"My Dibbuns are your grandchildren."

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Allot of this first part happened before I came in, but I hate starting logs from just when I came in, so I got it all from the rwradio. So sue me. Friends: Taran, who is a mouse. Lee 'the otter'. DoraRose, who is a mouse. Nightbreath, who just happens to be an ermine. Cheshire, who's a kitty....I mean, a cat.

RW Abbey: Infirmary Recovery

This comfortable but spartan room has several small alcoves lining the wall. Infirmary bunks with resting and recovering patients lie in these alcoves, each cordoned off with a gossamer drapery of linen for privacy. The room is lit with oil lamps and the pleasing warmth of a small hearth fire. This room is kept quiet, except for the occasional snore, hacking cough or sniffle of its sleeping infirmary occupants.

Exits: [Back] to the Main Infirmary

Taran is laying in the cot still, he slowly gets better but still needs to remain in the infirm

The otter enters the Recovery room to check up on Taran. He is *particularly* cheery today, with a spring in his step, whistling a happy little tune. "G'mornin Taran!"

Taran nods a small hello" Hey, you seem happy at least today"

Lee smiles widely. "Oh Taran, I am! I met a lovely otter lass the other night...She 'as the prettiest eyes..." he sighs dreamily. "Her name is Stream'eart, an' I invited 'er ta the Fall Feast, an' guess wot!! She accepted!!"

Taran manages a small smile "Well, thats nice lad, depending on when this feast is I may or may not be going myself"

Lee nods and sits beside Taran's cot. "I unnerstand. I 'ope ye can. I want ye ta know I enjoy talkin' to ye. I enjoy yer company greatly."

Taran is slient then, "I am surprised at that, last time I was around a group they didnt want my company,"

Lee smiles warmly. "Ye've been lonely before, 'ave ye not? Let's just, while I may not be able ta unnerstand yer full circumstances, I do unnerstand loneliness. I sense in ye a kindred spirit o' sorts."

Taran says, "I don't know anymore, I just want to...to be able to talk to my son, but he avoids me it seems"

Lee says, "Taran, he does want ta talk ta ye, 'e just doesn't know 'ow. Do ye wanna know me advice?"

Taran looks at him "Not unless it be better than that fox"

Lee smiles softly. "I promise ye, it is. Me advice is this...tell Leon ye love 'im, an' that yer sorry about wot 'appened. Don't wait for 'im ta start the conversation, when ye next see 'im, just tell 'im, whether it be in private or not. The worse that can 'appen is 'e doesn't lissen, at least ye will 'ave tried."

Taran nods and smiles "Yeah it is better..the fox seems ta think I want to just lay here,...I wasnt myself yesterday, headache and sore throat"

Lee says, "Ye look a little better, actually. Ye'll be right as rain in no time."

Taran chuckles, "Rain not de best thing to be in really"

Lee laughs softly. "Aye, it ain't. Ye be careful in storm next time, promise me."

Taran says, "I was just out on the pond to avoid beasts mainly, it was cloudy but then storm came pretty fast"

Lee nods. "I wouldn't mind fishing with ye sometime."

Taran says, "not sure if will now, till after winter"

Lee says, "Aye, the pond will freeze soon."

Taran says, "probally not too soon, still fall yet"

Lee nods. "Aye, I look forward to seein' the fall leaves. I 'eard it be lovely."

Taran smiles "I have seen some already in the woods, fall is a colorfull time of year..reds,oranges,yellows in the leaves"

Lee says, "I never seen it before, fall ain't that pretty in the South. Too 'ot, really."

Taran says, "Yeah, is hotter in the south"

Lee says, "That's why I came North. I grew tired of the heat..."

Taran shrugs, "Its..well was my home, guess could say I am an unwilling wanderer now"

Lee nods. "I unnerstand. I 'ate ta wander meself."

Taran asks, "Thought you lived here now lad?"

Lee nods. "Oh, I do! This be me 'ome now, I don't plan ta wander again if possible."

Taran says, "I will most likely, wander that is and head elsewhere, didnt plan on staying this long, but didnt plan on falling into de pond either"

A female brown-furred mouse with blue eyes sticks her head in through the door. It's DoraRose, and she is without her babies right now. They must be being baby-sat by some Novices. She slips in and quietly makes her way over to Taran's bed, smiling. "Good day. I heard you fell into the pond. Are you alright?"

Lee stands and smiles. "Good day, Miss."

Taran looks up "Yeah, I did and..I be ok now lass, recovering slowly"

DoraRose smiles a little more and sits down by the cot. "Good, I'm glad. Say, Leon tells me that you're his father." She hopes this isn't rude, but she can't figure out any other way to say it.

The otter remains quiet, wondering how Taran will respond.

Taran frowns, "Yes, that be true lass, I am...what of?" He sighs, "Not been a very good one lately, or least last we saw one another, he wasnt even at a good age ta leave home when he did, what am I saying" He frowns "I made him leave, at the time I didnt care..I blamed him for what happen, didnt give him time to morn a lost, no time to pack his things, just to leave now and it was the last time I saw him till I was here."

DoraRose nods, giving the older mouse a compassionate look. "I know. He told me. And it matters because he's my husband. My Dibbuns are your grandchildren." she gentle goes to lay a paw on his. "I at least have no hard feelings for you, and I think with time, Leon won't, either."

Taran sighs, "He doesn't want to talk, surprised he even saved my life, he could of easily keep walking to go inside..not jumped in after me"

Lee listens to the others. He doesn't know anything he can contribute for the time being.

DoraRose tilts her head to one side slightly, smiling in an almost mysterious way. "His heart is softening. He has told me himself that he has changed since he has...ah, since he's come here, actually." she blushes slightly for some reason. "I think he will come to talk to you soon. Just give him some time. Don't worry."

Lee speaks up suddenly. "Aye, I 'ave spoke to 'im, too, he wants ta talk to ye."

Taran stays silent but nods slowly, he coughs a little but least his fever is gone, "I have...missed him, guessing he is avoiding me right now..then guess he cant totally isnt he a healer here?"

DoraRose chuckles slightly. "He's the Master Healer here. So, no, he can't very well."

Taran blinks, "He is?" He had not known this, he smiles at this bit of news, "He's done well then, I'm surprised I didnt discourage him, but guess I didnt"

Lee nods. "Aye, I knew that."

DoraRose nods and glances at the otter. "He's very talented." she thinks for a moment, then turns to him. "I'm sorry. I'm really tired, I'm not meaning to be rude. How are you?"

Lee smiles. "I'm happy. I met a pretty otter maiden."

Taran nods, "I still need to decide if staying here or not, meaning the abbey, been told stay least til winter is over"

Lee smiles. "I'm one who's asked ye ta stay."

DoraRose smiles. "I hope you do stay, Taran. And who was the maiden, Lee? I might know her." She pats the other mouses' paw and turns to the otter.

Lee smiles dreamily. "Her name is Stream'eart...She was only goin' ta stay at the Abbey a few days, but I invited 'er to the Fall Feast...an' she accepted. She 'as the prettiest eyes ye ever did see."

Taran responds "I am unsure, it depends on if I am able to talk to my son or not before I get out of here"

Nightbreath wakes up groaning from another sleep of agony as he recovers from his grievous wounds. He raises his head and grunts once as he regards the beasts in the room.

DoraRose nods, then jumps slightly as the ermine groans. She glances over her shoulder, and her face hardens slightly. She still hasn't gotten rid of all her hard feelings toward him, though she is trying.

The otter looks over at the ermine, then looks away. "Anyhow, I think she kinda likes me..at least I 'ope so..."

Taran glances at the ermine and tilts his head, he looks back to the others, "Friend I am hoping" He says quietly.

"Aye, friend to good and death to evil," Nightbreath says hoarsely with a nod.

DoraRose sighs and nods. "Yeah, I guess he is of friend of mine, of sorts." She glances at the otter and nods almost imperceptibly. She understands. "I'm sure she does."

Lee smiles. "Ye'll 'ave ta meet 'er sometime. She's a very pretty thing..."

Taran nods as Nightbreath answers and sighs, he still seems a bit upset, a sad sort of upset as he rolls over to face the wall.

"What ails you?" Nightbreath asks Taran gently.

A slender blackfurred cat with a white belly wearing a frilled shirt and thick leather gloves enters the recovery room. Ever since the battle a while back the cat keeps getting asked to help out in the medical wing at least once a week. Something about earning his keep. Cheshire walks in and grits his teeth when he sees so many...beasts, "Please tell me you are not all here to be stitched up?"

"G'day," Nightbreath says civilly, nodding to Cheshire as much as his pain will allow.

Lee looks over at the cat that is entering. "Who is he?"

DoraRose turns to the cat and shakes her head. "Oh, no, I'm just here to visit him," she says, gesturing at Taran. She glances at the otter and shrugs slightly. She's got no idea.

Taran frowns, "Besides almost drowning?...My son most likely..hates me"

Cheshire folds his arms across his chest and beams at the question raised by Lee. "I am Cheshire. Inventor and...currently a medical ward helper." He adds with severity to his eyes, "Do any of you need medical treatment?"

Lee says, "I feel fine, thank ye very much..."

"Inventor...Can you craft armor?" Nightbreath suddenly asks eagerly.

DoraRose shakes her head, then goes to tuck the covers gently around Taran's shoulders. "It'll turn out alright, I'm sure." she whispers to him.

Taran sighs , he closes his eyes and lets sleep over take him as a couple tears escape from his eyes.

Cheshire rubs his chin, "Depends on the type. I have never worked with on armor before. Ask me when you get better, we can work something out." he says to the wounded ermine.

Lee just watches.

"Aye." Nightbreath nods, looking excited for once. Unusual.

DoraRose only half-listens to the conversation going on. She leans back and looks at the other mouse, frowning as she goes off into her own little world.

Cheshire catches sight of the otter in the room. "You there, are you visiting some one?"

Lee nods. "Aye, I was visitin' me friend Taran 'ere."

Nightbreath drifts off into his own thoughts, pondering, eyes gleaming in anticipation.

DoraRose jumps as a novice taps her shoulder and whispers something. The warrior nods, then murmers, "Good day," then leaves to do whatever the novice needed her for....probably DoraRose's dibbuns.
