Get The Splinter Out

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

---Yes its short---

Leon walks into the infirm and sits out some herbs he has collected to dry out so they can be used later, each herb is carefully placed in piles and then he jots down some quick notes and lays the notepad down on a table nearby.

Thumps on the door at the entrance as he peers in. "Eh... ya think ya can give me a hand sir. Think I might gotten a splinter in me footpaw." The mouse in the doorway is tall, easily three heads taller than the average mouse. Across his back is a round shield, but that’s it as he left the rest of his equipment at the gate house. "I'd appreciate sir."

Leon looks at the entry, "Ok I can take a look, splinters are fairly easy to get out" He points to a cot close by and walks over to it, "Just sit here and I will look"

Timothy nods and hops over to a cot, sitting down on it with a bounce. "That they are... when ya can see them. I can't quite see it through; Timothy is my name by the way."

Leon starts to look at the footpaw, "Where does it hurt?" He looks for any slight swelling in the foot, "I am Brother Leon, Master Healer of Redwall Abbey"

Timothy nods and sits there for a bit to think out his response. "Nice to meet you, ah... lemme see; I'd say right about in the middle of it all, but I’m not sure if it went straight in or at a slant."

Leon nods and carefully feels along the footpaw and nods "Yeah, it’s a splinter, little sharp as it just barely sticks out of the footpaw when you press down where it is"

Timothy says, "Hmmm, yeah, it's not likely I'd have been able ta get that out on my own. It's funny how much pain a silly sliver of wood can cause, eh?"

Leon nods, he gets what he needs, a little peppermint oil to numb it some and then gentle as he can using a claw to scrape the splinter out, it seems to take a while and then it’s out, he shows it to Timothy, "Not too bad, seen worse...had a dibbun come in with one in her paw, screamed before even started to pull it out"

Timothy chuckles to himself, flexing his toes and wiggling them around. "Really now, that'd be a sight. Honestly the mint wasn't necessary; there are bigger pains than getting a splinter taken out. Anyways thank you... shall I call you Brother Leon or just Leon?"

Leon nods as he smiles "Either will do and mint oil is good for a lot, one of the elders uses it on her wrists for pain sometimes, not very often though"

Timothy hopes out of the cot, bouncing up and down a couple of times. "That so? Would it do well in keeping swelling from sprains from hurting as much? I've had a couple before, boy were they bothersome."

Leon says, "It may, wouldn’t over use it though, mainly numbs an area for a short while"

Timothy nods, sitting back down on the cot. "Well that’s nice to know at least. Still, it’d be nice to figure out a way to dull it completely."

Leon shakes his head "No way to dull completely, will always have a slight ache till it heals"

Timothy says, "I know that first hand, but wishful thinking never hurt."

Timothy flops back onto the cot. "What is it like living in the Abbey Brother Leon may I ask?"

Leon smiles "Living in the abbey, well it’s better than outside the abbey, that’s for sure..seen the abbey during good and bad times"

Timothy twitches his nose. "Really? From what I’ve seen even the bad times must be good. Anyways, I'd best be going, the good beasts that I was helping are expecting me to get back." Sitting up in the cot he proceeds to stand. "Thank you Leon, hopefully you won't need to see me in here again."

Leon waves "Perhaps I will see you later, like in the great Hall perhaps"
