Mossflower Woods
--------------------------------------------------------------------
You find that the trees here have begun to thin, and the sound of rushing water somewhere nearby reaches your ears. A short distance to the west, the trees end, and the dirt road can just be glimpsed past their shadowed trunks, winding on its never ending journey northward. To the east the forest thickens considerably, limiting your range of vision.

Marek the stoat. LilyMoore the mouse.

Marek is in the woods, with out a tent and no fire. Then again its summer why does he need a fire for. He calls out "Zaram get the...oh yeah forgot" He mutters to himself as he is so use to asking Zaram to do something and the mole stayed at Ferravale. He sighs and sits down getting out a couple apples and rice cakes to eat. He has fish he cooked earlier but that's for later.

LilyMoore is lost. She is so very, very lost. She thought /hey, I can go explore the woods as long as I stay in sight of Ferravale!/, but NOOOOOOO. She got lost in the vastness of the woodlands. And now Mossflower, which used look so peaceful and safe, looks brooding and dangerous. She is terrified. "Momma? Dad? Benar? Blisa?" she calls, her voice high and squeaking. She hugs herself as a tear falls down her cheek, and she calls out in a scared, tiny little voice, "Somebeast...?"

Marek picks up the sound of a voice, he is unsure of who it is just yet and makes a mental note where the crossbow is and lays down his meal and stands to look around carefully. He has already avoided a crazy rabbit bend on revenge it seems. The rabbit gave up and had went south a couple hours ago. He clearly rather avoid any beast right now as he tries to listen. Least the day is clear and there is only a few small clouds, so no rain.

LilyMoore has started to cry. She stumbles along, unknowingly coming closer to her friend's camp. Suddenly, she trips on some vines and falls, rolling into a rock. She cries out in pain as the stone cuts into her shoulder, and she then bursts into heart-rending sobs. Why, oh, why did she leave the safety of the village? She could be hangin' out with Blisa right now! Why did she do something so foolish?

Marek is following the sound of crying. Something a mere 2-3 seasons ago would of just laughed at and avoided, but not today as he is drawn to it and he is unsure why. He stops and seems ready to turn around "It's probably nothing, not my concern...what?" He catches movement, small movement and walks over and once he gets a look at whom it is his eyes widen and he quickens his pace and is soon by her side, "Lilymoore?" He looks at her shoulder seeing a small tear and checks for a cut, surprisingly very gently he checks for a cut "What are you doing in the woods?"

LilyMoore jumps with fright, but then she sees who it is and goes to hug him. "M...m.....m...Marek!" The cut on her shoulder is circular and about 3 inches in diameter. "I.....the Ab...Abbot is...is having a p....processional an'.....and we're in F....Ferravale, an' I wanted to explore an'.....I got lost...." She is still sobbing but now it's tears of relief. Her cut is bleeding heavily, and it obviously hurts allot.

Marek is surprised when he is hugged, and nods as he doesn't return the hug right away. He first looks at the cut and goes to clean it gently and looks in a small medkit, yes he keeps a small one with him. He finds an herb good for helping in slowing bleeding and one for preventing infection. He applies pressure to the wound first and looks to see if it needs sewed or not "I...heard of the Redwallers coming to Ferravale soon, it's why I am not there"

The wound does not need stitches, and the young mouse does not resist the healing he's offering. "Why would you leave? Isn't...isn't Ferravale your home? You should be able to stay in your home." LilyMoore looks up into his eyes, her own now clear of tears and full of innocence. She obviously trusts him. "Only Blisa's Dad....Scioto? Yeah, him. He's the only one who has the right to make you leave...right?"

Marek watches her and listens a short while and gets back to tending the wound that he applies the herbs to and then bandages. Its helpful to know some healing and answers the question "You may be right but even he can not control everyone"

LilyMoore looks confused as she ignores the pain that is inevitably caused by having her wound tended to. "But why did you leave?" Her question is full on innocence and concern for her friend. "We could've been having so much fun."

Marek blinks at the offer of fun, "Fun?" He frowns and stands up, he offers her help up if needed, "I am not sure I would know what fun was Lilymoore, and I left to avoid trouble. The abbey beasts don't want me around, some even want me dead most likely and being outside the abbey, rules or not, some may see as a perfect time to try to end my life. I seeked forgiveness once and didn't get it. I was escorted outside the abbey, I am just glad it was Abbot Benar and was done peacefully. I then never went near the abbey again after that"

LilyMoore accepts his help up, even though she didn't need it. She goes to keep ahold of his paw, a look that is some combination of hurt, sorrow and confusion on her face. "I could teach you what fun is. And I'm an Abbeybeast--I've lived there my whole life--and /I/ want you around. I didn't forgive you because I didn't see anything that needed forgiving. And I think it's good to be trying to avoid trouble, but you shouldn't've left your home just because we were there. It's YOUR home, not ours. If others don't want to be around you, then they should have NEVER come to Ferravale."

Marek manages a small smile, a very small one. "It's...not that simple, I would not want to mess up thier day by being nearby. And yes Ferravale...is a home I should keep."

LilyMoore frowns. "Why can't it be that simple?" She goes to hold his paw more comfortably as she gazes up into his face.

Marek looks down at the mouse and frowns, tears go down his face, and he is quiet for what seems like forever, "Because, some beasts wish me dead and could care less if I have changed or not, some don't believe me and very few do or least say they do. Scioto gave me a home and I am in charge of the tavern. Maybe I will go back but not for a few days I think. I have thought of leaving Mossflower even...you...you may be my only real true friend"

LilyMoore stares at him for a moment, then goes to hug him tightly. "You can't go! You're my friend, too! My heart would break if you left! I need my friends!" She goes to bury her face in his tunic.

Marek tenses up at the hug and then slowly returns one of his own, he oddly is crying now as he hugs her and thinks back to the last few days. "I am...not even allowed in your abbey." He seems to want to stay but at the same time run away and never look back. "I...have few friends and lost one....Reseda...and been afraid of losing you as well. I still want forgiveness from the abbey, but...if I ever get it I will be surprised"

LilyMoore looks up into his face again. "I don't care if you're never allowed in Redwall again. I will never stop being your friend. I swear it on my life!" After a few moments, she reaches up to try and wipe away a tear [from his cheek] and adds, "Who's Reseda?"

Marek frowns "She was...a beast I was becoming very close to, I loved her, she was the main healer in Ferravale and that insane mouse killed her, she ...died in my arms.." Here he stops, yes too much for him as he coughs back a tear "We...we need to get you back to the Redwallers Lilymoore" He says softly , he will risk death to get her back safe and sound, he will also make sure she gets there safely as well.

LilyMoore is filled with compassion for her friend, and she goes to hug him again, gently. "I'm so sorry. But answer me this: what did she want for you, and for your life? Who did she want you to become?" She ignores his suggestion of returning her to her parents for now.

Marek is listening and tilts his head, "You are wise for your seasons, do you know that?" He does answer the question though "I...well, she wanted me to be happy, to have friends and to be able to not worry on things. She said to keep seeking forgiveness and...things take time" The last part is said slowly as he seems to suddenly remember the words, things take time and maybe in his case a long time.

LilyMoore smiles. "Exactly. And how can you seek forgiveness if you keep running away?" She steps back and goes to hold his paws, her smile warm, like a fire on a cold winter's night. "Perhaps, instead of being depressed about her dieing, you should honour her in your actions by not running away from those who need to forgive you."

Marek smiles now "But.." He then nods "You are right, I should not run away, I need to stay and the tavern needs me. But I will still not bother the Redwallers while I am there, if one of them wishes to speak with me, they may do so and hopefully without a blade in paw"

LilyMoore grins and jumps a little on the balls of her shoeless feet. "Perfect! Exactly!" she goes to hug him again. "I'm so glad that you understand!" After a few minutes she looks up and changes the subject, saying, "Am I really, truly wise?"

Marek smiles, "Yes you are wise, but seriously you need to get back to your parents. I do know the way back to Ferravale" He then gathers up his stuff and places it in a knapsack, well most of it, the ricecakes and an apple is given to Lilymoore if she wants them, as well as some water from a flask as he offers a smile and looks around. Cossbow on back and sword at side, "We should go..."

LilyMoore accepts the food, having had nothing to eat since last night. "Good, I'm glad, 'cause I'm still lost." She goes to take his paw and follow him back to her family.

Marek nods as he leads the way and keeps an eye and ear open for troubles as they walk along the paths, as he nears Ferravale he takes a deep breath, maybe a lttle worried but he tries not to be. He has helped the girl, found her and protected her, tened to her wound and is about to get her safe and sound back to Ferravale.

They go to the Ferravale square, where DoraRose the mouse and Bandit the fox are.

The fox twitches an ear, "Why...don't we find a bench to sit on...ok? Have you eaten today?" It seemed like a silly question when there was such a cause for grief but it was an important one. The fox didn't want her collapsing on him. "Why don't I lead you to a place with more shade and then you can tell me what happened. Just one more time for the head guard, ok?" The fox gestures towards a wooden bench under the shade of the bakery. He begins to push the mouse forward.

DoraRose decides to let the Head Guard guide her to the shaded seat. She sits in it, resting her elbow on her knee and her head in her paw. "I saw her last right before bed last night. I woke up this morning at dawn, and she was gone! I told Blisa, who helped me search getting allot of guards to help. She's nowhere in the village, and it been searched twice." She ignores the question about eating. She hasn't eaten anything at all today, but she doesn't feel like caring right now.

Marek enters slowly as he looks around, yes he came back to Ferravale and beside him is a young mouse, Lilymoore, as he makes sure she stays close as he walks along the path. A couple beasts stare at him and he rolls his eyes, a rat tries to sneak up on the young mouse and Marek turns and punches them in the face, yeah unconscious rat! And he looks around and soon sees the Redwallers and walks towards them. Well this could go good....or very bad.

The fox continues to pat the mouse on the shoulder, "I see...let's see if we can get some, um, cheese, yes, cheese in you. It will help. Trust me on that." He moves her towards the bench. With his back facing the stoat and the missing child the fox takes a deep breath, "Now, this will be hard but I want...no, need you to answer as accurately as possible. Do you know of anyone who might want to, take Lillymore? Do you have any enemies? Did she have any reason to leave of her own free will?"

DoraRose is only half listening to the fox. Then she spots her daughter, and the half of her brain that was listening is now ignoring him. Leaving her axe leaning up against the bench, she runs to her daughter, screaming her name in relief. LilyMoore breaks away from her friend and runs towards her mother, crying, "Momma! Mom!" The embrace in the middle of the square, both weeping like a pair of crazy people.

Marek watches this and smiles at the reunion, "I am...glad she is ok. She was in the woods Ms. Dorarose, but now she is safe and...here with you." He looks at Bandit and nods a hello and looks towards the tavern, "I...need a drink" He mutters.

Bandit turns abruptly and watches the scene unfold. IT takes his brain a moment to wrap around such an outcome. "Well...ok then." Paws on his pudgy hips the fox says aloud, "That's another case wrapped up in record time." The fox then moves forward towards the beasts, "Are you ok Lilly? Dora? MAREK? Where did you find..." and the stoat is gone. "Great...just blummin' great. OH well, all's well that ends well but really, where have you been little one?"

DoraRose pulls back and strokes her daughter's ears. "Why did you leave? I've been worried sick." LilyMoore looks down at the ground. "I wanted to explore the woodlands, but I was foolish and got lost. But Marek found me. He's my friend, and he brought me back here." She looks over her shoulder at him and smiles. "He helped my with my shoulder 'cause it was banged up. He's a good friend." The Warrior stares at the stoat, obviously surprised and suspicious. But all she says is, "Thank you. For helping my daughter." Lily looks at the fox and says, "I'm okay, I guess. All thanks to my friend."

Marek blinks in surprise at Dorarose and nods "You're...welcome" He then bows and heads over to the tavern and disappears inside, and he sets to work getting the tavern back in running order. Good grief he leaves a couple days and the tavern starts to go downhilll. Well he is back now so that's good.

The fox raises an eyebrow, He passes the stoat a glance as he disappears into his own tavern. Then to the mice he nods his head, "Are you two ok for the moment? I need to let the guard's know that they can call off the search." He hesitates for a moment before adding, "I'm glad your daughter is ok. These woods are not the safest for lost travelers these days...and in my opinion there is enough tragedy lately..."

LilyMoore nods and hugs her mother, who stands, hugging her in return. "Thank you. I understand that the woodlands are not safe. They haven't been in the seasons I've been here. I am just glad to have her back home. And please make sure that Blisa is told. She's somewhere out there with her snake and Ferdinand and Valerie." They go to go to wherever the Abbeydwellers are staying and eat a late lunch.

Thanks for reading! Blisa, Basilisk, Ferdinand, Valerie and Butterclaw cam back and hung out with Lily, rejoicing in the fact that she was found safe and sound :D
