The not-so-triumphant return of Marek and Oh, the eagle ain't that scary.....is she??

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

FV:Gates

Gentle breezes softly drift through the various trees, creating a soft rustle soothing to the ears. The well-worn paw path wanders east and west, not straight as a road but definitely a line. Most of the path cuts through the thick foliage, beaten and well-trod on grass marking its main course. The trees are alive with various sorts of birds and insects, buzzing chirping and skittering about. There are flowers blooming all along the trail of all sorts of colors, scenting the fresh air lightly with their soft fragrances which almost covers the slight scent of decay that comes from the west.

A large arched brick gateway rises up to end the path to the west, tall wooden palisades spreading out from either side with a ditch at their base. Along the gate's topmost arch is carved beautifully in granite, one word. Ferravale. In the vertical sections of the arch are two large openings, within are two large ferret mercenaries, the town's guard with further mercenaries in the guardhouse that can just be seen butting up to the inside of the walls. Inside of this huge arch is a well-crafted cast iron gate, very thick with bars a paw's width apart. A symbol rests is made in the iron, a large paw print, split down the center.

Marek the stoat and Echo the bat. Blisa the cat, Ferdinand the ferret, Valerie the vixen, Butterclaw the sparrow, LilyMoore the mouse, and her mother, DoraRose. Liam the marten and Wesly weasel.

Marek is walking along, for now his ID unseen with his hood up, it is a little cold today after all or at least right now. With him uncloaked is a bat who looks around from his shoulder, "I say...Jay is missing stuff, stuff." He is shooed away with a paw and the bat hmmphs then glances up "Hey a village, can we stop?"

Blisa is checking up on the guards. Some of them have been freaking out because of the eagle that dropped off a fat fox's hide the other week, and she wants to bolster their spirits, which is a thinly veiled attempt at making sure none desert. With her are Valerie and Ferdinand, with Butterclaw hopping around behind them, curious about the running of a village. A lookout spots the stoat from afar and hollers at the petite feline, "Strangers on the path!!" Glaring up at him, the cat hops up on a bale of hay that was put on the walltop just for her and looks at them. "Oh, chill out a little. They can enter if they want to, so long as they don't cause trouble."

Marek looks up slowly at the cat on the wall and rises an eyebrow, the bat flies on up and circles the cat and lands on the wall as he speaks "Its a feline, a cat sir, sir" And the stoat rolls his eyes "Well...duhhhhhh"

"Gah!!" Blisa waves her paws around her head like she's being attacked by a swarm of insects. Ferdinand and Valerie hurry over, and the ferret goes to grab the bat and glare right into his eyes as Valerie says agitatedly, "Yes, and she's also the daughter of our Chieftain, you ridiculous little......bat! I would kindly ask that you would not fly around her like that! It scares us!" Butterclaw hops up onto the wall and peers curiously at the stoat below. "Stoatworm look like Marekworm Lilyfriend. Why stoatworm be with batworm fakebird??"

Marek blinks, he does take off his hood and folds his arms over his chest "Echo...down here now" The bat frowns "Sorry, sorry" And he flaps down and lands by Marek as the stoat answers the question, "The bat is a friend sir bird, helped me when I was badly injured one day." He leaves it at that as, well from what he DOES remember and what he has been told it was not a fun thing to relive at all.

The beasts on the walltop freeze at what the stoat does. "....Marek??" Blisa says in a stunned voice, then her face breaks into a bright, happy smile, and she shouts, "MAREK!!" and quick as a flash she is running down the stairs, Ferdinand and Valerie hard on her heels. Butterclaw flies down and lands at the stoat's feet, singing a happy song. "Marekworm Lilyfriend isback, isback, isback!!" The cat runs out of the gate to the sound of astonished guards. "Marek! You're back! I've been so worried!!" As they come to a stop in front of him, the vixen watches him closely. She's not liking this. Not. at. all.

Marek backs up a little from all the, what he sees as over excited beasts and he looks very confused too. He doesn't reach for his blade though, something seems to make him not do that as Blisa is familiar, but he is not sure why. The bat hides behind Marek and frowns, before Marek speaks finally, "W...What?...Who did you call me?"

The look of joy on the cat's face fades, her jade green eyes wide. "Wh...what do you mean, who did I call you?" Valerie rests a paw on the cat's shoulder, shaking her head, then turns to the Sparra. "Butterclaw, go get Lily, quickly!!" The sparrow nods and flies off, filled with concern, as the vixen smiles and steps forward. "Oh, she just called you /Marek/. You look allot like our friend who went missing a few months ago. My name is /Valerie/, and these are /Ferdinand/ and /Blisa/. Welcome to /Ferravale/, in /Mossflower country/." She's hoping that the key words will trigger something, or at least let her know how bad his amnesia is. The ferret is resting a paw on the feline's shoulder; she looks ready to cry.

Marek frowns as he is listening to their words "This...place, seems I have been to Mossflower and I do know it's called that from numerous beasts...Marek you say? Is that...that me?" He sounds confused "Sorry my mind has been fuzzy since the accident and I remember little of that and some was told to me." He has a scar by his ear and going down his neck some, some hidden by fur going around his ear.

Blisa bites her lip to keep from crying. Valerie smiles and nods. "So...you had an accident? I'm sorry to hear that. I am a Healer, by the way. Yes, Marek is your name. You are our tavern keeper here in Ferravale. Can you tell me what you do remember, and what name you are using right now?" Ferdinand smiles in a friendly manner, wanting to help, but not knowing how to.

Marek looks over at Blisa and frowns and looks back to the healer, "I...remember...water, a lot of water and this cliffside, and a bat and flying squirrel who found me and not really gone by any name...not really, stayed in this cave by a waterfall and healed from my injuries and felt sort of like south was a good place to go, I am unsure why...maybe slightly remembering being around these parts."

Blisa and Ferdinand stay silent for now, letting the Healer do all the talking. Valerie nods slowly, then holds out a paw. "May I see any head injuries you sustained? I may be able to tell you something that your friends might not have been able to. But can you remember anything from before that?"

Marek shakes his head to remembering, well least not much "I...not much. There is a fight at some...large building and a village..." He will let her look at the now scar around his left ear and going down the side of his neck, behind the left ear and around that area of the head is signs of what was a bad wound, but it's been tended to clearly but the scar is still there and it may of been deep and to the bone. Its not clear if his skull was cracked or not, it may of been faintly. "I...also had 4 broken ribs and a broken arm, I don't remember who I fought but...someone who was powerful clearly and from what been told most likely dead as seems they had fallen, we both did but I landed on this edge behind the waterfall and the other beast went on over and below"

Valerie nods slowly as she examines the scar, brow furrowing. "Hmm.....I see. Well, you've been through a lot, I can tell. You have every right to not remember. Don't worry too much about it," she adds with a reassuring smile. Meanwhile, Lily and Dora have arrived to just in sight of the little group. They have arrived here in record time; it looks like they might've traveled through the woodlands to save time. A straight line is the shortest distance between 2 points, after all. Butterclaw lands beside the stoat, seeming to appear out of nowhere, and chirrups. "Lilyfriend and Doramother are on their way!!"

Marek nods and looks at the sparrow, "Ummm...ok, I suppose." He says as he backs up a little again. The bat decides to fly off and find something to eat and all these new beasts seem to bother him.

Blisa waves at the mice when they close enough. They are wearing matching black tunic and black leggings, although Lily isn't wearing any shoes. Dora has her boots on and is carrying her axe. The young mouse takes a deep breath, then runs forward and goes to hug the stoat as hard as she can. "Marek!!! I've missed you so much!" Valerie watches his face closely, hoping that this wasn't a mistake on her part. Ferdinand nervously grips his sabre hilt, hoping that the stoat doesn't freak out.

Marek was not looking to be suddenly hugged by a mouse, he doesn't react badly and keeps his paws away from his sword. He does blink and looks down at the mouse confused, "Do I...." He starts to ask as he studies the mouse, his brain trying to remember her some, " you...were upset in a graveyard once, but not here...elsewhere..." He is unsure why but he does finally hug her back, it seems to feel right to him, that she is a friend to him. "I....am sorry I was away" He says softly.

Blisa and her bodyguards relax visibly, and the cat steps forward. "She's your /best/ friend, Marek." DoraRose starts a whispered conversation with Valerie and Ferdinand as LilyMoore looks up at her friend, worry and sadness lining her face. "Yeah, at Redwall. You helped me after somebeast that I really looked up to died. Do you remember more of me? I'm Lily.....we're friends."

Marek studies her quietly for maybe 5 minutes and frowns as he shakes his head, "Not...too much. I am sorry....Lily.." He says, the name Redwall seems to make his eyebrow arch,"Redwall is a little familiar to me, the name is have I been there?"

Blisa rubs Lily's back as tears well up in her eyes, and she hides her face in his tunic front as she struggles to not cry. Dora glares at the stoat and answers his question, saying, "Yeah, you've been there. You actually took it over once.” Valerie claps a paw to her brow, and Ferdinand glares at the Warrior, who just shrugs. “What? He has the right to know.”

Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed, thinks Wesly as he walks out of the guard shack with a pine marten close behind him. "...surely you can spare a single guard for this, right? I mean you can't be THAT busy these days..." Liam Grey was currently the reason for the weasel's melancholy mood. The pine marten didn't mind showing off his wealth in the form of flashy silk garments, which still seemed unable to completely cover the marten's considerable girth. Wesly supposed he couldn't fault the marten for that. Wesly found his own armor to be getting tight these days.

"Sorry but, yes. We ARE. What with the Head Guards...passing, things have been swamped. We will get a guard to come check out your problem as soon as-"

"Blisa!" The marten shouts suddenly causing the weasel to perform a double take, "W-wha...?"

"She may not be the Chief but she can get Ferrevale’s Finest to get their tail in gear." Liam gives the weasel a smug smile. He begins to stomp over to the cheiftess-in-training with little to no regard of what she is currently involved in. "Hey! Miss Blisa!"

"W-what? No! Wait! Wait! You can't just barge over and interupt the chieftain's daughter..."

"Would you rather I interupt the Chief for this?"

"No but..."

"Good. Glad we are on the same page. Hey Blisa!"

Marek blinks, "Take over?" He sounds confused and shrugs, maybe he will remember soon or least he hopes so. He looks up as Liam appears, someone else he might know? He sighs and goes to lean on the wall and slides to a sitting position.

Blisa glares at the marten. If looks could kill.....she smiles as she secretly envisions him being sat on by Basilisk, then meets him halfway. "Yes? How can I help you?" Lily glares at her mother, who has gotten into a heated argument with Valerie, then follows the stoat. "I'm sorry...." she murmurs as she sits beside him. It's okay if you can't remember everything right away. I'll still be your friend. Your past doesn't define you; it's who you are, and what you do today, that writes your destiny." Ferdinand follows the cat, hoping to escape the girl fight that's happenin' over there. Butterclaw joins LilyMoore and chirrups, "Marekfriend stoatworm not allowed in red Abbeyplace...."

Marek listens to the sparrow and nods "I...see, I must of done something horrible, something unforgivable....maybe it's best NOT to remember the past. I think Redwall Abbey is a good place, a nice place who would frown, well does frown upon me. I have but one friend I guess...you" He looks at Lillymoore again.

The marten leans back from the heated glare for a moment, allowing the weasel to pipe up, "Sorry ma'am. I tried to keep him away. He's-"

"In need of the guards to get off their lazy tails and help me." Liam says with a hiss to Wesly. "There is a certain beast who needs to be jailed." Passing a glance at the odd assortment of beasts gathered here, "At your earliest convenience to be sure. He, he..." Liam trails off, "Ok I'll bite, what exactly IS going on here. I don't think I've seen Marek so melancholy since the day he found out Lormis DIED."

Blisa sighs as she struggles to hold back her impatience. "Who is it and what did he do?" She bares her scary pointy teeth and goes to kick the marten in the shin. "He's having amnesia, stupid! Uhr, why is this happening today??" The vixen and the mouse mother have reduced to silent glares. Lily smiles and nods encouragingly. "Yes, they do hate you, but you are welcome in Ferravale, and I will always be your friend....." she trails off as the marten talks, then goes to hold her friend's paw. "Yeah.....that's what had happened that you had helped me with."

Marek nods, "Lorimis...a mouse." He is remembering a little and frowns "My mind been so...fuzzy since the...waterfall and..." He frowns and suddenly tenses up and closes his eyes, whoa is he remembering? Well yeah but it's not a good memory as he tenses up as if in pain..."Noo...no falling...water...the waterfall and rocks!...C...Can't nothing to grab...Grab...onto to....falling!" He seems to suddenly have trouble breathing as memory becomes so SO real to him, great thing to relive! "Gonna...die!" He breaths and sort of hyperventilates some and shivers, as he curls into a ball and shivers again..."Noo...nooo..." He Yeah he is sort of out of it and opens his eyes and then closes them passing out from the stress!

The marten lets out a shout. Rubbing his sore shin he hisses, "Oh sure, some crazy guy is mucking about in front of my Inn declaring the end of the world but everything has to stop for one beasts lost memory." The marten rolls his eyes as he glances over to Marek. Crossing his arms he continues, "Ffffine. I suppose the tavern can't continue with out Marek, less the village fall apart with out the tavern."

Seeing that the marten's presence is in no way helping the situation the weasel moves to pull Liam off to the side, then the stoat begins to thrash and yell and consequently pass out.
"Well...that's...ok then." Liam says in shock, instantly putting his foot in his mouth. Wesly actually sighs in relief, finding an 'out' of this situation. "I'll get him to the healer ma'am!" he says as he moves for the stoat.

"MOM!" Lily screams as her friend has his little panic attack thing. DoraRose leaves off glaring at the vixen and rushes over just in time to see the stoat pass out. She looks sharply at the weasel. "You! Help me carry him to the Infirmary!" While Blisa waves a paw, allowing the guard to accompany the mouse Warrior, Valerie glares at him. "/I'm/ a healer, stupid." Lily, tearfully, goes to help however she can. Ferdinand's eyes widen in shock and surprise.

Valerie, grumbling, walks over to check on the stoat. "Yeah, I think the Infirm is the best place for him right now."

The marten stands off to the side, letting Wesly awkwardly grab the stoat by the other arm and struggle to carry him off to the healers hut. "Become a guard they said, see the world they said..." he grumbles.

Liam, after a momentary pause, crosses his paws behind his back. "Sooooooooo. Does this mean you are free to help me with my problem?" He says with a smile to Blisa, "Or too soon?"

Blisa sighs and glares up at the marten. "Okay. Fine. What's happening, who's doing it, and why, if you know???" Valerie and Ferdinand come up behind her and stand there, silently staring at the marten's face. Butterclaw went with the other group.

Ever the smug creature Liam offers a coy smile, "Perhaps it is better if you see for yourself. But I will endeavor to explain on the way." The marten proves himself still capable of rudimentary motion and begins walking for the village square. "His name is Conroy McFarlan. He's...well. Old. To put it mildly. And possibly senile. He's been parading up and down the market place for the last week only because I threatened to have him jailed if he continued loitering in front of the Inn. He's been...well...I'll let you see it for yourself..."

"The end is upon us! The dark times have come! Death will come for us all from the sky unless you change your ways!" For such a small rat his voice carries across the market place quite well, drowning out even the calls of merchants and buyers.

The beast is a small grey rat with a large scraggly beard. His eyes are blood shot and he smells like he hasn't bathed in a while. Not having access to sack cloth he wears a burlap sack that reaches his knees. "The time of greedy beasts with a love of money has ended! They are doomed along with the village."
Liam gestures to the rat and the crowd gathered around him. "See? Right there? That's gotta be slander right there..."

Blisa pinches the bridge of her nose as her bodyguards stare at the rat in shock. "Oh, for the love of sanity...." The cat stalks up to the doom preacher and glares at him murderously. "You! Aged one! I'm trying to keep peace in this village, and I can't do that with you shoutin' about the end of the world everywhere!! Now button yer trap or I'll FEED YOU TO MY SNAKE!!!!" she sweeps off, ordering some random guards to make sure that the rat does as she has requested. Valerie and Ferdinand quickly follow her and start trying to talk her out of her threat.
