/waves./ Heya guys!

So, there is something that has been on my mind a lot recently, and I figured now was the time to bring it up.

Recently, Martin the Warrior has been being mentioned in RP often. And that's good! I'm sure he appreciates being included. X) Even I have a char who likes to talk about him- she even had that nightmare about him that I posted to the forum, if any of you remember.

While talking about Martin in RP is good, I think he is being over-used, and used in ways that are not appropriate.

Feel free to tell me I'm over-thinking this!

But really. And I'm not trying to poke at anyone in particular, or get someone in trouble, but I think you guys know who I'm talking about.

In the books, Martin made appearances in times of trouble. He appeared in dreams warning creatures of bad things to come, or to help them through a dangerous situation when nothing else was possible.

But I've been watching the radio, and he isn't being used like that.

Instead, I see him giving relationship help.

Martin isn't a therapist! And besides, you wouldn't have a dream from Martin and then go out looking for advice about it- in the IC world (unless you are a vermin) Martin's word is law, pretty much. You would mull over the dream and then go and do what he told you to do.

Martin also would not say "Give my sword to so-and-so if you are disabled" UNLESS THE WIELDER IS GOING TO BE DISABLED. A dream like that from Martin is a premonition, a warning of bad things to come. It also seems a bit pushy, to me anyway, to say "I had a dream and Martin the Warrior told me to take his sword." That, in my head, shows that you are really pushing boundaries- you want to be the next champion of Redwall, you want the sword. you want, you want, you want. It especially seems odd if you aren't a member of the order, or you are new to the abbey, or there isn't even a TP going on!!

I bring this up mainly because it puts me in an odd situation. IC, I'm required to agree, because IC, I trust Martin's word, and I trust the chars who are claiming to have these dreams. OOC, though, I feel like it puts me in an awkward position. Because OOC, I don't agree with it.

Please toss your thoughts into this! I'd love to hear what other people have to say, even if it is "Don't be a jerk, Brokenrain, this is totally ok!" ;)

Thanks for reading!

~Brokenrain
