Dibbun Campout by Pond
RW Abbey: Pond
The abbey pond is practically the place to go for relaxation. The orchards that settle onto one side of the water hole provide decent shade for the more heated months to come. Various types of wild flowers grow about the edge of the ground that lightly overhangs into the pond. The pond seemingly invites one into its cool depths, which holds its fish life and multiple species of shrimp and other water dwellers.
Spring has come. Due to the rains, the abbey pond is just gently lapping at the edges of the ground. Soon to overflow lightly if the spring rains don't let up soon. Plant life seems to explode here in a variety of colors, sizes and aromas.

Oz walks over to the pond and looks around, he nods "Think who ever set tents up did a good job"
Biff walks behind Oz out to the pond.
Oak walks into the area, he seems a bit curious at the two beasts just sitting there, and wanders what's going on. "'ello, and what 'tis 'appenen?"
Oz looks over at Oak and nods "Getting ready for a camp out by the pond..."
Oak raises an eyebrow. "A campout, 'tis not much offa campout if yer inside da abbey, in da abbey, yer not really camping out, yer just a bunch'a soft beasts trying ta get some 'o 'dat fresh air"
Biff smiles."Well sir it’s for the dibbuns"
Oz listens and checks on a couple tents “It’s mainly for the dibbuns sir. stories, roasting some apples, that sort of thing...you know, fun"
Oak nods. "Ah yes, 'da little dibbuns, 'dat makes a lot more sense now dunnit?". He looks to the sky, almost it seems, and worried that is going to rain, even though there is not a cloud in the sky.
Oz looks at the sky "It's a clear night, wouldn't worry about any rain."
Biff smiles and walks over to oak."Have we met sir?"
Oak shrugs. "I dunnot think so, but I've not met a lot'o beasts, 'tis not much of a big deal". He pauses for a minute, as if to remember his own name. "'tis Oak...Oak is my name"
Squirt walks out of the abbey and looks around."What’s going on out here...?"
Biff smiles."Well nice to meet you Oak, my name is Biff Van Flaherty!"
Oak blinks. "'tis almost sounds 'jus like Flattery, does it feel flatterin to say yer own name thar miss?"
Biff shrugs."Nope...not that I know of!"
Oak chuckles. "'tis a fine name miss"
Biff smiles."I rather like it!"
Oz checks on the tents and makes sure everything is ok.
Flicktail arrives, Luna and Benick have little back packs on and are all smiling looking around, this is their first time out
Silver walks out of the abbey and watches the other beasts...
Hey, what's going on? Is Holly missing out on something fun and she doesn't even know about it? The mud-caked mouse maid wanders into the area, catching sight of a lot of dibbuns and a lot of grown-ups. She pauses off to the side, seemingly shy. Or at least confused and not really feeling like asking what's going on.
Squirt blinks and looks around."What’s going on..." Asks squirt.
Luna See's holly and walks over, the little Vixen smiling "ello....I'm a Luna.who you?
A silver smile as holly comes out."Hello holly!"
Biff looks at squirt and smiles."Well they are having a campout for the dibbuns!"
Benick brings a Stick to Oz...obviously gathering firewood
Oak blinks at the sudden incoming and the chaos of the entrance of dibbuns, one dibbun actually runs through the field and nearly bowls Oak over, a 2nd dibbun finishes the job, and Oak falls on his face. "Ouch, 'tis hurt" he moans, and the two dibbuns giggle.
Holly notices a few other beasts she recognizes, and she lifts a paw to wave at Silver with a smile. Her eyes then look back to the little vixen before her and she states, "I'm Holly. Is there some kind of party or something going on?" The mouse maid tugs lightly at one of her muddy pigtails almost out of boredom.
Oz looks over "No running please “He looks around the area and makes sure things are in order, nodding to himself he sits down.
Luna tells Holly "Camping! gonna have viddles and camp
Oak gets up and dusts some...well, dust off of his tunic. "Stay away ye little devils" he teases the dibbuns. "Or 'they'll be no Custard for ye"
Squirt just kind of walks around, not knowing what to do and not being very good around other beast...
"What's camping?" is all Holly asks, pausing only to wave a paw in greeting at Squirt. Hey! She’s only been here for a few days, but she's getting to make friends already.
Luna smiles "sleeping outside and cookin apples over the camp fire...fun stufs!"
Oz smiles "And perhaps a story or two little later."
Benick brings another arm full of sticks, perhaps 6 sticks, to oz "I Helpin!"
Squirt blinks and thinks for a second before shaking the mouse maid’s paw."Umm....hello..."
Holly looks skeptical, frowning. After all, she's been sleeping outside for a while now and just got a bed inside finally! "Will we get to catch bugs?" she finally asks, with that same frown. She's sort of inviting herself. Even if she doesn't really want to do it. There's an awful lot of LITTLE dibbuns around. She blinks when Squirt shakes her paw, and then giggles.
Luna smiles "if we wants...I help if ya want what bugs?"
Oz hmmms and chuckles "Perhaps fireflies will be out later, haven't paid attention to weather any have been out yet this season"
Biff smiles."There have been a few...not many still..."
Silver smiles as he walks up to oz."So are you going to want any help?"
Benick smiles when he see's Kiara and runs over to her "Hullo Kara...." he smiles trying to look handsome for her
Flicktail says, "How be ye Oz"
Kiara makes her way across the grass and stops a fair distance away, she watches the going on from where she is and leans on the wall.
Oz nods to Flicktail "I have been pretty good Flicky, you seem to be doing well today"
Flicktail says, "oi yes all Luna and Benick been talkin bout for 2 days be Campin wi Oz"
Biff walks over to Kiara and smiles."Hello Kiara!"
Kiara looks at Benick and mutters a hi "Hi there" she doesn't look too interested in the campout really and stays where she is”
Benick sits beside Kiara and offers a paw "hold paws?
Oz smiles "Well they will have fun and a couple others have come to help keep an eye on the dibbuns tonight and help out looks like"
Squirt looks around and does not say much.
Kiara shakes her head "I am not staying for camping, just watching"
Squirt looks at the fox and stays where he is."Umm...hello..."
Biff hmms and asks Kiara."Why won’t you stay Kiara?"
Benick cocks his head "why not stayins? I put up yer tent for ya?"
Oz checks on the firewood, though that will be needed later on, he smiles as he watches the dibbuns, he hmms on a story idea, a different one for tonight.
Kiara shrugs "I not, I don't know, campout is for dibbuns “ She answers quietly.
Biff frowns."Well camping out is not only for dibbuns...and even if it is you still ARE a dibbun!"
Benick looks a little let down "but...I likes you....your real big and smarts
Kiara sighs and walks off to the entry, she doesn’t bother saying bye she just walks off.
Benick looks at Biff and shakes his head "Girls!"
Biff laughs."Aye wot be wrong with them!"
Oz looks over at them as they talk and Kiara walks off, he frowns a little and decides to go ahead and start a small fire, he nods to Silver "Silver maybe you can make sure the dibbuns don't get to close to the fire please"
Silver nods."I can do that...can’t be too hard!"
Luna moves over bringing Oz a paw full of Wildflowers "Papa Oz?" the little dibbun holds out the flowers
Biff laughs."You know Benick I think that is the first time anyone has ever called ME big!"
Oz looks down at Luna and smiles "Oh flowers, always nice to have around and very pretty.pretty soon we are going to have some roasted apples to eat."
Squirt is sitting by a tree watching the other dibbuns run around...
Luna moves up to Oz's leg and hugs it "Loves youffs Pappa Oz"
Silver looks over at squirt and smiles."Hi there sSuirt!"
Oz smiles, he gives Luna a hug and looks to the other dibbuns "Well is everyone having fun so far?"
Benick looks up at the doe hare "why...you big and your ears aren’t even up yet....
Squirt looks at silver and smiles."Hello Mr. silver!"
Biff laughs still."Well maybe YOU are just small....I bet in a few season you will be bigger than me!"
"Benick gets bigger? Bigger even then yer ears?" his eyes wide as he speaks.
Oz smiles, he goes ahead and gets the apples and so extra just in case and starts to roast a couple as the smaller dibbuns would have some trouble with it and they will be hot once done.
Silver smiles. "Wot are you doing Squirt?"
Biff nods."Yep."She stands up."Well I got to go check on someone...be back in a little bit Benick!"
Luna walks over to look up at Squirt
Squirt looks at the fox and smiles some."Umm...hi.my name squirt...what your?"
Luna hides her muzzle some her ears flushing red as she says softly "I Luna.....Squirt a nice name"
Squirt smiles."Well it’s not my real name....but don’t know my real name so everyone call me squirt!"
Silver sits by the fire watching to see if the dibbuns get to close...
A couple older beast roast their own apples, Oz looks over "Please be careful can get hot" they nod and smiles, he gets a couple done and starts a couple more, after a while he clears his throat "Anyone want a roasted apple yet? just be careful they are hot a little still"
Benick sits beside Silver "Biff a good fella"
Benick want a roasted Apple!
Silver nods as Benick sits by him."Aye she is..."He looks at oz."Do I get one?"
Benick looks at Silver 'Sure Biff is Girl?" he asks curiously
Oz smiles "Anyone who wants one can have one, I made sure they were plenty of them, maybe you can even help with a story"
Flicktail says, "Oi love stories Papa Oz"
Silver laughs."Yes she is..."
Oz chuckles "I have yet to think up a good story"
Benick looks skeptical bit accepts what Silver says, and tries to climb into Silver's lap
Luna continues to look up at Squirt
Silver helps the dibbun onto his lap...
Squirt asks the fox."Do you like to swims?"
Luna says "mamma takes me swims....says not ta go without big beast....
Oz nods "Yes always swim with a bubby or if you’re a dibbun with an older beast around"
Squirt smiles."I like to swim....but never had buddy to swim with me...."
Oz watches the dibbuns play, a couple climb onto his lap and he smiles, he looks around as the sun starts to go down "Hmmms...might have to point out some starts later too, teach a little around patterns and how some can be like pictures when put them together"
Silver smiles."Stars are fun...also good for when you get lost at night...well if you know how to use them..."
Oz nods "I have used the stars before, helped me find my way through the north woods"
Silver laughs."I used them once...ended up a few day walk away from where I was going!"
Squirt walks up to the two and asks."What are you talking about?"
Benick looks at Oz "what he means Stars?
Oz roasts a few more apples and passes them out making sure all the dibbuns have one and something to drink as well, a nice cherry juice and some water as well for those who maybe don’t want juice.
Benick tries to move over nest to Biff and climb up in her lap
Luna nibbles at a roasted apple smiling at the taste
Biff smiles and lets the dibbun climb onto her lap.
Squirt gets a roasted apple...he has never had one before so he a bit scared to try it....
Luna offers Squirt a bit of her apple.her cheeks puffing a little as she blows on it to cool it "ifs good"
Squirt takes the piece of the apple and tries it."Yes...it is good!"He takes a bit of his own and smiles....
Luna lays her head sweetly on Squirt's shoulder
Oz smiles as they enjoy the apples and watches as some stars start to show up and fireflies blink around the grass.
Benick points to Biff "looks! piper flies!
Squirt blinks and tries not to move as the fox lays her head on his shoulder.
Silver smiles."Well this seems to be going nicely!"
Biff hmms."Look at wot?"
Benick points at the fire flies "Piperflies!"
Squirt smiles back at the fox but does not move still feeling awkward having another beast so close to him...
Biff smiles."Oh the fireflies!"
Luna says "you fur is thick!" she smiles
Benick nods "Hares fast?" he asks her
Biff nods."Yes they are!"
Squirt nods."Yes...the bigger otters sayed it was to keep us warm in the waters."
Benick smiles "Fast enough to catch piperfiles?"
Oz chuckles as the dibbuns start to catch fireflies
Biff laughs."I don’t know...never tried to catch one before!"
Benick smiles "come I shows you! "
Biff goes with Benick and watches...
Benick runs as fast as his little legs can carry him, his bushy tail behind him he pounces "Quicks Aunt Biffs! get em!"
Luna smiles but brings her head up "yous nice Squirt...big brother...."
Biff runs around with the dibbuns trying to catch the fireflies.
Squirt blinks."Umm....I am you brother?!?"
Silver laughs as he watches biff try to catch the fireflies....
Benick pants "Don't hurts em aunt Biffs" he pants squealing "I Gos one!"
"Big Brother" Luna corrects
Benick waves to Astro
Squirt blinks."Umm I am not your brother...I think..."
Biff nods."Ok...I won’t!"She runs around and grabs one and puts it in a jar
Biff says, "I got one."
Benick smiles "you GOOD aunt Biffs
Luna blinks 'don't wanna be Luna brother?"
Squirt thinks for a second than says."I can be your brother..."
Silver laughs."Yes good job biff you put a bug in a jar!"
At that time, Astro the Otter comes trotting towards the pond, looking somewhat... clean for once. He waves at everybody, and says, "Hi e'ryone. 'm sorry 'm late, I had to get bath'd."
Benick puts his paws on his hips "Aunt Biffs...you gots ta put holes in itfer the bugs!"
Luna looks up at Astro "don’t like baffs....cooling apples!"
Silver smiles."Hello there Astro!"
Biff laughs."I don’t think you could do better than me Silver!"She looks at Benick and smiles."Yes that is a good idea."She pulls out a small knife and puts holes in the jar...
Benick's eyes get big "yoos gots KNIFE?"
Biff nods."Yes but it’s my small one I use for cooking...my bigger ones is in the gate house with the rest of the weapons..."
Squirt watches the dibbuns and starts to try to catch a firefly himself...
Astro asks, "So, are we catching' lightning' bugs or sumfin'?"
Silver nods."Yes we are!"He gets up and tries to catch some himself...yep this is going to end well..."
Benick waves to Astro "I am Benick..come helps!"
Luna is much to lady like, she stays by the apples and Papa oz
Astro says, "Aright'! 'm Astro." He begins watching the fireflies, and then leaps at one, trying to catch it in his paws.
Biff who is lady like in no way runs after a firefly and dives after it...she grabs it but ends up in the pond...
Benick laughs "Aunt Biffs gets Baff!
Benick brings the bug jar to Astro
Silver laughs."Good job bBff!"

Biff frowns as she pulls herself out of the water."Ugg...wish I could swim..."
Benick brings the bug jar to Astro "You gots a big one?"
Astro looks in his paws. "Yup. It's a big'un!"
Silver laughs and gives biff something to dry herself off with."Well I will show you how to swim later!"
Benick gasps "WHOA that like a BADGER bug!"
Squirt walks over to the other dibbuns and shows him what he found."Looks at this..."He shows them a rather small firefly that is flying around in his jar...
Benick smiles "Ohh squirt I bets yoos plierfly be fast! put it inna jar" he holds the jar out to them
Biff laughs as she dries herself off."Yes that would be nice!"
Astro puts his catch in the jar, and then looks at Biff. "You can't swim, Mrs. Flowery?"
Biff shakes her head."Nope..."
Luna looks up near the fire "Otters swims
Silver goes back to the hunt for the fireflies...
Squirt nods."Yes we do!"
Astro says, "Otters swim real good, on account of we got rudders!"
Benick shows Astro his tail "Foxes got furshes"
Biff laughs."Well I don’t have a rudder so that might be why I can’t swim!"

Luna says without looking up "Hares gotsa a scut...."
Astro looks at Biff. "Do big rabbids - I mean hares - even have tails?"
Biff smiles."YEs we do...they are just small..."
Oz yawns slightly as he has been watching the dibbuns catch fireflies and smiles, "So..anyone have story ideas?"
Silver shrugs as he runs after a firefly with a few dibbuns."Nope!"
Astro asks, "Story?"
Luna looks up "gonna tells a story?
Squirt walks up to oz and smiles."I like stories"
Oz smiles "Yes every campout needs a story, but perhaps a different one than Martin..hmmms lets see"
Benick looks up "how about the Long Patrol!?"
Biff laughs."Come on oz, you have to know a few stories!"
Astro says, "My pa always tells me one 'bout Redwall an' a mouse named... umm... Matt or sumfin'."
Oz chuckles "I have a good one achally, ..and it’s not about the Long Patrol but it has a hare in it"
Silver hmms and sits find a seat...
Benick and Luna sit by the campfire to listen looking up at papa Oz, Benick with the Jar of Fireflies
Astro sits down in front of Oz, legs crises cross.
Biff sits down by Silver...
Squirt sits down and watches Oz.
Flicktail sits down to Watch Oz
Benick leans over to astro "who is yer mum and dad?"
Astro leans over to Benick, and whispers, "My papa's name is Thomas. My mom's name is Caroline."
Benick Chuckles "Flicktail be me Da, and Fae me Mum"
Squirt eats his eating his apple...
Squirt is eating his apple.
Luna sits next to Squirt, a beast she seems to look up to
The sound of tiny fluttering wings might not be very audible over the bustle by the pond, but the sudden appearance of a small, young robin is something that doesn't easily go unnoticed. Typically, a gathering of Abbey beats means food, and food typically means...well, yummy! An ungainly landing announces Brummell’s arrival.
Benick guards his Jar of Fireflies from the Robin
Astro looks over at the arrival of Brimmel. "Woah, a bird!"
Biff smiles."Hello Brimmel!"
Benick smiles "Pretty cool eh Astro?"
Silver smiles."Hello there!"
Yes, a bird. "Woah, an otter!" Brimmy twitters back, twitching her wings. "An' hello miss Biff hare miss...and, er...company!"
Squirt looks at the bird but does not say anything...right now he is just enjoying his apple...
Benick keeps his jar safe, he knows birds eat bugs
Biff smiles."Would you like to join us brimmel, oz is going to tell a story and there is roasted apples!"
Silver nods."Yes please do Miss bBimmel!"
Brimmel hops without hesitance in their direction, bypassing the jar and fireflies without attacking (yet). "Roasted apple sounds scrummy!" With a shake of tail feathers she settles at the edge of the group, trying to ignore the fact that she was several seasons older, yet roughly the same size as some of the dibbuns.
Astro sits waiting for the story to start.
the little vixen, Luna, reaches out to pet the robin gently
Brimmel snaps her beak in surprise and flaps away from Luna. "No touchy! Getaway youse!"
Squirt looks at the robin and smiles."Hello Miss robin bird!"
Oz smiles as he starts the story" There was a young hare who was traveling along the road, he was out on a normal adventure, least he hoped for that, so he walked along the road and came upon a fork in the road, debating on the way to go..left or right"
Silver eats another roasted apple as oz tells his story...
Astro listens to the story.
Flicktail smiles and gives a shove to Astro
Oz smiles "He decided to go right along the path, he came upon a weasel that stopped him, the weasel knew he had some coins and tried to trick the young hare, if you plant those coins why..your grow the biggest money plant ya ever seen..the hare was curious of this but was also told not to talk to strangers, so he went along the path, he came upon a family of mice, they looked to have nothing and so he shared some of his food and coins with them, this made him happy and he went along the path once more."
"If he wasn't supposed to talk to strangers, why did he talk to the mice?" Brimmy rudely interrupts.
Benick lists ears perked "Weasels kin be bad beasts
Oz frowns, he then smiles "Some beasts are safe to talk to, others are not..and he knew the mice were friendly and knew the weasel wasn’t....anyways he got to where he wanted to go, and on his little adventure learned the value of honesty and helping others"
Astro frowns at Flicktail. "Why'd you do that?"
Biff laughs."Guess they forgot about that part!"
Squirt smiles as oz tells the story...
Flicktail Smiles to Astro "just playing"
Brimmel shakes her head in confusion. "Ye can't have fun if you don't talk to strangers, That where the real adventure comes from. This story's lame, peace out!" And with that, the robin spread her small wings, hopped a few steps forward and, grabbing an apple in her feet, took
Oz shakes his head "It isn’t safe to talk to strangers, a strange can harm you"
Silver laughs."That is very true!"
Benick raises a paw
Oz looks to Benick "Yes?" what is it?"
Biff laughs."Well you have had run into a few beasts who wanted to harm you silver!"
Benick says "astro is a stranger ta me..but you let me talk to him..." he says confused
Astro says indignantly, "I'm not strange!"
Squirt smiles as he watches to others...
Oz blinks "Oh..well a stranger is more of..like a beast that may do you harm, other dibbuns or trusted adults in the are safe too"
Benick smiles and gives Poppa Oz a hug of his leg, it's all Benick can reach
Silver smiles."So wot are we going to do now?"
Oz smiles "Well we have told the stories and ate apples, and" he chuckles as a few dibbuns have fallen asleep.."Some seem to want to sleep" He places a couple in a tent close by, a couple guards are by the tent area to help keep eye on the dibbuns during the night.
Silver smiles."So wot are we going to do now?"
Luna looks up "Poppa Oz..can you tell us about the stars?
Oz smiles "I can tell you about the stars...let’s see" he looks into the nice clear star sky and points to one "That the big dipper and also the little dipper right there too....the large star is called the north star its one sea beasts use to guide them on the seas and others can use it too"
Squirt smiles as oz points out the stairs."I like the stars!"
Astro lays down on his back, looking up. "Stars are pretty. There's so... many of them. How many of them are there?"
Byronn walks over the campout, looking a bit rushed. " Sorry! Quinton only just told me he was interested" The mouse dibbun in his arms smiles a little as they sit on a log and listen.
Luna and Benick see Byronn and squeal running to him "UNCA Byronn!"
Oz chuckles "Too many to count, but one can form pictures with them,..there is one that a hare even...and one that looks like a horse with wings, even a hunter one"
Silver smiles."Hello byronn...and how is that dibbun of yours doing?"
Biff smiles."Hi byronn."
Astro asks, "Is there an otter?"
Squirt looks at the mouse and smiles."Hello..."
Oz hmms "There may be, I am unsure..there are lots of them and I only learned a few from my parents and...well someone else, she knew allot of them" he smiles a little.
Byronn Chuckles and hugs Benick and Luna. He smiles a greeting to the others. "He's doing much better! slept alot"
Benick and Luna look at Byronn's dibbun
silver smiles."That is good to hear!"
Quinton grins shyly and waves. " Hi" and smiles at Oz
Byronn Tickles Luna's ears a bit and waves to Biff. "How're you doing?"
Biff smiles."So how are you doing byronn?"
Luna giggles
Biff smiles."Very good!"
Silver smiles and looks at Luna."How have you been Luna?"
Luna smiles "Luna goods...".Luna pet Silver ears?
Byronn Nods happily, "Good to know! I'm doing just fine" He nuzzles Quinton
Benick smiles "Ello Quinton can we play? I got a whole jar of Plierflies! (Fire flies)"
Quinton looks up at Byronn and smiles at Benick. "Sure!"
Benick grabs a stick "here is yer sword!"
Biff laughs."Are you planning to fight the fireflies?"
Squirt yawns and falls asleep...
Quinton takes the 'sword' gingerly. "What's the game?"
Benick looks at Biff "they not Plierflies..they are Asmodeus eyes!"
Biff nods."Ok I understand now!"
Astro gives off a great big yawn, and looks over at Benich and Biff. "Asmodeus? 'e was in the' story m' papa always tells me..."
Luna reaches up to stroke Silver's long velvety ears smiling "softy!"
Byronn Sighs contently and gazes up at the stars, Quite relaxed
Benick puts the jaw out in the grass "we gots ta find and slays Asmodeus....
Silver laughs."Yes I guess they are!"
The little mouse nods "Alright..." Quinton grins
Oz listens as they talk about the large snake story and looks around “Least it’s a clear night, which was good"
Benick goes south in the grass whacking with his sword "where are ya ASMODEUS..we get ta!"
Astro says to Benick, "'n the story my papa told, Asmodeus go slay'd a long time ago by a mousey."
Kiara sneaks into the area and looks over at the campfire and the beasts.
Biff grins and asks the dibbuns."Can I join you on your quest to slay asmodeus?"
Benick says "Dis is Asmodus dibbun"
Benick Smiles "Yea Aunt Biff you kin be Basil Staghare!"
Kiara looks over as they talk and she ventures slightly closer and listens, by stays by a tree.
Oz looks over at Kiara and smiles, he knows where all the dibbuns are as he has been keeping an eye on them, as are the guards by the pond.
creeps around, Poking at the ground cautiously. "Where are you snakey?"
Biff laughs."Do I get a sword?"
Benick hands Biff a stick "Asmodus Dibbin has Kiara..we gots ta rescue her!
Kiara tilts her head and blinks, she frowns "I don’t wanna play..just watching"
Benick doesn't know Kiara is there
Byronn Smiles as he watches Quinton closely.
Oz watches Kiara for a little while and yawns.
Biff smiles."Well than who are we going to save?"
Benick says "Saves Kiara....see the Plierflies..that be Asmodus dibbun gots ta sneak up on it....Quintin kin go dat side"
