I am NOT going to Hide from ANY Beast

Scioto is still home as it’s early yet and he has yet to go outside and do much. He has even ate breakfast at home of some oatmeal and fruit and some green sap milk, and now he is getting ready to head to his office.

Bandit the fox has also had his morning vitals, but he is wishing he had skipped his morning meal. Being head guard is hard when the guards don't know that you are in fact, head guard. After being turned away from the guards surrounding the house Bandit did the next logical thing. he decided to break into the cheif's home to see him. And thus he was trying to fit his fleshy body into a small basement window. he came free with a loud POP and landed in the basement. His initial glee soon turned to horror as he came face to face with a large...swollen snake. Basilisk greeted him with a hiss...and a snore as it slept on, digesting its weasely meal.

Scioto turns as he hears Bandit and raises an eyebrow, "Greetings Bandit" He says calmly as he adjusts his cape. He glances at the snake and sighs shaking his head slowly.

Bandit can't seem to bring himself to face the cat. His gaze is transfixed on the deadly serpent before him. "By all that is holy...the rumors...they...they were true!" The fox tried to shimmy his way around the snake, back against the wall. Basilisk stirs in his slumber, unblinking eyes fixed uncomfortably on the fox's pudgy tummy. "I um...I came to see you but...the guards...and...and..." The foxes words trail off.

Scioto looks confused at first, "The guards what? There wasn't more trouble was there, I don’t need more trouble already dealing with some insane mouse and yes you heard right a mouse and his archer ferret friend."

Bandit moves around the snake, keeping the chief between him and that scaly beast, "The only trouble I am having is that the guards don't know that I am in charge of them! And even if they did, I'm not quite sure what to do with them." Bandit gestured to the cat, "I heard you were attacked and came to see you. You say it was a mouse and some ferret that tried to do you in?"

Scioto frowns "I had meant to say something that afternoon, but as you know I was attacked yes. His name is Irinevok and he has an..interesting style of clothing. I do not know much of him, Marek knows a lot more than I do. The ferret was the one that fired the arrow, maybe he is like some sort of top beast that works for the mouse. I don’t know as things happen so fast that day and if it wasn’t for the fact I forgot I placed a thick book in my cloak pocket..well" He doesn’t go into detail of what could of happen.

"Looks like books are good for something after all." The fox chuckles. It is mostly a nervous response to the serpent sleeping off what appears to be a meal. "Can we...discuss this in another room? Away from that, thing?"

Scioto nods as he starts to head outside "Outside is good and..I can let the snake know not to harm you, he does seem to listen to those orders and...well this is the first time he has ate anyone in a long while and they did break into my home and attempted to kill someone." He walks on as he asks "Talk of what? The job of head guard means you’re in charge of them, you make sure they know when to be at their posts and have them patrol inside the village and the path outside some. There is also one other beast not welcome back, though I honestly not sure whom is more dangerous the mouse or Bramblefur"

Bandit talked as he walked through the chiefs home, "Ok...yeah. Yeah, that makes sense." He dares not say that this is his first time being in charge of beasts in this capacity. He doesn't want to give Scioto any more reason to doubt his abilities. "I guess I'll just have to buck up and hit the ground running. I'll try to introduce myself to the guard force and keep a strict watch for these unsavory beasts. Do you know why they want to kill you?"

Scioto shakes his head as they stop by the gate house, “I will be just a moment" He heads inside to speak to the guards, one laugh is heard but followed quickly by a slight sorry, another couple minutes and Scioto is once more beside Bandit “I have spoken to the guards, least the ones in here as a few may be elsewhere as not all are on duty all the time, as for why someone wants me dead probably because I am a leader, I have been a target before. Bramblefur wants me dead most likely as well as I banished him, he was the one who brought that poison tea a couple weeks ago."

Bandit let his tail twitch behind him as he rubs at his chin. "I remember hearing about that..." Crossing his arms the fox replies, "I don't like this Scioto. One can only survive so many attempts on their life until their luck runs out. Try to limit your activities for the next week or so and don't go anywhere without an escort. In the mean time I'll see what I can do to search the woods around town." It’s about the only thing Bandit really can do. "He has got to be hiding somewhere either in town or close by. If he wants vengeance well, he might want to be there to witness it." The fox then shifted uncomfortably where he stood. "Also...I...um, might need an advance on my first pay check. I spent the last of my coins on breakfast."

Scioto narrows his eye at the talk of advance on pay and takes a deep breath to calm himself, "As for limiting my actives I can’t really do that, I have a lot to do and I do have a guard near me usually and it’s possible the snake will keep an eye on things as well. I may be able to pay you a couple days sooner but you cannot make a habit of it”

Bandit wags his tail happily, "Yay. I get to eat this week." He says sarcastically. "I'll head out soon enough. But seriously Scioto. The city can run itself for a day or two without its chieftain. It probably can't run that well with its chieftain dead. You probably shouldn't even be outside showing me around..."

Scioto glares at Bandit" Look, I am not going to hide and make others think I am afraid, I am not afraid and will not make others think I am. I know to be careful and I do have on my chainmail armor under the tunic and I have my blade. I may not go as many places as I usually do and I do not have plans for any trips to the abbey, Marek went to the abbey and most likely will let them know whats going on and I do trust Marek, I see him as a friend now. The thing with Bramblefur and this mouse is different..I think anyways unless they do work together and I have yet to find that out, maybe you can try and find that out. You can make sure a couple guards stay by my office, my house and the tavern entry "

Bandit seemed to lean back as the cat ranted at him. "Wait...Marek...the same beast who took over the abbey once with an army...went to the abbey?" Bandit rubs at his eyes, "Well. It was nice knowing him but I can only pull one beasts tail out of the fire at once. If my search takes me near the abbey I'll make sure he is still ok." The fox rubs at his chin, "Actually. I will leave the guards where they are at. It might be an advantage that no one knows I work for you yet." The fox smiles, "I know a beast that has been up and down moss flower woods..."

Scioto listens "What beast, are they trust worthy? And as for Marek going to the abbey...well, if he gets stuck there a few days there is nothing I can do, if he is not back soon I will go check on him." He hmms "Maybe I should sent word he can be trusted, not that it will help much as most will look at his past first, but also the abbey isn’t a place that harms one or kills beasts either. They would listen to what he has to say and hopefully see he has changed. Benar is abbot now, but I do not know his feelings if Marek is there but I do know he does try to be understanding and will listen to beasts side of the story before he decides what to do with them."

"Trustworthy...yeah..." Bandit only trusted Dylan Locke to do anything he could to make money but..."We all have to face the mistakes of our past sometime. If the abbey beasts treat Marek kindly. So be it. If not...well. Good beast or not it doesn’t change the fact that he has a reckoning coming his way." The fox began to walk towards the tavern, "Now this is going to seem crazy but...What do you know about Dylan Locke?"

Scioto raises an eyebrow and thinks "He is a lizard, and he did spend a night in the inn once"

The fox laughed nervously, "Yeah...true on both counts. Now before I tell you what he does for a living just remember that the beast that sacked the town twice is now running our tavern." Bandit said as he led the chief off to find an actual bandit...

Scioto watches him head off and then he heads to his office for the first time in a few days, he has a guard inside the office and outside and by the now fixed window as an outside guard.
