Redwall Abbey, Library

Elder Benar, Novice Ahndia, squirrels

Chud, otter

Zork, badger

Flicktail, fox

The library is quiet today, the windows are shut to keep out the rain and Benar is say before the fire place half reading a book and listenign to the rain falling against the glass.

A certain Otterscout is sprawled out on the floor nearby, his sleek form lying face down with his arms propping up another book as the firelight flickers against his fur.

Benar glances up from the book he is reading and with a sigh sets it aside and digs about for another one, "Ah here we go, this one might be more use...."

Ahndia is enjoying a nice quiet day. No dibbuns following her around, no work to do, at least as of yet. She enters the library quietly, sandals scuffing the floor just a bit. Her habit has a few flour prints on it from her work in the kitchens, but it is clear she has done her best to get rid of most of them. She looks from the elder to the scout, wondering whether saying hi is important enough to disturb them while they are reading.

Chud rolls over onto his back then sits up after stretching and yawning. "Wotcher doin', Benar?"

Benar looks over at chud, "I am just looking through old Redwall Poetry that is all, nothing really very fancy." he then nods to Ahndia as she comes inside, "Good day Novice"

Ahndia smiles cheerily at the older squirrel. "Good day, Elder benar. What /sort/ of poetry are you reading?" So much for not disturbing them! She makes her way over and sits in a chair on the other side of Chud, so he is in the middle of the three of them.

Chud stretches again, catlike. "Who wrote it?"

Benar half closes the book and smiles softly, "This particular volume was written by Abbess Germaine a very, very long time ago"

"Ah. I know about her." Chud nods. "Built Redwall with assistance of Martin, kept Corim from going berserker and losing sight of their cause and becoming like the vermin they so hated..."

"Ooo, really? I had no idea Abbess Germaine wrote poetry!" Ahndia laughs at Chud. "I never learned it like /that/! Where /did/ you get that idea?"

"Eh, I picked a few things up as I went," Chud answers. "Figured, I tromp around Mossflower so much, I might as well get to know the place's history a bit."

Benar glances at Chud and shakes his head, "The Corim where never on the verge of going berserker, at least our records do not say so. They just say Germaine brought wisdom which aided them in the fight... I was just looking over ome old poems"

"Right. But if she /hadn't/ been there, who knows? Lady Amber and Skip Warthorn were more warlike than the Loamhedge refugees. They might've gone to more violent lengths to beat Kotir, without thinking of peace."

(Chud says)

Ahndia listens patiently. "I think Chud has a point, especially about Lady Amber and the Skipper, but there were others not so hot-headed. True, they were rather brash at times, but they knew what they were doing."

Benar says, "We must remember of course that both Lady Amber and Skipper were guided by Lady Bella of Brockhall, she was a true noble beast concerned only with peace.""

"Aye, but she couldn't have covered all fronts," Chud replies. "And," he says to Andhia, "The less hot-headed were the ones that Amber and Skip commanded."

"But wasnt her father Lord Boar the Fighter of Salamandastron? And didnt he has at least some sort of case of the Bloodwrath? If that is so, then his daughter may not be as calm as we think she is." Ahndia says directly to Benar. To chud, she says. "Well, that makes sense, but still. They did consider the thoughts of the ones they led."

"Yeah, but sometimes their warrior blood got the advantage of them and they just WENT," Chud states. "I mean, there's still beasts like that. They're good leaders, they listen to their troops, but sometimes they get that red mist."

Benar shakes his head, "Lady Bella never suffered te bloodwrath, it is not recorded anywhere, not all badgers suffer bloodwrath and it i not neccessary hereditary."

"Not Bella, I meant Amber and Skip," Chud clarifies. "Bella, I agree with you on that. "

Ahndia shakes her head as well. "I know /that/, Elder. But she did have some amount of fighting skills, and many badgers /do/ have a stronger sense of right and wrong than the rest of us. And I think he was talking to me about bella, Chud."

Zork has wandered out of the infirm for the first time since that storm, he looks around to see whom is here.

"Oh. Now...I'm confused," Chud says, shaking his head

Benar shakes his head, "Yes this conversation has been derailed a little bit, it is of no real consequence, peace prevailed and Redwall was contructed"

"Aye," Chud agrees. "By the way...I think an old mouse out in the forest to the northeast had written a full set of volumes on the important elements of Abbey history, seperate from the chronicles."

Zork leans on the doorway, "What ya all speakin' of?"

Ahndia jumps as Zork enters. "Oh, hello! We were just talking about Abbey history. Come, join us." She smiles and points to one of the empty seats.

Benar glances at Zork and nclines his head then looks back to Chu, "Ah that is.. interesting Chud but why would we require another set of abbey histories> We ghave a complete set here."

"I dunno. I think he wanted other beasts, in lands farther away, to know our stories," Chud answers. "I dunno. His name was like, Brann Drakes or summat."

Ahndia screws up her face. "I suppose that makes sense, Chud. As long as he gets something from it, I dont care what he does."

Flicktail walks in cradling his left paw in his sling....looking aroudn for a place to sit

Zork waves to Benar, he asks,"That ummmm...Master Healer not in here is he?"

Chud pulls a chair to Flicky when he sees the Champion's entrance. "'ey Flick. How'd yer arm get busted?"

Benar says, "Well I do encourage othe rpeople to tell our story but i;d like to see it before a complete stranger starts telling our tale across the land. It wouldn't do for someone to have gotten bits wrong. ANyway," he stand sup, "I must be offf I have a meeting with the abbot I will see you all soon." he nods to all and slips out."

Flicktail looks to CHud "ice on a tree limb..it snapped and hit me arm...mean ol tree.....

Ahndia jumps up and goes to offer the fox her seat, but sits back down slowly as Chud gets him one. "Oh, Flicktail, you are hurt! How /did/ you hurt your arm?"

Zork yawns large and sits down slowly

Flicktail smiles "they let you out Zorkey?

Ahndia stands and pushes Flicktails chair closer to the fire with a groan. "You sure are heavy, Flicktail. Cant have you getting sick on top of a broken limb, though. Do stay warm. Do either of you need anything?"

Zork grins "I am fine lass, just little break from de infirm...too much resting"

Flicktail says, "I could sure use a hig from a pretty gel....." hegives her big soft brown eyes"

Ahndia nods and rolls her eyes at Flicktail. "Have a hug." She gives him one, leaning over the arm of his chair.

Zork shakes his head, "Your an odd fox Flick"

Flicktail murrrrs and hugs the Gel...feeling her against his warm silken fur as he pulls her close with his good right arm and sighs "It's ammazing how much better hugs makes ya feel" his eyes glisten with happy tears

Flicktail says, "thank ya lass" he smiles "you make a Hare very happy"

Flicktail says, "Foxes too"

Ahndia laughs at Flicktail. "He sure is odd, Zork. But we like him." She winks at the fox and takes her own seat as the badger leaves.

Flicktail asks, "whathave we got to eat taday?"

Ahndia leans back in her chair. "Whatever you want, Flicktail. I was in there cooking before I came in here, so I know for a fact that the scones I was baking should be cooling by now."

Flicktail's ears perk "did you say WARm scones!? his mouth waters "I hear they help broken arms heal!

Ahndia nods. "Any good food will help you heal, silly fox. Do you want me to bring some in here, or shall we go to the kitchen and eat them there? I do warn you, if we make a mess in here I will get in trouble."

Flicktail nods "aye I am weak and needto keep me strenth up" he chuckles "yer such a good gel

Flicktail says, "There won't even be a CRUMB in ere"

Ahndia blushes and gives a small curtsy as she stands. " Thank you, Flicktail. I will go and get them. Maybe some tea, too. I am sure that cannot go amiss." She leaves the library.
