Moledeep: Foremole's Study

Garnet comes into the study, books in tow. Just going to put them away after they have scattered across the entirety of the tunnel. Messy beasts... She seems like her cheerful bouncy self. Just like any other day. She enters and closes the door behind her, and her ears are assaulted with lyrics and music. Without even looking over she says, "Hello Amy! How are you today?" going over to one of the shelves.

Amethyst wasn't being /that/ loud, well not loud enough to be heard from the hall at least. She frowns at her lute and stops playing when Garnet comes in and would have started up again upon hearing the door close til the stoatwife started talking. Amy turns to face toward the cook, "Hello. I'm fine. Having a little trouble with these lyrics ... may need to try a different tune or alter the theme a bit. How are you and your boys doing?"

Garnet flicks a piece of dirt off one of the books, before shelving it. Then moving on to the next one, "That's good to hear. I'm doing well. Just doing a little cleaning with Fira before I start on dinner... And they're being stoats, as ever as they will be." she chuckles and shakes her head, "Writing a song?" she asks not being deterred from her work.

Amethyst sighs, "Trying to write a song. But I'm not much of a song writer as I've been told more than once lately."

Garnet actually glances over at her, "Oh come on. I don't want to hear that. You have a marvelous singing voice and you're a very talented lute player... The words are sure to come to you!" she says bouncily going back to her work, "Whoever told you that you aren't is silly and doesn't know what they are talking about!" she chuckles, "Well, I'm sort of a duffer at song making... but maybe i can help you... All the same. Music while someone works is also just as good!"

Amethyst nods, "Yes very silly" She shrugs a bit at the request, ". ... I don't have too much down yet I got stuck partway though and while the words aren't the worst i don't think they quite fit what I'm trying to do. I'll play it if you want though."

Garnet continues to find places for books. Almost done though, "Yes. Go right ahead. I love to hear it all the same. Even if it isn't quite done yet..." she hrms, "What are you trying to do... exactly..." thought she was just writing a song.

Amethyst ignores the question and starts up what of the song she has so far instead,

"The moon hung in a thick crescent like a cast off crust of bread.

Under its waxing light I sat while looming figures drifted in and out around me.

When I first heard you approach I though more had come to gawk yet I raised my head.

I reached out to test if what I imagined were real instead I saw you.

I did not believe your words when you spoke to me. What worth are words said in the heat of a moment? How could I know they were true?

Under a willow tree we became friends and as the night faded away we slept.

I would not stay where I was nor would you allow me to return to what I was so down under the earth we crept."

The song ends and Amy waits for Garnet's response.

Garnet stops working to listen to the song. She remains silent and quiet until the song ends, and she goes back to shelving, "Very nice. Weird. But really quite good." She chuckles lightly and tries to cover it up with a cough, "Excuse me... dusty..." she clears her throat, "Very good. I'm sure he will love it..." Was very obvious, "...But... What part are you stuck then?" sounded good enough to her

Amethyst says, "It seems it should continue on longer but I'm not sure what to add to it. I didn't want it to be long and even if it does make a nice song it doesn't fit properly as it is for a wedding vow. He can write and read over whatever he wants to say but I don't have that luxury."

Garnet sighs putting the last book in its proper place, "Well... What do YOU think. Do you think it should be longer? It is your vow to him. And you sing it if you want too. It is your wedding. Whatever you and your heart tells you to do..." she nods a few times, "And what do you mean? Don't have the luxury?" odd.

Amethyst rolls her eyes, "The blind do not read nor do they write. And having a beast write what I say and read it to me can have its problems. I want to do this myself."

Garnet nods, "Yah i know. But i still don't see it. I think out of all of us, Aik was the only one who actually wrote their vows on something. And that's because he is a little... well... you know... slow..." she chuckles nervously, "We all wrote ours in our head. And then said it on our wedding day. Even Aik had his memorized. So i don't see where your having a problem unless you cant remember very well..." Then that can be understandable.

"I can remember just fine!" Amy growls, "I'm just having a little trouble with how to word it."

Garnet holds up her paws, "Okay Okay. Sorry. I just wasn't understanding correctly of some things... no need to get all uppity..." this seem to lose her bouncy mood. Which she loves to have. She hrms loudly and leans against the shelves, crossing her arms, "Do you really want some help. Or should i just leave now and let you steep in your problems" Garnet is in no mood to be growled, or yelled at for that matter. She has other more important things to do.

Amethyst sighs, "I guess I could use a little help." Best not to upset the beast that makes the food.

Garnet nods firmly, "Good... now... Onto vow making... things..." she chuckles finding a chair to plop down in, "Alright... Now. I don't think its the wording. Though it was kinda... well... odd. Did you feel it?" Like it was obvious.

Amethyst leans her head back in her chair and says, "Somewhat. I was trying to think of what to say and got to thinking on how we met and while that may make a nice song it has very little to do with our wedding. Unless you caught something in it I didn't."

Garnet rests her elbows on her knees. This is serious business, right here, "Well... If that how you feel. And WANT to say on your wedding day. I don't think there is any problem with that. Be quite nice actually. As long as you feel that its right..." she nods a few times. She knows she is not explaining it right. But its hard too.

Amthyst says, "It still seems like it should be longer. .... the only thing coming to mind would be something along the lines of 'your father tried to kill me' and that would not go over well."

Garnet scratches her cheek, "Okay... No. That would not go over well... Lets go a different way. Lets go with something about Will. Instead of telling on how you met and such. Why don't you say on how he makes you feel. And how you will do to serve him... for the rest of your life..." she nods a few times. That's what she and Fira did. So... It ought to go over pretty well.

Amethyst says, "I tried to go with feelings and all I ended up with was a jumble of words that don't make much sense when said out loud.

Garnet shrugs, "Well, all you got is the jumble of words. I think that's all you need. May need to word it... Id say go with the jumble of words. Cause that's what vows are supposed to mean anyway. Telling the world about how you feel and what you will do about him. And if it is all jumbled... Then the world will understand..." she chuckles, "And if they don't... well plogh on then..." she laughs.

Amethyst nods a little, "Yes I will need to word it better don't want them to think I'm drunk or something."

Garnet smiles, "That's the ticket! And once you get it all... worded all right and stuff. Just added to what you already got. And there yah, that solves all your problems." but then she points out, "But just make sure its what your heart wants to say. That's all you have to go by. When it says its how it should be... then there yah go!" she grins, "Anything else? Or should i leave you be to work?" she can stay a little bit longer to help, if need be.

Amethyst says, "You can go if you want. .... Maybe you could send some tea this way if you happen to pass the kitchen?"

Garnet gets up and dusts the imaginary dust off her paws, "I need to get started on dinner anyway. I think Fira wanted to try something or other... i don't know..." she snorts, "But yep to tea... Just the normal earl? Or should i make something special?" she asks on her way out the door.

Amethyst smiles, "Mint tea, please. With luck I may get this sorted out by dinner."

Garnet nods once more, "Righto! Mint tea it is!... Have to make a fresh pot!" she chuckles, "Then we will see you by dinner then... Ill send Fira and the twins, with the kettle once its all percolated and hot! See yah Amy! Good luck and such!" she grins a pops out the door, heading for the kitchen.

Amethyst waves frowning a little. Of course she knows the little otters couldn't bring the tea themselves, but there is another otter that could accompany them.
