RW Abbey: Gatehouse

A small but well set up room set into the walls of the abbey near the gates. It has a single small window and a sturdy door with iron hinges. One your left the far wall has been almost completely taken up by shelving that holds well cared for old scrolls and manuscripts; the shelves leaving just enough space for a framed painting of Redwall. The wall that the door is set in but on the left hand side is sat a large locker where weapons are stored and then, beside it, is a very small desk that is covered in wood shavings. On the rear wall, below a ladder leading to the loft, is another locker, but it is smaller than the first and more of a cabinet. The only other wall houses a small fireplace and by it sits a pot with a ladle in it, and in front of the hearth is a handmade wooden rocking chair. The only other furnishings in the room are a small table and two chairs.

Small Box

Tie has returned his flat cap to his head, though it is now stained in a rather maroonish color since the rather bloody experience on the beach. He is sitting on a chair in the gate house, panting slightly. He looks travel worn and a bit dusty and much to his annoyance his cane has of yet to be returned to his possession.

The door opens, and a youthfull female mouse with brown fur and blue eyes enters the gatehouse. "Oh!" she cries softly. She was obviously not expecting to see anybeast here. "Hello."

Tie is quite startled and he jumps out of his chair, almost knocking it over. In the same movement he reaches up and makes sure his caps brim is over his eyes and when he realizes it is he nods awkwardly in the direction he heard the voice. "Hello. Sorry if I scared you." His voice is not nearly as awkward as his nod and he offers the mouse a smile.

She smiles gently. "And I'm sorry if I scared you." she moves to the desk and sets a package she was carrying down on it. "I'm DoraRose Strongheart. I don't believe I ever seen you here at Redwall before."

The door swings open like it was smashed with a battering ram and Zarok hurtles in at something akin to terminal velocity. "YEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" He shouts this for no reason other than the pure joy of living, of being able to do so.

Benar catches the door with his hand as it swings back after Zarok's shout, "Zarok..." he says quietly, "That is no way for an abbey beast to behave." He gives him a warm smile however and shakes his head, "You knock before entering someones home." he knocks on the door firmly, "And wait for them to answer, you do not barge in."

Tie smiles again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Strongheart. I'm Tie. I hope I am not int-" He cuts short and can't help but flinch as the yelling starts. He takes a step back, just to be safe, hoping that whatever it is not hostile.

DoraRose smiles warmly at Tie, a thought crossing her face, but instead of voicing it, she turns to Zarok. "Knocking is the more polite thing to do, Zarok."

"But I /know/ youzzz," Zarok protests. "If it wossa strangerbeazzzt, den I might've knocked...But we /know/ each otherzzz, an' bezidezz, if I'd stop'd t'knock, I woulda crasssshed into 'a door, righ'?...ssssss...."

Benar strolls over and grips Zarok's head with one paw and tilts it back, "You shouldn't have been running either. And you knock, you know Dora yes. But this is her home, she could have been in the bath, asleep in bed, getting changed. You knock and be polite or else you might interupt Dora in the middle of something and then she would not be happy to see you."

"Dere'z a bafftub in here?" Zarok asks, stalling for time and letting everything else Benar said wash right over him.

Tie frowns, half tempted to rip off his cap so he can view the two beast that just entered, for they sound like quite a pair, but he instead settles for sitting back down in the chair he had just occupied. The thought does cross his made that he should probably wait to sit until invited to do so, but he shrugs it off. He's tired.

DoraRose cocks an eyebrow and nearly laughs at Zarok's various thoughts. "Not yet." she gets a cup of tea and absently hands it to Tie, then gestures to a couple of chairs. "Want some tea?"

Benar smiles at Dora and inclines his head, "Tea would be lovely and you," he shakes Zarok's head, "Learn to knock, if I hear or see you do that again I'll tell Oz." he then inclines his head to Tie amd smiles, "Good day."

"An' if y'tell Oz he'd have t' /catch/ me first," Zarok says smugly before pulling free from Benar's paw and springing up into one of the chairs, perching bird-like on the seat. "Tea wotizzz?"

Tie feels a paw out in front of him until he locates the tea and then he takes it, murmuring his thanks as he brings the cup to his mouth. He takes a rather long swig before answering Benar. "Hello, sir. I hope the day finds you well?"

DoraRose smiles softly at Tie, then gets tea...with lots of honey in Zarok's cup. "Here you go."

Zarok's forked tongue shoots out to slurp the cup that he holds carefully in his claws, feeling the warmth of the drink pass from his throat to every part of him as he swallows. His eyes glaze as he mumbles, "Goodizz, Dorrozzzze...."

Benar asks, "It was a nice day," he says to the squirrel, "But someone is dissapointing me alot, I guess you have given up wanting to learn pottery from me Zarok?"

Tie frowns, nodding in the general direction of Benar. "Who?" He hopes the question is obvious.

DoraRose smiles. "I'm afraid I have to leave....thank you for stopping by. Feel free to stay down here...just don't come upstairs, please. Good day." placing her paw gently, breifly on Zaroks' head, she heads upstairs.

And I had to log off here, too. Thanks for reading!
