Return to Arundal

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Rorgan and Derrin help the ex sheriff of Arundal out by smuggling the fox out of Arundal.

The trip between Arundal and Ferreval is usually about four to six hours by foot paw, a little less by carriage, and near impossible when weather strikes. With the prospect of angry Militia members hot on thier tail the party makes good time arriving at sun set. By then most of the villages foot traffic has lessened. Byron wags his tail happily as he looks upon the village. He may have lost his power, wealth and prestige but he still has his hide, and in the end that is all that matters. As for Diego the squirrel is looking rather pale and despite their best efforts the knife wound to his belly is still bleeding, if only a little.

The journey had not taken too much of a toll on the twins, seeing as how they had taken longer journeys than this one. Rorgan had mostly taken to walking alongside the carriage, or pulling when it was his turn. Derrin, on the other paw, stayed with Diego throughout the entire ride, talking to the squirrel and generally feeling a sense of responsibility over him. The only time he left the squirrel's side was when he helped his brother pull the carriage, seeing as how Rorgan wasn't going to do it on his own.

The lizard runner finely stops the cart panting heavily as he does. It's amazing how quickly the little lizard has slimmed down since taking this job, it's also amazing how Byron the fox hasn't lost an ounce of weight since pulling the cart. Of course the hefty fox never pulled it that much but how he manages to keep so much energy in his steps is just as amazing. "Well done lads. I say this is a mission complete. I am also afraid that this is where we part ways." He waves to them both, "Thank you both for your help. With out you well, I would probibly be a new rug on Tavis's office floor." From in the cart Diego cringes and moans. "Then again, prehaps it's best to leave the goodbyes short." Byron concludes.

Derrin slowly and carefully picks Diego up from the cart and slowly steps down so as not to hurt the squirrel. "Rorgan, we need t' get Diego t' the healer right now afore he dies of blood loss." As he begins to quickly walk off through Ferravale, Rorgan sighs. "Just please, don't go causin' trouble here. I'd hate t' think of havin' t' come back an' do anythin' drastic." On that happy note, he looks at Trsk with hard eyes. "Stay right here. If I don't see you when I return, yore a dead lizard, you hear me?"

The little lizard mimics the otters voice and snaps his claws open and closed as he does. "Blah blah blah. I don't get paid if I leave you behind." The fox chuckles to this. "Don't worry mate, after this I consider us even." He says on a more serious note, "Thank you for your help. It's...been so long since a beast actually helped me, it's...well a new feeling again." The fox waves once then separates himself from the group. It will take half a day to get back to Arundal, and most likely they will need a nights rest. That gives him maybe two full days to relocate himself before they find out the real reason he had to leave Arundal...
