"I love you, Dad." or Lily learns of her Dad's past :)

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

RW Abbey: Pond

The abbey pond is practically the place to go for relaxation. The orchards that settle onto one side of the water hole provide decent shade for the more heated months to come. Various types of wild flowers grow about the edge of the ground that lightly overhangs into the pond. The pond seemingly invites one into its cool depths, which holds its fish life and multiple species of shrimp and other water dwellers.

[It's late summer/very early autumn....harvest time! :D]

Leon the mouse. LilyMoore the mouse.

Leon has some time off today, he is done with making sure supplies were put away in the infirmary [and] is now sitting by the pond.

LilyMoore has been busy reading. Actually, she still is reading. She comes walking from the direction of the orchards, reading as she moves between the trees, somehow managing to not run into anything. She has yet to notice her father.

Leon looks up and speaks "Be careful where your walking Lilymoore, your close to the pond"

LilyMoore starts slightly and looks up and around. "Oh! So I am." She shuts the book, walks over to her father's side, and sits down. "It's a pretty day."

Leon nods and smiles some, "It is and the leaves are slowly starting to change colors as well"

LilyMoore sighs happily as she gazes at the changing leaves. "I love the change of the seasons. It makes me feel alive and free." She goes to compulsively hug her father. "I love you, Dad."

Leon smiles and returns the hug "Love you as well, I am glad your feeling happy today. I got done with organizing things in the infirm and making sure we are good on different herbs all the way to spring, I even make sure my surrcoat was restocked also so all should be well"

LilyMoore grins happily and goes to snuggle up against him. "I've just been reading. There's lots of storybooks in the Library." She looks up into her father's face. "Did you ever meet Momma's sister LilyMoore?"

Leon shakes his head "Sadly no. Your have to ask your mother about her sometime maybe, but ask nicely and if she doesnt want to talk about it too much, respect that"

LilyMoore nods and looks out at the pond as she goes to rest her head on his shoulder. "Uncle Emyuil told me about her the other day. I wish that I could've met her."

Leon smiles "I am sure she was nice, I had an older sister...but she sadly died" He sighs a little but doesn't stay upset over it, he knows he has family at the abbey and that is something to be happy about. "Her name was Ginny"

LilyMoore looks back ta her father's face. "What was she like?"

Leon smiles "Nice, she wanted to be a healer and was even planning on getting married one day. She was about 3 seasons older than me"

LilyMoore listens, then after a few moments, she says quietly, "I'm sorry that she died. How did it happen?" She wishes she could have met all of her dead relatives.....there were so many.

Leon at first seems unwilling to reply, then he does, "She got very ill, and she died before an herb to help her get better was brought to her, found out later even if it was gotten to her sooner she may of still died. I wasn't there when she died, she had died a few hours earlier..."

LilyMoore goes to hug her father compassionately. "That's terrible. I'm so sorry, Daddy. I can't imagine anything happening to Caleb and my not being there with him."

Leon nods "Me neither...I was not able to stay after my sister died...didn't even get to say goodbye even"

LilyMoore stares up at him. "Why couldn't you stay?" She can't imagine anything more awful than not being able to say good-bye to someone she loves.

Leon frowns, "I...it was the day I was forced to leave my village." He doesn't go into detail, least right now he doesn't.

LilyMoore's mouth drops open, and she is filled with immense pity and sadness for her father. "Oh, Dad....that's awful. How could anybeast do that??" She thinks for a moment, then declares, "If you get banished form Redwall, I will come with you, not matter where you have to go."

Leon smiles "I...don't think that would happen, and...it was a horrible thing, and one that almost ruined my life had I not stopped here one day to rest, didn't plan to stay but I ended up staying and it helped me"

LilyMoore grins. She succeeded in her plot to make him smile! Hurray! "What made you stay here at Redwall?"

Leon smiles "Your mother, at first I saw her from a distance and then the next day...well we spoke to one another and...well she in a way saved me that day, it's hard to say where I be now if I had left when I planned"

LilyMoore smiles in the way people do when they hear something amazing that they never thought they'd ever hear. "You met Momma, and that kept you here??"

Leon nods "Yes, I fell in love and we talked, and I helped her when she needed some cheering up and she helped me as well. I became a novice here, then Brother and one day Master Healer and still Master healer now."

LilyMoore grins. "It sounds like a Fairy Tale, only better, 'cause it really happened." She tucks her book into her apron pocket and adds, "I'm glad you guys met like that. I hope, if I ever get married, my future husband and I'll meet in a similar way."

Leon smiles "You never know, maybe you have meet them already or maybe your meet them seasons from now"

LilyMoore hmms and looks at the sky. "That'd be weird, wouldn't it? If I knew him now." She picks some nearby dandelions and starts weavign them into a chain. "I wonder what he'll look like?" She then adds, "How will I know if he's Mister Right?" She turns and looks back at her father. "How did you know that Momma was the right one for you?"

Leon thinks and smiles "I...don't know, I just knew, and at the time she was the only one that could...well, only one I listened too, I didn't really like many beasts and wasn't really friendly. She helped me by bringing back some happiness and a reason to care again. I sort of hated my father at the time, but me and my father did forgive one another and became close again before he died"

LilyMoore grins, but then her smile fades as her father reveals that he and her grandfather hated each-other. "I'm glad that you became close again, but why did you and your Dad hate each-other?"

Leon debates and then tells her "It was him that banished me from my village, he ...at the time blamed me for my sister's death, I wasn't fast enough he said...he escorted me out with nothing and told me to leave and not come back and I didn't. My friend Angelo, a hare, found me and helped me some as did an otter that taught me to swim, but still neither was able to help me slowly turning bitter..."

LilyMoore has stopped weaving dandelions and now just stares at her father, sad and slightly shocked. "How could somebeast do that to their /family/?"

Leon says, "He was...confused I guess, I don't know. Maybe depression got to him too much. Its why I try my best to help beasts who are sad, well least I try to...sometimes they seem to walk away...or lock themselves in rooms" He frowns" But its important to never let depression get to you, and always let others help you and you help others as well"

Leon stands as he remembers something "I need to go check on something, just think on what I said...maybe you can help some beasts around here that's been feeling down"

LilyMoore looks to the ground, then nods. "Yeah....I don't like it when my friends are sad." she looks up and smiles. "Like Zinnia!" she waves to her father as he leaves, then digs out her book and continues to read.
