Reunion Part1

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Rorgan and Derrin have a chance encounter with two beasts on the road...and one very starving fox. Elise and Henri Truchon are played by me.

The sun beats down hard on he heads of vermin and woodlanders alike this day, and this is accompanied by the strange sight of twin black otters traveling down the road, looking nearly identical in appearance aside from their clothing. One is clothed with a suit of black leather armor and armed with twin daggers and a bow along with a quiver of arrows. The other wears a green vest and black lace up pants along with white wraps that are wrapped tightly around his paws. Both otters keep an even stride as they continue down the road, conversing casually with each other happily.

Up ahead there is a disturbance. Or prehaps an annomoly. A young grey furred fox lays sprawled out in the middle of the road. His tounge lays off to the side as he stares blankly into the sky. He is wearing a old style green long patrol jacket and appears to be quite still. Fly's are buzzing around the fox.

The twin otters don't notice the fox for the longest time before one points, saying, "Rorgan, look! Is that beast dead?" The other simply shrugs, not seeming to care too much. "Dunno...mayhaps we should check.." With that, the two slowly begin to walk towards the fox, eyeing his form curiously.

It's hard to tell really. The fox lays prone on the ground. If one were to check his breathing they might be able to tell but the smell alone is horrible. If he is alive then he isn't in too good of health. His ribs show under his fur, his limbs have no meat to them at all and his pelt is shaggy. He also appears to have a swelling black eye. Perhaps he didn't collapse on his own out here in the woods.

The two otters stop a small distance away from the fox, and Rorgan slowly draws his bow and an arrow. "Derrin...go check on him, but be careful. I'll cover you from here." Even as he says this, his arrows nocks on the bowstring and draws back as Derrin begins to continue forward closer to the fox.

The fox is breathing, so at least there is one sign he is alive. He does however look like he has been beaten to a pulp upon further inspection. Who could have done this? Well lots of beasts, Vannon isn't the best fighter, but most likely it was the shadowy beast leaping out of hte bushes towards rorgan.

The beast is an otter of the female persuasion. She is covered in light creme brown fur. She is wearing a small red tunic and brown vestment, both which leave her waist exposed, she wears brown trousers and a wooden face mask that looks like a cat with several sparrow feathers around it. Red paint dyes sections of her fur from her arms to her neck, to even her tail.

None of this however is as important as the oaken staff about to knock the bow out of Rorgan's paws.

Rorgan's eyes widen as a strangely dressed beasts comes out of the bushes and knocks his bow from his paws, which is instantly replaced by his serrated twin daggers that quickly swipe towards the other otter even as Derrin stands and turns, eyes widening. The otter instantly begins to run towards the fight, fists clenching.

The otter leaps backwards away from Rorgan, keeping her staff spinning in both paws to keep his distance. At the last moment she sends the end of the staff towards Derrin's middle.

Caught off guard, the staff thwacks him straight in the stomach, but he instantly reacts and both paws grip the staff as his body turns, aiming to use the leverage to take the staff from the attacking otter.

The otter meeps. "H-hey!" Failing to wrestle the staff out of the beasts paws she tries to thrust the staff upwards into his snout and perhaps unwisely turning her attention away from Rorgan."

Unfortunately for the otter, Derrin has rather acute reflexes, and his head moves quickly out of the way. Rorgan, noticing his chance, takes no risks and simply sheaths both daggers and leaps forward, aiming to crash straight into the attacking otter with all of his muscled weight.

Making a pained gasp the otter is thrown to the ground. Her mask comes flying off revealing a young otter underneath with brown eyes. The wind knocked out of her she struggles to get back up to her feet. "That will be enough of that mates..." A grizzled voice says from behind the three fighting beasts. A second attacking otter is here, he is scrawny and underneath the black bandanna that covers his lower face it is clearly seen he has some age to him. He wears a simple dark green tunic over light brown fur and more importantly, is armed with a large oak wood crossbow, his deadly pay load aimed for rorgan's back. "Now step away from the lady and..." The otter pauses to peer closer at the beasts, "Rorgan? Derrin? Stars! Is that really you?"

Rorgan stands up from the grounded otter, and both otters turn to look at the older otter. "I'm sorry, who exactly are you?" Asks Derrin, being the first one to ask why this strange otter even knew their names. Rorgan, for his part, looks equally as confused, but remains silent since his question had been voiced for him.

The smaller otter on the ground looks eaqually confused. "Rorgan? Derrin?" It takes a while for the girls memory to reconize the name. Then her eyes widen and she gasps. Leaping up she gives them both a smile and at first seems to go to wrap them both in a large bear hug. Instead she throws a punch at Rorgan's Jaw, "Where in all of Moss Flower have you too been!?" The second attacker shakes his head, rolling his eyes a bit, "Yep, she remembers them..." Puting the safty on for the cross bow the older otter takes off his mask revealing an eldrely face with several a scar around his neck, "Elise, please. Try not to kill the only members left of our tribe after just finding them..."

Rorgan can't quite look any more confused, but the punch to his jaw certainly rattles him, and he stumbles a few steps forward, holding his jaw. "Ow! Hey, wot was that for?!" He demands, but Derrin pays him no attention as he inquires, "Tribe? What in the stars are you talkin' about? I don't know no tribe or nothin', an' neither does Rorgan. How do you know us?"

The older otter takes a step forward as Elise crosses her arms, glaring at them both. Shaking his head in laughter the older beast says to them. "I knew your family...very well. I was there when your village was burned to the ground...If I had known you had both escaped..." tears are welling up in his eyes. He takes a deep breath and smiles, "Call me Henri, Henri Truchon. And this is my Daughter Elise. We both came from the same village as your mother and father..."

Rorgan's eyes widen, and his paw slowly falls from his jaw. "M-My da and ma?" He asks, shocked that they had been lucky enough to meet this beast. Derrin, however, asks, "You said 'your' family. Did you mean mine, or Rorgan's?" The ignorance of what Henri is telling them is rather evident in both otters as they watch Henri curiously.

The otter sighs, rubbing his head, "Oh boy..." He expected them not to remember Elise, they didn't know her that well, but... "It looks like we have a lot to talk about..."

Rorgan frowns. "You're...not answering the question. Whose family are you referring to?" He asks, genuinely lost. Apparently, it hadn't occurred to either of them how similar they looked, to the point that they were hardly distinguishable.
