag snatched from is paws. Kor only shakes his head and sighs, "But if you must know the leader of our guild, Maffeo, has deemed her a liability and wants her terminated." The ferret rubs at his chin, "Be sure to tell her that before Sibyl meets her end."

Albus nods in understanding, his eyes cold. "I'll make sure I do so. Is there anything else you need me for?" He really didn't want to kill the lizard since she had shown him..some sort of kindness, but a job is a job he supposed.

The stoat gulps, "I-I think we are pretty much done here..." Kor chuckles to himself, "I'll meet you here at the same time when you complete the job. Bring me something to prove that she is dead. Her tail, a claw maybe, her hide if you can manage it." The stoat looks absolutely horrified, "I...I think the Guild ring will suffice Kor..." The ferret silences his companion with a cold, dangerous glare. He sighs after a moment though, turning back to the fox and gives him a shrug, "I suppose that will work too. She never parts with the thing. Bring that and I will know that she is dead..." He leans forward and whispers, "The other stuff works just as well though..." then leans back and smiles. "Need anything else from us or are you good?"

Albus shakes his head, offering a sinister smile to the pair. "No, I believe I will be fine with the information I already have." With that, he turns and walks off back along the beach.

The stoat watches the fox depart from them like wraith in the night. "Kor...a-are you sure this was a good idea? I mean what will happen if..." The ferret interupts him with a laugh. "It won't come to that, and even if it does I have a plan to deal with that situation as it comes up." With a twisted smile the grey furred weasel sticks his hands into his vest and begins walking away, humming a merry tune. "Come along Galyn, we some celebrating to do." The ferret can just imagine the look on Sibyl's face when she learns her precious Maffeo ordered a hit on her. Heh, he only wishes he could be there to see it...

Albus walks off a ways down the beach until he finally looks back to see the two vermin gone. He wanders over to lean against the wall, slowly sliding down the wall until he is sitting on the sand, silently staring at the sand. Oh what was he going to do about this...
